Got a few question:
1. How many CDs are there in this game?
2. Does it use DVD-rom?
3. Can it run well on my system?
AMD Duron 800, nVidia Riva TNT2 M64, 256 MB rams.
I know my graphic card sucks, planning to get a GF2 but I was adviced to wait a bit more for GF3.:(
Thanks in advance.

The game is 2 CDs, the first disc is for installation (and some part of the second CD as well) and the second CD is the game CD. The game runs well on my DVD-ROM drive, although I use the ISO. The game should run on your system but you should keep to lower resolutions. I have a P3 1 Ghz and a GeForce 2 Pro and I can run it at 1024x768x16 with 4xFSAA with minimal slowdowns in high polygon scenes.

I thought the discs are copy protected, how can you copy it?

Hello everyone.
To get the screenshot image, after you press the print screen key, you must paste it somewhere, for example MSpaint or any graphic software like photoshop. MSpaint would be easier.
I've bought Grandia 2 PC version and played it for about an hour. Great graphic, should I say. Yep, the game has 2 CDs, one for install and one for playing. But somehow the gameplay isn't so smooth as I expected. There are still a little bit framerate slowdown, even though it is not too obvious. However, the battle goes smoothly, at least for now.

Even if a game is copyrighted you can generally create an image of it to use on your hard drive.
Thats why Making ISO images has become such a popular form of backing up your PSX games.

What I meant is that there is some kind of protect mechanism that prevents you read from a CD-copying software. I tried to make a 1-1 copu with CloneCD but it said there is a bad sector so it can't read the disk at all. I tried Daemon tool instruction on how to make iso with psx copy games but it doesn't work...

Game companies put bad sectors on there purposely. just replace them with all zeros or something and the game will still run fine.

Yes, just press CTRL-V to paste it. Let me remind the process. Press PRINT SCREEN to take the screenshot. Press ALT-TAB to go to windows. Then PASTE or press CTRL-V to a graphic tools like MSPaint, save and that's it. Here is a sample, a scene from normal battle. I shrinked the size to make it smaller.;)

Any graphics program will do just fine. So, yes, you may use ACDSee and Photoshop if you wish. :)

Depends on whether you like Grandia or not. If you liked Grandia, the odds are you might like Grandia 2. If you didn't like Grandia, you may like Grandia 2 more. If you hated Grandia with a passion, the odds are you definitely won't like Grandia 2. The plot starts all right, the battle system is as good as if not better than the original, the music is mediocre as far as Iwadare's music is concerned (but, since Iwadare is so good, that means it's more or less just pretty good), the graphics are decent and sometimes pretty good, the cast is fairly enjoyable despite a few very annoying voiceovers, and the game is ridiculously easy (I'd say the easiest RPG ever made). It's a fairly enjoyable game. As long as you don't go into playing it with your expectations too high, you shouldn't mind it.

Another comment about Grandia 2. I have just arrive at the final dungeon, when you do arrive, don't be surprised as I found that the playtime is rather short for an RPG. You can reach the final dungeon at least 20 hours of game time.

bummer. :( I guess i should spend 20 hours leveling up then. :p

I took some screenshots at 1024x768 last night and I'll post them tonight. But I also had some problems w/the game. After I was done taking the shots, I went to continue playing and the game unloaded itself completely. It was like it was never there. Another time, it caused a Windows protection error and I had to reboot. It locked up on me another time. Plus, at the opening part, just before you see trees and people, all I get is a black screen. I can hear music and the games is still working but I can't see anything until I get past that part. Does anyone elsa have, or have they had, problems w/this game? If this continues, I will be unable to play and enjoy the game. I mean, a Windows Protection error, now that is pretty serious, to my way of thinking. Thanks for any replies.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

Its my suspicions are correct, it might be due to a sloppy port again.. how sad.. :(

sxamiga: I think something may be wrong with your system. That opening part is supposed to be a movie, and it plays fine for me (BTW, all spells and some special attacks use FMVs so you might have trouble with them as well). I also haven't encountered any Windows protection errors (not a single crash) and I can alt-tab out of it and go back in without any problems. There were some data loading problems later on but they went away when I restarted the game. The game works fine in both my Windows ME and Windows XP systems.

Get the PC version. Although your GPU aint great, it's ok. Your CPU is more than enough, so it should look better tahn the DC version.

I'll check and see if Target has it today, while I'm out. Then, most likely, pick it up tommorrow. I'm sure they do, though. Super Target has EVERYTHING. Except for pc components, that is. :)

I dunno about a patch. Updating drivers could work.
About the game, i just finished it. I LOVE THE MUSIC!
I LOVE THE FIGHTS. I LOVE THE SPECIAL MOVES(my fav: sworn enemies.... U SHALL BE DEFEATED!!!!!)
I like the ending.
I thought the game sucked at the beginning and couldn't live up to grandia. But it got better as i progressed in the game.
Its a nice game. Could have gotten a better plot, but still has a nice plot.

I just got my first job (I'm 17), so I'm going to pick up the game with my first paycheck. I loved the DC version. Even if it runs slow on my comp, I have a friend who has a much better one than mine.

I think it's a good thing that they converted this game to PC
I believe that it'll reel in some cash... Couldn't they that most good games converted to pc will reel in some cash: soul caliber. the doa series..
come on.... Everyone wants to play those games and the pc's nowadays have MORE than enough power to do it.

the PS2 version is agonizingly slow in towns.. :(

April 11th, 2002, 03:53
Really? Even when they're in "run" mode? It's pretty fast in mine, I think I get around 80fps or so. :p

I need a better monitor. I'm sure I'm locked at 60fps because of my max of 60hz refresh at 1280 x 1024 rez (my res of choice)

Well, the town where that FATASS lives, my gf3ti200 can't do it anymore 1024x768x32 4xaa, then it gets slow. But disabling 4xaa.... all frames there.....
astroduck
April 11th, 2002, 08:12
The only complaint i got in that game is that the FMV is too blurred and is so obviously the quality sucks and is particularly noticeable on 19 inch monitor
Shiori
April 11th, 2002, 08:24
The FMVs are really blurry, prolly because they were ripped straight from the DC.

You can also try using 16bit color. It hardly makes any difference at all graphically and practically doubles frame rates.

April 11th, 2002, 09:37
nah, and the sky dragon slash really looks bad with 16bit colors

Question: there are lotsa scenes of dialog where no buttonpresses are needen but there is no spoken text. Is this because of the ps2 being a dvd?
