Here's my latest. It looks much better in Irfanview though (faster).

Anyone know how to speed up gif animations in IE? It appears to limit frame duration to no less than 8/100 of a second. This image is supposed to show each frame for 4/100 of a second. Hence, it looks better in an external image viewer. Very annoying.

Maybe I need to update IE; I'm still using 5.5.

Nah I think they are still slower with 6, the only way to speed them up is to make them faster with the editor compensating for the loss in speed.

How do you mean? I could change the speed to 1/100s for each frame in Fireworks, but IE will show it at the speed above^

Eh, I never liked images in signatures. The forum gets very cluttered.

Here's the "Perfect" version.
Actually I was missing a good 3 frames at the end that made it into a perfect loop. It's all fixed now, it may look like there is a slight jerk in the sheild arm still, but this is the way it's meant to be.

I've been thinking about doing some KOF, as well as Last Blade (which you introduced me to:) ), but...

a. The characters are rather big, and wouldn't make good avatars. I like to keep them under 100x100 pixels, 85x85 preferably.

b. There are already tons of KOF gifs out there.

There are many good programs, I asume you mean animated. I use Animation shop 3 that cames with Paint shop pro, also many people here use fireworks.

it's actually the sequel to the snes game; yes, sounds odd, a genesis sequel to a snes game, but it's true, and believe me, the genesis turned out to be much more suited for contra than an snes could ever do.

It's not that, it's just that most gifs look best on a transparent background. :)

I think R:0 B:0 G:0 (white) works as well as one type of light purple also represents transparency...but isnt that just with 3D animation?

Nice guide there GT. Question: it looks to me that you erase a thin border around the sprite you want, and then cut it from the image. Am I correct? I had always cropped the image as close to the sprite as possible, then made all background colors transparent. Works well except when some background colors are used in the sprite.

I found one of the many added features of MAMEplus is the ability to over/underclock the emulated CPU(s). By clocking down the main CPU to 10%, I can slow emulation to a crawl and easily get frame-by-frame snaps. Getting the snaps used to be one of the toughest parts of making gifs. ;)
