ro is an ok game, but is a beta and has lots of flaws and bugs. Not metion the lag and looters. Which the reason I have started to get back in emulation.

Yes and it still beta but why have to care about it ?
Since they open server for free play.
Even CS start popular since it still beta version.
Anyway I love this game.

I just started playing RO again for a little bit, its still the same as when I stopped playing about 2 months ago.. had to download patches 52-67 which wasnt fun. I can still kill metallers with 220hp though, and thats all that matters. I level too slow and there is WAY too many people playing now (I'm used to 2000, now there is about 7000). You're lucky if you can get a kill off. Anyway, I got a 29/22 swordsman of the same name as my ngemu account, I dont play very often, and if I do, I'm usually in the southern deserts. I would've thought they brought it out of beta and released either a new version or the commercial version by now though..

i started playing it quite a while ago, my friend zrepiV introduced me to it, lately however i got bored... i got a lvl 32/27 swordsman i think... and some other characters but they're weak...

yeah... that game is kinda mindless if you ask me. all you do is try to slash things and kill em and click as fast as you can to pick up the items before the other people get them... -_- i had a theif, but, i hardly use that dude anymore, i have a swordsman now but, i don't even play the game anymore. maybe when i'm bored i'll be klling more porings or whatever i can.

i miss the days with only 1.5 thousand ppl, gravity is trying to fit waaaaaaaaay too many ppl on 1 server, those dam* noobs are ruining our game... that was the start of the decline for me, when it started being 3.5 k people it was unbearable to play, now its just ridiculous. Nuff said.

It not hard to get lv becuase first person who attrack moster will get all exp now I gain in payon and morroc border forset area.
Not many people there.
One thing very annoy is there are some people want free money
They will ask you everywhere even for 30 zeeny I don't know why ???

People are lazy. You always run into people like that in MMORPGs. Why take the effort to go get something yourself when you can annoy other people into eventually giving you money?

Kill about 10-15 mosters u will got 30 zenny easy
When you got high lv u will discover 1000z enny is not hard to get at all.

actually it takes much much less... for me its 1-2 monsters for that much... the raccondogs are good to kill in that game

215 megs isnt really a lot, besides, mine is 275... i suppose its cause of the 3d backgrounds, the izlude maps were like 30 megs alone i think

graphics look similar to Saga Frontier 2.
from what i've read, this seems a lot like Diablo 2... and diablo 2 got boring pretty quick.
how big are the worlds in this game (i guess compared to D2) and how many enemies are there?

No fee to play because it's in beta. No one knows when they'll stop it and finally release the game, but the company that made the game isnt sure they will release it in the US when it does go commercial. Its basically free for testing. And no, its not spyware.

im not enigma but trust me the english server (not plural btw) is not working... in the words of someone famous... the server is never down, it is just temporarily unavailable while maintenance is being performed

The beta period will likely not end for QUITE a while. There are a ton of areas left to put in, and there are also quite a few bugs up.

almost never die at lvl 14? u still fighting porings ? try goin up against the ghouls and hunter bees and stuff in the hidden forest maze thingy above prontera, 191 hps? thats pretty good for lvl 14, i got 547 hps at lvl 28 i think... i got a 2 hand axe but it sucks, i miss my halberd

36k is more than enough to play RO, most of its lag is because of RO's server, not you. I did a test on RO compared to other games:

(24 players) Return to Castle Wolfenstein = 12megs sent, 14megs recieved
(3 players) Shogo Multiplayer = 10 megs sent, 11 megs recieved
(~5600 players, 3-20 on screen) Ragnarok Online = 660k sent, 1.3megs recieved

All games were played for about an hour each, so you can see that I'm definately not getting enough recieved/sent from/to Gravity's server. They're the ones that are lagging, also note that in RO you have to recieve data from everyone else that is moving around you, so I'd think the number would be higher than that of the 3-player Shogo game.

Oh.. yeah.. that was hell. It should be better now though, when I started downloading it, not only was I still on AOL, but it was about 3-4 days after it first came out. I ended up getting it from fileplanet or something, and it took about 3 straight nights (I dont download big stuff during the day). I got about 80megs a night, was finished on the 3rd day of downloading. It was worth it though, I just played a new game of FF7 until it was done (got through disc1 in that time!).

Man, Ragnarok's crashed like twenty times in the last half an hour of playing for me. :( I move into a new screen and I've been disconnected. I sit around recovering my health and find I've been disconnected. Oof.

I remember when I used to retain large amounts of zeny like that, now I'm addicted into buying potions so I dont have to sit down as much, we need a point in the game where we can just talk to a healer and all hp/sp will be healed! I can't see how can play that game. It was funa t first I met nice people they joined my party. Then 6000 people on the server, The lag and looters it sucked the fun out of it. They are not bots they are people that didn't log off correctly. Like you get disconected, rebot, or the crashes before you log off correctly the server thinks you are still on and you continue to be on.

The lage generally affects you only in areas with a large number of people in it (like the desert). Go to a place with fewer people, and the speed will be much more reasonable. There isn't much you can do about looters, but that's a problem with just about any MMORPG. At least it isn't as bad in other games, thanks to that timed pickup based on contribution scheme.

I know, but the autopatch thing went EXTREMELY slow, and was pointless. Nowadays, I dont need sites like ropak0, because the autopatcher is not only working, but it's fast. Ro-World going down sucked though, it was around that time when I stopped playing for a while (just now getting back into it).

You need to understand why peole go afk. One they are regian some hp(like what I do) and they this to let you know they are not there. Becuase i have gone afk and some got upset with becasue I didn't help. i aggre with the people that go sleep and leave on. they should be kicked off the server but you are just leave for a couple of minutes to regian hp it is ok.

regaining hps is ok but youre not gonna regain many hps without hp regeneration... and the people i encounter usually stay for hours as afk

Acolytes are getting to be very rare, like archers, at least in the desert where I level they are. Alls I ever see are theives and swordsmen, and a some magicians every now and then. Enigma is going to pass me in level pretty soon.. gotta keep fighting!

I just started playong ro agian and it is better than it was before. But I almost stoped the patcher after the first half an hour it took to patch itself. And what class should I pick for second char? I was thinking aco, swordsmen, or archer. i all ready have a thief that I am using to get z and them buy some nice starting equipment.

What is better a swordmens or a aco I have a thief already?

I find an acolyte can be much better than a swordsman, given a few levels of growth. His healing powers put the maximum of 50 HP per ten seconds of a swordsman to shame. He can't be as strong as a warrior (except, depending on how you build him, against the undead), but he can pretty much last forever in a battle. On the other hand, it's much easier to screw up an acolyte than a swordsman. :p
