I like how authentic Xebra feels but sometimes I want my games to look a little sharper, is there an option I'm just not seeing here or do I have to use another emu for that?

You'll need to use another emulator. Xebra is an accurate emulator and, as such, does not increase the framebuffer resolution beyond that which is activated by the game. Typically, that's 320x240.

When I moved from ePSXe to XEBRA I guess I too was a little disappointed in the lack of graphical options at first.
But seeing as how this is a pure accurate PSX emulator and all my past ePSXe troubles suddenly went away I didn't care about it, after all XEBRA is the closest thing you'll get to a real PSX really. And I rather have all my games playable rather then having a bunch playable with bling bling.
While ePSXe have made the games look really good with the various plugins, it have somehow ruined the authentic PSX feeling since that's not how I remember the games at all, sharp image full of glitches.

For 3D games, the notion of increasing the framebuffer size and using modern rendering techniques is an intriguing one but it seems impossible to do this without introducing serious artifacts in the case of PSX hardware emulation. Of course, it can also harm 2D games with pretty pixel-based artwork.
If anything, I think it would be fantastic if it were possible to use pixel shaders, like in some other emulators. That way, it would be possible to simulate a CRT look (complete with soft 480i style scanlines) by using shaders such as the excellent CRT.OpenGL. It would allow for a more authentic experience with our modern, super-sharp, high-res LCD displays. Because OpenGL is already used by XEBRA to render the framebuffer, I presume it wouldn't be difficult to add support - though I don't see it happening. The alternate option would be to use a Micomsoft XRGB-3 video processor, which is very expensive.

Another thing I noticed is that enabling the "Nearest" option in the emulator can result in sub-optimal upscaling. I suppose GL NEAREST MIPMAP NEAREST is just not very accurate. This is unfortunate, because applying bi-linear filtering to the whole image is not accurate and is not a particularly good way of simulating a CRT so it would be nice to have better scaling with it off. I think it would be better if the upscaling were performed in software (perhaps using Lancsoz). As long as the CPU isn't a bottleneck, it could outperform even the most expensive off-board video processor.

2D games like Castlevania and Mega Man look good and not quite as blurry as 3D games like Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. I remember that the Resident Evil's was kinda blurry on the old phat TV but not how much blurry.
I'm actually perfectly OK with the blurriness, feels more authentic then ePSXe's cosmetica.
XEBRA, a big hallelujah.

I've tried it in a particular DOSBox build and it's really something special. I'm sure this is never going to happen in XEBRA (if its development is even being continued) but, well, a man can dream!

WHOAA that CRT.OpenGL looked really nice, ha ha suddenly all phat TV memories comes rushing back :)
Is there any possibility to use that with Snes9X?

It's also possible to use them in bsnes.
