Hard? Try impossible :p
Why don't you try recreating it using a DOS window?

If you look around, you can find shots of BSODs, or even screensavers for Windows 2k.
But what OS are your computers at school running? Every OS has a different Blue Screen. (I have yet to see one in Windows XP)

It looks just like any NT/2000 BSOD. :p I got quite a few while testing drivers for my V3.

yes, dos is really easy to use. here is my fav startup pic i made. for win 95 and 98 just open c:\logo.sys in paint and paste this on it (the palatte is wierd and so is the resolution so you have to start with that one).

How do you make the startup logo for windows me?
G-Pitts
April 13th, 2002, 08:34
Same as Win 95/98 I guess... Just put the logo.sys file in c:\
Omega
April 13th, 2002, 14:25
Isn't in the Win\ folder? :p
cshakenbake
April 13th, 2002, 14:56
no, i have ME on my shared computer and it is in the root dir, but it is hidden and even doing show all things won't let you see it. to change it you have to open c:\logo.sys in paint then it is there. to make sure, just open it and if it doesn't find it, well, its not there;) so yea, G-Pitts, it is there.
Omega
April 13th, 2002, 15:17
in ME+ vrs is in the main hd folder, but past vrs 95/98 is in the win folder, like the logow, and logos files :)

I like XP's startup. Plain and simple. :)
Omega
April 14th, 2002, 00:34
What the XP startup looks like? i've never saw it :D
ShADoWFLaRe85
April 14th, 2002, 01:01
It just has the Windows XP logo in the middle of the screen and then a small bar animation underneath it all on a black background. :)
Omega
April 14th, 2002, 01:15
Hmm interesting ;), maybe you should post the image here :D
you know how to do that dontcha?
ShADoWFLaRe85
April 14th, 2002, 01:23
A startup screen? nope...
Omega
April 14th, 2002, 01:34
You know the logo.sys? if you know, 1st thing you do is copy the file. than with the copied you change it extension to .jpg or .bmp than it became a image :D
ShADoWFLaRe85
April 14th, 2002, 04:46
This is XP, not 98. I don't think that'll work. ;)

April 14th, 2002, 14:54
Since I'm such a nice guy I took the blue screen picture and got rid of most of the distorsion. Just to make it more belivable.:D
Omega
April 14th, 2002, 16:47
Hey gotrunks i already posted that image
Hydra
April 14th, 2002, 16:50
I got rid of the distortion.
Omega
April 14th, 2002, 17:01
Hmm it doesn't changed in my opinion, but thanks :D
Esturk
April 14th, 2002, 17:10
If you wanna get rid of the distortion completely make it a BMP or a PNG.
Hydra
April 14th, 2002, 17:22
Well changing to BMP will not get rid of the distortion that has already been created during the Re-size.
Omega
April 14th, 2002, 19:46
Yeah that;s true,1st you have to save it in .bmp than save another one to .jpg
ShADoWFLaRe85
April 14th, 2002, 22:48
Wouldn't it almost be easier to recreate the image by manually typing the text onto a blue background at a bigger size with an identical font?
Omega
April 15th, 2002, 02:04
Which font that image uses?
Strider
April 15th, 2002, 02:43
i would guess it uses the system font
ShADoWFLaRe85
April 15th, 2002, 07:00
It probably does use the system font.

If anyone had a free time, just make a try, the text is:

Don't forget to give the "Windows" text that background. ;)
Maybe I'll give it a try l8r.

April 15th, 2002, 18:39

win xp startup screen is a wierd .exe file that has the animation in it. anyone that doesn't have xp can't see it, IIRC
oh, yea, for slimshady or anyone else, sure you can use them. i just made them on my spare time in photoshop 5.5 at school ;)
one more thing, if you want to use these, you have to first convert to .bmp with the same color palatte as the origional (if there is any intrest i can post it here) then rename it to logo.sys.

Yeah...I just figured it out. It's located in your %windowsroot%\system32 folder. It's called ntoskrnl.exe You can change it by going into safe mode and replacing the file. IE - here's a screenshot of one I used:
I huse BootXP (www.bootxp.net) to change it. It's nagware, but it works :)
This is the one I use

It looks like that thing allows you to even preview the ani. How does BootXP work? Still have to revert into safe mode?
No, it modifies the boot.ini I think. It seems to dissapear after a while tho.
ShADoWFLaRe85
May 2nd, 2002, 19:33
Oh. I prefer my method then :p

I also prefer the old method (boot to safe mode). I got my bootscreen here
