View Full Version : Resident EVIL!
Did anyone get this game today!? Well I did and let me tell you one thing, IT IS THE GREATEST! There is so much detail! Who cares that the backgrounds are prerendered!? It all blends together so well (the backgrounds, the characters, the zombies, the items, the movies within the backgrounds, the lighting, the shadows) so you really can't notice. It is so much better then the original with a bunch of new areas that you have to explore right off the bat. Get this game now!

I think he is talking about the gamecube version. Is it out yet?
You're smart enough, the thread starter is talking about the remark Resident Evil from GameCube.
Yes, I'm talking about the new RE for GC. It just came out today, I had to sacrifice Smash Bros. Melee and THPS3 for it but it was worth it! (considering that I beat the s*** out of both of those games)

Yeah, makes sense... but i never seen the Asz posting: "for GameCube"!!
Asz: This is the Resident Evil.... It's a great game!!
But I did post, "Did anyone get this game today!?" and "There is so much detail!" which rules out any of the other old ones. :p
I know, the only RE I ever REALLY liked was the first one, it was the only one to spook me and still surprise me. RE2 didn't make any sense at all (what kinda police station was that!?) RE3 was more straight-forward and Code Veronica was alright, but not as good as RE1.
P.S. - Think everyone will meet up eventually? You know, Leon meets Jill, Jill meets claire, ect.

Congratulations you got your copy
Just waiting for the game to be available in the stores around here where I live. I was watching every movie at www.gamespot.com and let me tell you that I can't wait to have it in my hands. It did let me with the mouth widely opened when I watched those screenshots and FMVs it's awesome. those super zombies that are running around are so so creepy, and as you say the lighting and shadows FX are amazing.
Simply the best graphics for all the RE series just imagine how's gonna be the RE4???, damn when can i play it??
Yeah I ran into a "super zombie" today. He runs faster then your character. And he's all redish and has claws of death, freaked me out too, 'cause I was going to light him on fire when he popped up and started chasing me like he wanted to give me a hug.

I might have to get a GameCube and check this game out. It sounds good :)
You won't see any ports until at LEAST six months later on any RE title.

RE1 DC is the scariest RE IMO. NGC RE is just too good lookin'. The crummy PSX graphics gave the game a very special touch...

Ah. This forum be damned if the new RE gets ported to the PS2. I liked the story in RE1 and the bosses in RE2 best.
The graphics only help it! It makes it look even more like a horror movie. And the zombies! Man, their jaws move, their eyes move! They look 10x crazier!

:p
At last yesterday I finally got my RE copy, and no complains so far. The game is completely amazing, simply I thought that as I had played the first PSX RE I could just go and sweep everything, well came out that it doesn't. Is almost a half new game with new confusing and interesting puzzles and even more scary backgrounds, efects, ........ is incredible. Can't stop playing, and it really worth it!!
Hey Asz how far have you gone in the game. I've just get to the courtyard and I liked it so far:p
Well lets see, I just got the Armor key from the hallway of death (on the 3rd floor, you'll know what I mean). Who are you playing with? I started a game with Chris. On HARD. I have one clip left (that I just found) I got the shot gun with no ammo, and one flash-bang grenade. I saved at the room where all the medicine is (right down the stairs) and am too afraid to go back up the stairs because: A: Theres already one zombie up there, B: Before I went down the stairs a crazy zombie (i'm guessing it was one of them that run at you really fast) was trying to bust down the door, he finally did right when I came down the stairs so I went in the save room.

I wanted to familiarize with all the new environment and started the game as Jill on easy mode as she can carry up to 8 item and no 6 like Chris. I have been playing all the saturday and sunday and when you try to get the damn helmet key you're gonig to pray, sometimes it gets so confusing because if you played the PSX RE you have certain game strategy that not always is equal in this game, for example those crests (sun, moon, wind and earth i guess) it's changed, the secuence you guess the mansion keys are gathered also are changed and a lot of improved and new puzzles that are more elaborated but I have reached the giant rocks place which you have tu lure as quick as you can if not they smash you. And the hunters they scared one time that mede me jump from my seat. anyway I'm enjoying this a lot and hope you keep being scared as I and going everytime farther

I don't have 250$ to spend to buy a gc and resident but are the pc versions of the residents worth buying or should i buy the psx version and emulate them?

LOL! I got my GameCube the day it was released. I haven't been happier this last day. Unfortunately I haven't been able to buy the game yet, but I rented it for a week.
Having never played the original on PSX, this is a brand new experience for me. I didn't realize that you had to set the zombies on fire, and I missed that pamphlet until a couple hours ago. As a result, I will have to restart, since I have one green herb, and 10 9mm bullets left, and a mansion full of zombies. :(
Anyway, I just want to say that I love the game. If it doesn't sell GameCubes, well, I guess we will have to wait for Eternal Darkness. :) (RE killer)
EDIT: Btw, Nintendo has a 1 year exclusive RE deal. Don't expect ports for at LEAST a year. (There are also murmerings about Capcom going 2nd party.)

just you americans do your job and buy that game like crazy...
the sales numbers in japan were REALLY bad, we don't want to see capcom quitting their GC support, now do we?

Carmofin, Capcom expected to sell 400,000 copies by the end of the year. I would say that it is selling about as expected. I would really be interested in American sales numbers soon though.

Well is it true that RE will be ported, even in a year or so? I thought Capcom had gone exclusive.
Now that's a good news, if RE gets ported to the PS2.

Well, until I can get a GC, I've always got my Devil May Cry on PS2. That's a great Capcom game for PS2. :)
I doubt we will see any ports of RE at least for a couple of years. Capcom did go exclusive with the GC.

Syed, Nintendo is GUARANTEED by contract to keep Resident Evil games GameCube exclusive for one full year after the initial release. However, I wouldn't expect to see PS2 versions anytime soon, if at all.
Resident Evil is very resource intensive, and a lot of it relies on fast load times. Unfortunately, the PS2 doesn't do either of these all that well. I catch an occasional (very brief) pause between movies, or screen changes on the GameCube, and I shudder to think of what it would be like on the PS2. Capcom would have to redesign much of the game to accomodate the PS2's hardware, and it would be a real challenge. I heard that Capcom still has a bad taste in its mouth concerning Resident Evil CV X for PS2 as well. Overall, it doesn't look good for PS2.

Well throughout the game I encountered like 4 or 5 glitches and little freezes on the FMVs.
Concerning the posibility of porting the game to other platform and besides the exclusive contract with the GameCube, I guess Capcom is really not interested doing that, imagine porting the game to PC, just in the same day it would be pirated and obviusly the big money loss, the gamecube hasn't been modded or even pirated and I guess it won't be in much long
Freezes on RE for GC? Thats only because it was switching between FMVs and real-time, or trying to switch the camerca angle really quickly.
