Right, so I recently decided to start playing HoMM3 again. I installed and tried to run it, but I got that "Heroes3 has encountered a problem and needs to shut down" message. Tried all the usual tactics, like shutting down and restarting, reinstalling, etc. Now I'm running XP, which the Heroes games don't support, but I think (can't really remember) I've played it on this comp before. Any suggestions?
[edit] New development: The demo runs fine.

Did you try www.ntcompatible.com ?
BTW there's a new games section. I'll put this there as you might get more help.

After I read your post I tried this game here, worked perfectly (both 1.0 and 1.4). And I'm also using Windows XP.

Well, since the original post is 8 months old I believe he either fixed the problem or gave up already. :p
