Hey, I heard a while ago that FF7 & FF8 r getting remakes on the PS2......How true is this??
Oh, and this might be old but I was busy a few months ago that the sequel to Chrono Cross was announced and canceled and I didn't hear a thing. What's the story?
Thanks ;)

I"ve also heard rumors about supposed "enhanced" versions of this games on the PS2. I'm not sure about the CC sequel.

Well RPGFan (www.rpgfan.com) have taken the remakes off their release date list. I think the project may have been cancelled

Probably "Infinitly Delayed" I;m sure it will happen eventually but amybe just not now, maybe they will re-release them for GC or XBox instead?

Don't know. Not the X-Box, considering it's slight deadness in Japan, but I'm inclined to believe that Square are gonna try and stick with Sony for at least this generation of consoles, which doesn't preclude ports.

It was a project anounce before the Final fantasy Movie then square a lost a lot of money and nothing else had heard since.

There was some mention of these two on PS2 in Game Informer Magazine. I saw it at Funcoland. But it also mentioned something about them being "shelved" for now. So I would not look for FF 7 or FF 8 on PS2 any time soon.

No information has popped up on the sequel since the announcement a team has been formed for the new Chrono game. Since they recently formed the team (what, like two months ago? :p), I wouldn't expect that to be coming out all that soon as well.

I saw in another post a long time ago that Square has copyrighted the 3rd Chrono game and that it is called Chrono Break. I haven't heard any word about the actual game itself.

This get's me excited. I love the Chrono Games. I don't see why they'd rerelease the FF's though. The previous rereleases didn't sell that well.

Well, I love both. Sure, the Chronoes were much better (the only thing I hated about them is that ur charecter never speaks!!) but those FF's have their moments, too.

you sicko...but they won't they lost too much money. And hope ffXI bombs which would hurt them even more.
Remember, sony gave them a billion dollars recently (well, maybe not that much, but just about as much as they lost, I think :p ) so Square should be doing just fine. I do agree though, I can't wait to see FF8 looking better than ever, i'd buy the system that it was on just to play the *new* FF8. ( I'll probably have a job by then.... ;) )

the money basically covered their asses and gave them money to continue and i doubt it gave them enough to take on side projects that could possiblity bomb.

Well, the question really is, why wouldn't it sell if it was rereleased with great enchantments??! For me, I'd buy a remake of FF7&8 and won't even think about wasting anything on FFXI.
BTW, did anyone hear about the "Another Story" extra disk coming with the international version of FFX?? Could it possibly be that square is going to make a follow-up to FFX?? Sounds wierd

I think the real question is, why is Square even making remakes? They should be putting all their efforts into making better games, not rehasing old ones with better graphics. Or if they're going to remake anything then they should translate and release the games that were never released in the US (Seiken Densetsu 3, FF3). I think that company has lost all initiative.
final fantasy 7 and 3 are as good as squaresoft gets
I wouldn't say that. Chrono Trigger, Xenogeears, Secret of Mana, and **`R are truly amazing games. There are some other gems out there too.

Um Demigod, FF3 for the SNES/Super Famicom was released in the US. It is the US version of FF6 in Japan. Or did you mean FF3 for the 8 bit Nintendo? That one was never released over here (in the US) but 100% translated versions can be found. I know I have one.

Threre is only one reason square would remake FF7 and FF8 and is if they have extras and are to lazy to make a new game. I wouldn't buy just i won't buy the new launar when comes out becuase i want to see game companies make new and oringal games.

I've got FF3 also. And 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6. My sister happens to be addicted to 2, but I'm never going to be able to play them until I pass all the higher ones first. The graphics change is too much for me at this point.
Heh, heh. Just passed FF9 last night too!
Yeah, remake the old ones with better graphics and release them on the PS2 for those who missed out on the originals (that would be me, I was 7 when FF was around, I remember somebody who had it) and doesn't know about emulating.

Yeah, that'd be pretty cool. Put FF 1-6 on a single CD!

sxamiga: Yes, I was referring to the NES version, the true FF3. I thought it was a good game for its time, much like FF5. They could re-make it with better graphics or something. Still, the game was a bit sketchy on the details of the character classes and such. At any rate I think chances are very small they'll make a port of it.

Really? Hmm, I didn't really like FF2 that much, it was just way too different for my tastes.

Looks like they're going to have remakes of Chrono Trigger and FF Tactics. Nice.
