I personally like Ryu the best. I used to favor Ken up to SFA2 but after SFA3 Ryu seems like the better character. Evil Ryu is also pretty cool in SFA3 and I like how Capcom showed his true destiny (of the dark hado anyways).

In Street Fighter series, I like Sagat. I even like him in his first appearance in the first series, because he's the boss. The opportunity came when he was made playable in Street Fighter 2. I still think that his Tiger Uppercut should beat Ryu's Shoryuken. :D It just look so pOwErFuL! ;)

Strider

sagat was pretty cool,

i think for me it goes like this

1) Guy
2) Akuma
3) Sagat
4) Ryu... i guess

adon was cool to play as too, with the jaruar kicks and all, but very hard to play as him

I like Chun-Li because she kicks high. I personally like using Vega and Bison because they do a sick amount of damage in a very short time. I've also always liked using Guile. He was nice and cheap. :p

Skullomania made his first appearance in Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha, the one with 3D graphic. Seeing him reminds me of Ultraman though. :D

RhombusYSS
May 2nd, 2002, 06:12
Skull-o-mania is a really dumb character... he's a super-hero wannabe dressed in what looks like a one of those skeleton costumes that kids where on halloween. SF EX plus Alpha is actually the only game I've seen him in, but then again I haven't played much in the SF series since SF Alpha 3. I never like to pick the 'cool' characters like Ryu or Ken... I always go for the silly ones cause they're so fun and funny.

I pretty much play all Shoto characters but I stick with Ryu for serious fights. They weakened Akuma immensely and Ken has grown somewhat less useful since SFA3. In survival mode I usually do a lot better with Ryu than any other character.

They take too much damage. They are good aagainst a computer controlled oponent, or someone who isn't very good, but fight against a pro, and you'll take too much damage.

Evil Ryu wasn't in SFA3 in the arcades.. He was in SFA2..

My Favorite SF characters are:

1. Gen(sfa3)
2. Guy(sfa)
3. Zangief(all versions of sf)
4. Fei Long(SSF2- SSF2t)
5. Vega(all versions of sf)
6. Akuma(sfa)
7. Sodom(sfa)
8. Guile
9. Chunli(sfa)
10. Ryu

Most ryu and ken players lose badly to my gen.. Meet me online on the west coast servers.. Gen kicks ass in sfa3.. Guy is unbeatable in SFA and Sodom as well.. I use Zangief in every sf game, and I win most of the time with him as well.. harharhar..

Actually, I have a question that has always been on my mind about the names. I think it confused me, because the games mess up with some of the main characters name like:
1. The red military boss - is it Vega or M. Bison?
2. The masked matador - is it Balrog or Vega?
3. The Las Vegas boxer - is it M. Bison or Balrog?
This confusion has haunted me since the earliest year of Street Fighter 2 (that's a long time ago). Can someone please give me the real explanation and comment about the real official name? I'm pretty sure many SF fans would like to know about it. Thank you. :)

Balrog is also in the arcade version, as well as in the PSX and DC versions. And I think Evil Ryu and Shin Gouki are the only two additional characters in SFZ3 Upper. The sound ROMs don't contain the themes for T. Hawk, Guile, Fei Long, or Dee Jay either so it's very unlikely that they're there.

The best overall character to use is probably Ken. Akuma/Gouki is likely the most powerful, but he is highly imbalanced (near invincible if used properly).

Personally I'm really enjoying using Zangief and other 360/720 characters in SFA3.

Increase all powerbars to level 6 and you will fight against Guile. Defeat him and he will be avaliable in character screen (his own block)

Go to World Tour mode and upgrade your character to level 31 and you will fight against Shin Gouki. Defeat him and he will be avaliable in character screen (hold start before select Gouki)

Upgrade your character to level 32 and you will fight against Evil Ryu. Defeat him and he will be avaliable in character screen (his own block)

After this, your last battle will be against Shin Master Vega! It's just crash him and you will have all selecionable characters!! (hold start before select Master Vega)

In SFA3 they severely weakened Akuma. Ryu's special moves do more damage than Akuma's and Akuma no longer has juggling advantages like he did in SFA2. He may be considered a boss but I find he's one of the easiest character in the game. The characters I have most trouble defeating are Chun Li, Charlie, Guy (his grab does WAY too much damage), and Cammy.

Ken's alright, but his hurricane kick is worthless (delay afterwards). Ryu's new hurricane kick can how juggle (instead of knocking down once like in SFA2) and Ryu can juggle afterwards as well.

