Well ive been working hard writing out lots of web pages messing around with CGI and outher things but now the web site is more than the words UNDER CONSTRUCTION

well you can get some scripts to work but its a bit dodgy i mcurrently waiting for a reply froma differnt host

Tripod does support CGI,....with forums scripts...it sucks....!

Damn, I haven't used any of those free webhosts for so long, I don't know what they do and don't support anymore. Having your own server is so nice. You know exactly what is and isn't going to work. If something isn't supported, you can always add the support later on down the road, if you wish. :)

Just a suggestion: Try to get a dedicated server, even if it isn't very powerful. Don't make your server machine and personal machine the same. If you work your pc a lot, you always eventually have to restart. Those server OSes take a hell of a long time to boot, shutdown, and restart. Especially if you have a lot of software installed. I remember, when I was doing that, I had to sit, I swear, 10 minutes waiting for it just to restart. ;)

Not going to be. We are gonna have a P133 w/80Mb RAM as our server. We may use the K6-2 350 when we finaly find the baord :p

Tripod UK offer a load of new stuff e.g. php 4, MySQL for free.
PHP is a bit limited for server funtions because of security issues, but If you have pages with .php you can have a banner free site (Keep it a secret till they click, but have a link to them somewhere to be kind ;) ).
However, they are experiencing a lot of server downtimes recently, but I have yeat to find a free server that has the same features.

It's real annoying cause they have such a good free service. :(
Sunhost at the mo are working to have php4 very soon but arent too sure with MySQL.
I'm gonna get an account anyway, could use it cause everything else they have rocks !! :)
No more places for others at the moment though, you'll have to wait a bit unfortunatly.
