LOL! I pity PS2 owners that want to play this game. It looks expensive. I might get the PC version at some point, but I'm not too anxious.

"For ten dollars a month and one dollar for every character you decide to create (make as many as you want, we won't mind!), you too can experience what it's like to roleplay with lamers all day long. Ever wondered what it's like to adventure with AOLers who flunked out of primary education? WONDER NO MORE! Idiocy is included for free. For every intelligent player you run into, we guarantee at least fifty PKers, looters, scammers, and incoherent leeches. But wait, that's not all! Act now, and we'll even throw in a free chocobo plushie!* If you aren't excited about Final Fantasy XI, you should be. It's an evolution in gaming, an evolution in the mind. You may not ever return to real life again! Why go wandering around in the ghetto when you can get all your exhilarating adventures right here in a lamers-beat-all-spamfest? Thought our characters got more boring with each and every Final Fantasy? Thought we couldn't get any worse? You ain't seen NOTHING yet!"

* S&H for the chocobo plushie costs $79.95

Ryos, I loved your rant. I have ranted about FFXI myself on a number of occasion, but I have never quite matched that tirade. That was truly great.

I doubt even 20 percent of the world has internet. Think of all the poor countries, not everyone is so fortunate!.

bah, there's no way I'd ever buy an online game for a console...
i will buy FF11 for my good ol' PC, no matter how long i'll have to wait, i'm paying for one flatline already, i don't need anything else!

You guys said that the FFXI would be released on PC
that's very GOOD news!

Questions:
1. Do you HAVE to buy those hardware to enable the game??? Looks VeRy expensive to me.
2. Does the internet connection you have will AFFECT your game??? play coz you guys said it's an online game

Then, the only PRIVILEGE people can be the game smoothly

:(

Just hope those stuff would be sold on our country

I'm sure that it will run on a 56k connection. I can't see how it couldn't. Square NEEDS it to. But I am not predicting that this game will sell all that great. It just seems like it's going to be the new lamer central after AOL.

Unless they make the multiplayer free I'm not even going to bother with it.

I wouldn't bet on that, considering Square's track record on the PC. They probably won't do any optimizing for modem connections. I don't have high expectations of this game at all, either on consoles or on the PC.

Remember that most of Japan is still on dialup. They have to make sure it runs good. The PS2 has both a dialup connection and a broadband connection as well as the PC. The optimizations shouldn't be that different.

I really don't plan to get this game either, unless it is REALLY good.

Well I'll be getting broadband, but I'll be sharing it. I'll give any demo of the game a test, before I part with my hard earned cash.

Yes a 56k will affect your playing. It will be like all online games.
And seriously FFXI would waste of money for me. mabey i will try the pc version but still I perfer to play online games when they are free betas.

I used to play Rainbow Six with 56k. It ran decently. I don't get much better performance nowdays with cable.

Rainbow Six is an old game try playing CS or Metal of Honnor or Wolfinstien.

or try to do a RTS...
red alert 2 runs slow even on a 100mbit lan.... if u use LOTSA units.
And think again. there are countries where telephone ticks exist, such as here in holland. 1 hour of gameplay 1 euro

buy game 50 euros
subscription 10 euros month
line 1 euro per hour.

72 hours gameplay 72 euro in 2 months is ...... 150 for a game?
HELL NO!

fps games are not really my thing. Neither are online games come to think of it. It's a rare day indeed when I play a game online. I was think of trying the MoH: AA multiplayer demo though.

CS is one of the good shooting fps games on lan... played it a lot but varying connection makes the game suck. You see terrorist like warping due to their speed connection and before you know it, dial up user are killed without a fight. so I prefer playing network tha online.

Back to FFXI, well I'll just have to wait for the rating of the review and availability in our area... if it's good... then I'll have to save money for it :D

save your money for it and the $10 a month fee. I think any game is worth paying for the game and then paying some to play it.