Ryu also has his Shin Shoryuken in SFA3 (Lv3) but it's rather difficult to use properly. If you can connect all 4 hits on the enemy it'll do a decent amount of damage but if you miss one you'll barely touch them.

Akuma just has way to many moves - if the air fireball and teleport are used well, you're going to be extremely frustrated. Even though his fireball has a lot less range now, they are still a bit surprising. And Akuma does juggle very well IMO. Shin Akuma is pretty much invincible. I don't think anyone can really match up with someone who knows how to use the double air fireball.

Playing the computer obvisouly isn't going to be much of a challenge but human players can be really cheap if they want.

Demigod
May 5th, 2002, 09:51
Akuma's air fireballs do extremely little damage and there is an easy way to get past them. I think the most dangerous part of Shin Akuma is his comboable Demon Rage. He still takes a lot of damage though, just like normal Akuma. And I found the teleport to be useless, as there is a sizable pause afterwards. It's only really good for escapes. Everytime he warps near me I unleash a Lv3 combo on his ass:D.

Kane
May 5th, 2002, 15:49
I just use the air fireballs as part of a jump in combo. I only use the Raging Dragon on someone that's floored.
I never bother with Ryu's Shin-Shoryuken, as the Shinku-tatsumakisenupukyaku does about the same damage as a 4 hit, and is easier to pull off.

Strider
May 5th, 2002, 18:12
i never use akuma's teleport, if i wanna get outa the way in sfa3 i just use his rolling move, then uppercut (fierce) the enemy from the back. I got cammy in a really big combo yesterday with akuma, started with a hurricane kick (4 hits) then a crouching uppercut (5th hit) then another hurricane kick (now up to 8 hits) and another crouching uppercut) then a final hurricane kick (11 hits)... and then as she got up i finished her off with the alpha dragon punch level 3

The 3-hit attack does little damage, but if can get the extra hit then it will inflict twice as much. The 4-hit attack will chop off 30% life. You have to execute it at the right distance though. Still, I rarely ever use the move, since the chances of doing it right are very small.

You can juggle the enemy continuously with Akuma, just use his hurricane kick and dragon punch continuously. Still, a smart opponent can get out of it easily. When I want to do a big combo I just use V-ISM Ken. When the enemy is in the corner I initialize his variable (medium) and contiously do his tatsumaku senpuu kyaku. 50+ hits and half a lifebar of damage:D

It's a juggle you did, not a combo. In Capcom games the more hits you tack onto a combo the less damage each new hit does. With my 50+ hit combo I was basically doing block damage in the end. Since your Akuma attack wasn't a combo it did the full damage of each individual attack. Besides, SFA3 has air recovery so you can get out of a juggle easily. I myself never let myself be juggled beyond 2 attacks.

Strider
May 6th, 2002, 04:59
hmm... i guess it was just a juggle.... but i myself can still call it a combo since technicall it was a chain of events which occured before they hit the ground

Demigod
May 6th, 2002, 05:20
To me a combo is a series of attacks executed in rapid succession, such that the enemy is unable to recover inbetween the attacks. In SFA3 even dizzies count in combos. If you dizzy an opponent with a 8 hit combo and follow up with another 6 hits afterwards (before they can recover) it will become a 14 hit combo, since the enemy was unable to recover between the attacks. In SFA3 you can air recover anytime after being hit so it can't really count as a combo (at least to me). BTW, was it the computer you fought against? Computer opponents always seem to air recover from anything when I play. I always play in expert mode though.

Since Street Fighter II Championship Edition, Ken Masters has been my favorite character because this is when he gained a wider arcing dragon punch, and became a little faster than Ryu (though slightly weaker)...before that the were virtual clones.

Kane
May 9th, 2002, 18:33
True. That was when the hurricane kicks differed too.
Ken's dir 3/4 hits, Ryu's did 1 and knocked down immediately. Ken's is good for combo's.

Demigod
May 9th, 2002, 19:16
Yeah but Ken's hurricane kick has big recovery time afterwards so it's a huge risk factor, especially in SSF2T and the Alpha series (super moves). I used to like Ken all the way up to SFA2 but I prefer Ryu in SFA3. His hurricane kick now juggles for multiple hits and can set the enemy up for a DP. If you use him properly you can do a huge amount of damage in a very short amount of time. Ken's been improved as well (his fierce DP now juggles mid-air opponents, and he can do shinryukens back-to-back) but not as much as other characters. The most degraded character is probably Akuma. His strength and defense have gone way down and his SFA2 combos no longer work as effectively (although he has some good juggling capabilities). He was known for his juggling capabilities in SFA and SFA2 but since everyone can juggle now he's not so special anymore.
