my own oscars to RPG video games (PC and Console):
Some games listed people may not think of RPGs, but I am listing them because I feel they have enough of a plot and RPG elements to qualify.
__________________________________________
Best supporting character (NPC/Minor): Richmond (Suikoden 2), Ellone (FF8), Zelda (Zelda games), Maria (Castlvania: SOTN), T.G. Cid (FFT)
and the winner is...... Thunder God Cid form Final Fantasy Tactics, AKA Orlandu.
__________________________________________
Best villain in a supporting role: Ultros (FF6), Seymor (FFX (can't spell), Harle(Chrono Cross) and Elle [Trranigma (Don't ask, spoiler)]
and the winner is..... Ultros from Final Fantasy VI
__________________________________________

Kefka's acceptance speech:
Ohh, Im so happy. HAHAHA. I would like to thank all citizens of Castle Doma for dieing from poison for me. Id like to thank the emperor for actually truting me, so I could kill him. BUt most importantly I thanks myself, for no one can be as psychotic as me.

I reckon you should have had a poll for it, man. Two awards to a thread, coz I think that Chrono was a better lead, and I would be a bit iffy on the Kefka/ Irenicus debate as Irenicus seemed more of a force of unstoppable Evil, and he stole your soul.

I think the are two other persons that should be nominated as the best villain (supporting or lead role). They are Lord Yuna and Yohm from Breath of Fire 4. Seing what they've done to Mami and Elina made me really furious. I don't know why, but I can't accept the fact that they use human as sacrifice to launch Carronade. Watching the sacrificial place really made me wanna punch the screen to release my anger. And poor Elina.:emb:

yeah, but in a poll here Kefka would prolly win, just cuz more people play the console RPGs than the PC ones. I just would hope Kefka would beat Sephiroth, cuz he was the better villain.

i wouldnt have voted for kefka as best villain, and from polls ive seen which kefka was in he never won... you see, the thing is, kefka isnt evil, he's just a stupid dumb cross-dressing fa**ot, i would have voted for lynx most likely in that category.
RhombusYSS
March 26th, 2002, 00:11
Kefka's mad evil, and he kills more people on-screen than most video game villains actually... He kills all of Doma, Leo, the Emperor, all the espers - and that's all on-screen! If the graphics were better it would look much more evil (probably). Oh yeah, plus he singlehandedly nukes most of the world, fries villages that displeases him, etc.
Anyway, um, oh yeah... A couple more categories...
Best female in a leading role:
Marle (Chrono Trigger), Kid (Chrono Cross), Terra (FF VI), Elly (Xenogears), Rinoa (FF VIII)
And the winner is... Elly!!
Best cinematography:
Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy X, Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Summoner (PC)
And the winner is... Xenogears!!
Best special effects (on this forum perhaps should be called the FB award):
BOF IV, Chrono Cross, FF VII, FF VII, Xenogears
And the winner is... Chrono Cross!!

kefka is a little wussy throughout most of the game, he runs away from you time and time again... if i could consider him anything it would be a whining dirt bag...
> Best female in a leading role:
no way, its kid...
> Best cinematography:
again its crono cross... xenogears has so-so cinematics... and the voice dubbing is horrible, but have you ever seen the quality of the chrono cross movies and the detail on the cg work?
> Best special effects (on this forum perhaps should be called the FB award):
id agree with chrono cross but thats cause of the immensive 3d graphics and backgrounds
i just noticed i voted for chrono cross in all the catergories... i do like chrono cross but not that much... its just that the 3 categories u chose are the best things in cc

Id give to FFX
> Best special effects (on this forum perhaps should be called the FB award):
Again, would definitely give this one to FFX, just for Anima's overdrive.

****ing screw you Ayu, mind your own business, if you don't care, DON'T POST TO COMPLAIN, thats called spam.
Ayu-zrepiV
March 26th, 2002, 03:34
uh... one thing... spam is the internet BS that i get in my F-ing inbox, not a question regarding this topic. ok?
and, one more thing, who said i was complaining? don't jump to conclusions too fast, sheesh... maybe i shouldn't ask a question that's relates to EVERYONE...

March 26th, 2002, 05:06
When I said cinematography I meant like how they frame the shots in the game mainly, not really the cinematic qualities of the actual movie playback. I just think Xenogears as a game was presented really beautifully and artistically. I do agree though, for the movies, I wouldn't rate it too high... The anime cuts are few and far-between and yah the voice dubbing is absolutely horrible.

*jaw drops 15 times*
"yes, it is" ... xenogears is cool though and i guess i confused what u meant by cinematography but i still stand by my choice as kid being the best female in a leading role :)

Best FMVs:
Nominations:
Final Fantasy VIII(PSX)
Final Fantasy X(PS2)
Chrono Cross(PSX)
Legend of Dragoon(PSX)
And the Winner is:
Final Fantasy X(PS2). No real surprises there, as FFX has FMV of a quality nearing the recent movie.
(Please note that this award is for quality of the FMV, not the plot/etc.. thus entwined)

the best character shou;d be SQUall and best music chrono cross
Strider
March 27th, 2002, 20:28
nah, i think the best character should be chrono, and the best music be final fantasy 6... chrono cross had some nice music, including my favourite music theme from any game, but, it only had 2 or 3 good musics that i really liked, as opposed to ff6, which had good music every place you go
Kane
March 27th, 2002, 20:31
I thought Chrono Trigger has superb music too. Chrono isn't a strong main character. I think Cloud's dilemma about his exsistence is good, but I also think Ashley from Vagrant Story is a good character. However, having not completed it, or Xenogears, I couldn't really say

Character theme? Is taht the Coin song?
Sylvan Sorrow
March 27th, 2002, 22:09
the coin theme is one part of it. The character theme is everything up to the point of getting to your airship after you beat kefka. don't really well, its like 9 minutes long
Kane
March 27th, 2002, 22:17
I must not have it at the mo. I have the orchesteral version of Terra's theme (7.57)and The Opera Themes (23.01), but nothing that is 9 min. I'll have to aquire that.
Sylvan Sorrow
March 27th, 2002, 22:30
well, its part of the ending theme, so its also 18 minutes long or so, but Im talking about only the first half.

RhombusYSS
March 28th, 2002, 00:04
Haha, I'm sure the debates here will never end. I definitely agree with the FF6 music and ending awards... I actually have an mp3 of the end that has the music for the whole thing, it runs straight for 21 and a half minutes... It includes the character endings, airship part and credits. Anyway, as for Chrono for best main character... he was definitely cool (and probably the strongest relatively of main characters - I like beating lavos singlehandedly with chrono in new game +) but I can't really give best main character to someone who has no lines throughout the entire game. I'm tossed up between Cloud and Fei... it's a tough choice... As for the swords from castlevania... the rune blade is a fun weapon, but the crissaegrim is MUCH more powerful, you can continually do it while walking, and even though its attack power is lower, it hits like a million times. Of course, with the Alucard shield and the shield rod, no weapons are required at all! If you use the shield rod spell with the Alucard shield, it turns the alucard shield into a weapon that hits quickly and continuously as long as the shield is drawn, and each hit takes off over 200 hp in addition to healing 8 hp per hit... Way too powerful... you can beat any boss in about 5 seconds using this method.

Lilarcur, the talking sword from Baldur's Gate 2? I agree, that THING is funny.:D Some of his words, "Murder Death Kill! Murder Death Kill!", "What's my status?! Since when did you care about me?!":D
