Xebra is giving me hell

So I decided to give Xebra a try and I'm quite impressed on how well it emulates the audio (very close to the real deal), but there are two issues I'm facing. The first one, the keys are not saved so I can't use the keyboard and two, and two, stopping the audio from skipping. The way this emulator is set up is confusing when it comes to the UI. Any hints or up-to-date guide on how to properly configure this and SAVE the configuration? I don't even know if my version if up-to-date...

I went googling and it said that you have to exit XEBRA once you configured it so that it will be saved?

Turn off "Save" option in the Sound Output, It records a .wav file of the audio it played.
No need for that.

Turn on "Nearest" and "Progressive" in the Video Output menu.

In the controller menu just re-select your device from the dropdown menu.

Did that, but the device settings never get saved, it resets once I close the window, making it impossible to control anything. Maybe I'm using an unofficial version...? Where can I get the latest stable release? And after unchecking the "save" box, what settings do I use for the audio config (what's with the 20000, 30000, etc)? The way these are numbered confuse me, but yes, I know that this isn't the most user-friendly emulator but I want to try it out nevertheless.

Thanks, but is there a reason it isn't saving the controller settings, even after I exit when I change it? Trying to edit the config.txt file is a joke since it uses UTF-8 or some weird format (if the Japanese characters would display, I'd have an easier time reading it). Maybe I'll delete the config file and start from scratch since I can't control the games at all.

Update 12:01 PM - Okay, I managed to get a version that was released earlier this month and, oddly enough, the controls work fine, even though the config doesn't have them selected. Sure, using a keyboard isn't the most ideal way to play PSX games, bur I guess I could always use JoyToKey (or whatever it's called). Now, to get rid of the random skipping that happens every 20-25 seconds.

Not sure what problems are you experiencing but Xebra works fine here with controller (xbox 360 and ps2 pad with converter).

As for sound I see you have modified settings. Have you to download it from the official site (http://drhell.web.fc2.com/ps1/)?
Try Min 10000, Mid 30000, Max 50000.

Btw: Before the upgrade I had the same CPU as you and it ran fine, so its't not the PC, just some settings somewhere.

I think audio skipping is tied to your CPU power. At 2.4ghz I was getting skipping but I turned on turbo for 3.2 and it disappeared

This is terrible emu to use on a laptop because software based emulation and mobile CPUs don't get along too well. It doesn't use your GPU at all so you need a really fast CPU
