Hello!

Are there any Parodius fans in here?

I know, I know... these games are quite old (a time, not so long ago, when 2D games still ruled the world...:p ) but they're very funny to play if you like shoot'em ups and crazy anime characters...

There are 4 game cds on psx:
-Parodius da! Deluxe pack (containing the 1st and the 2nd one)
-Sexy Parodius (the 3rd)
-Jikkyo Oshabery Parodius forever with me (still looking for it :( )
-Parowars (a war simulation game with parodius characters)

The problem is, appart from Sexy Parodius which runs almost flawlessly (music sometimes stutters a bit and never fades where it should), I can't make the others run:
-Parodius da! CD doesn't boot (although I remember being able to load the first game on a previous version of epsxe...)
-Parowars won't pass the title screen

So if you have any suggestions... please, could you tell me?

Also, if you have Parodius forever with me, could you tell if it plays well on epsxe (why not posting a screenshot of the title?)

I only have the parodius deluxe pack (containing the first and second game); the other two are unfortunately very hard to get in europe :(. I'm sure that at least in old epsxe versions it used to work. I will try it on 1.5.1 and tell you the results.

Jus tested, and Parodius PAL works here. For some reason though it had problems with my primary cd-rom drive but the secondary one worked. This could be some odd emu-thing or the cd is scratched (all other games work just fine with the primary drive). Either way you might want to try an ISO instead of running it directly from cd. I recommend using the PEOPS gpu with it.

Thanks!!!
(You make me want to play it again!!!) :D

I have the japanese version but I'll try to make an Iso to see if it helps...
I'll also try to use PEOPS gpu for a change... (I usually use Pete's Open GL gpu...)

Results soon...

Sorry... didn't work for me... :(

I tried with both cd-rom drives and Iso... With SIO irq enabled & disabled, with forced NTSC, with special game fixe activated, using PEOPS gpu, with accurate timing and subchannel read...
the game never even boot...

Oh, well...
Guess the NTSC version boot isn't the same as the PAL one...

that's too bad :( ....well, you could try using a different bios, though I doubt that'll work...

Apart from Scph1001, could you tell me what other bios work on Epsxe?

All of the PSX ones  1000, 7001, 7502. Those are the ones I have

Thanks.

Just tried them but still didn't work...

Guess I'll have to add this NTSC version to a "non working on Epsxe" page...

Parodius? Parody on Gradius....but actually it's a parody on about everything ;)

Yes, it's a serie of parodies based on gradius, with characters from other konami games...
Pure fun to play if you like 2D shooters!!

If you want to see more of it, you can look for the reviews at

For calb:
Thanks, I'll send you an email as soon as I get home...
