Woo Hoo! It's been pushed WAAAAAY back for PS2, but it should be out for GameCube in a matter of months. Possibly by the end of the year. This is a game that I have always wanted to try, but being poor as hell, I couldn't afford a Dreamcast. I am thinking that I will definately be picking up a copy of this game when it is released. Man, I just hope I can afford it. The list of games I want grows every day. Too many games coming out right now I tell you. :(
Anyways, I just wanted to ask the Dreamcast owners here how the game is. Is it really good, so-so, or does it suck? Because I really am thankful for the Sega love that Nintendo is getting right now.

I've had Skies of Arcadia since it was released on the Dreamcast. I personally loved it because of how similar it is to the Age of Exploration during the fifteenth century especially. I am a bit concerned about the ports because I have a feeling they will have more voiceovers implemented because the DC had plans for more voiceovers that were (thankfully) not followed through. Reasons why I love this game:
- great characters
- fairly unique plot
- pretty good music
- neat battle system (that gets old, unfortunately :p)
- fairly challenging game, depending on whether you build up the characters
- cool looking attacks that DON'T take five minutes to play out. But if you don't want to wait for them to play out, you can even SKIP them and continue the battle (how profound ;))
- very neat environments, both the locations and the people
- the main "theme" of the game. There are a number of themes in the game, but there is a very central one that more people should make note of. It's crucial for understanding how people live their lives, and way too many do not realize that.
This is the best RPG I've played since Suikoden 2. It certainly isn't the best RPG, but it's probably the best next gen RPG this side of Xenosaga. :p

It's out now for Dreamcast.
It should be out by the end of the year for GameCube.
It should be out sometime AFTER March 2003 for PS2.
There are no plans for its release on Xbox.
