Okay, so I posted a video showing Sonic the Hedgehog 2, right? Well, immediately after posting it, I get a "friendly" reminder telling me I may have violated a copyright from some loser organization called FuturePublishing, which turns out to be a videogame magazine publisher in the UK. There are a few problems with this alleged "violation" seeing as FuturePublishing does NOT own the rights, Sega Enterprises owns them. The second problem is that every country outside the US uses the term "Megadrive" and not "Genesis", so maybe the title I used set it off. Did I have a tag or name that caught some douchebag's attention or what? Can I re-upload this video, name it something else and avoid getting a false accusation? I own the bloody game for crap's sake. What right does an asinine non-Sega affiliated company have to give me a warning like this? I deleted the video as a precaution, as I don't want to be suspended, but if I can, I will re-upload it. FuturePublishing can go to hell for all I care. Any suggestions? It doesn't make sense as there are other videos showing the exact same thing, i.e. STH2 gameplay.

Umm.......argue your case to youtube? The video will be put back up if it falls within fair use, and that publisher will probably be black listed.

I'm way ahead of you, I already filed a dispute and hopefully like you said, that douchebag publisher will be blacklisted. I personally don't see anything morally wrong with posting something like this. I could see it being an issue if it was a music video, but gameplay from a videogame? oO

Tell Youtube the complaint is bogus and they can go **** themselves. Same thing happened with Neowin and Facebook recently. Except it was some banned loser that filed a complaint against the Neowin Facebook page claiming to own the trademark and that Neowin was a robotic toy factory registered and trademarked in the USA/UK. Facebook absolutely refused to look into it, even after Neowin pointed out the complaint was bogus, no such trademark or company existed in the USA/UK, and the name belonged to them and not the loser filing the bogus complaint.
Luckily Neowin is a big community and has the backing of some media organizations, with some bad publicity, upset users, and fighting with Facebook the page was finally reinstated.
Neowin.net - Neowin's Facebook page taken offline - We're Back! (Again) (http://www.neowin.net/news/neowin039s-facebook-page-taken-offline-by-bogus-complaint)
These companies need actual people or groups dedicated to looking into intellectual property complaints, that way anyone can't file a complaint and get an entire page or video removed. The fact that Facebook or Youtube don't provide adequate means to dispute the claim is appaling. They just tell you to contact the complaining party to resolve the claim which does no good if:
A. They are doing it to troll.
B. They provide fake contact details.

FuturePublishing seems to be a bunch of trolling wa**ers as far as I can tell. Seriously. Who do they think they are? They don't own Sonic, now do they?
Edit 7:11PM - I'm almost convinced that some jerk is doing this to me, i.e. certain people who don't agree with my views on emulation accuracy.

You may have set off one of YouTube's many automated restricted content detection algorithms, which are run without human intervention.

Crap. Any way to fix it, or make it so the video doesn't set it off? Out of all my uploaded videos, this one had to do it.

It may involve more trials than warnings left, but one can try narrowing down whether the flag came from the audio or the video. The former would either have to be removed or have background music mixed into it, but the latter may be circumvented by flipping the offending video clip horizontally, resizing it, passing it through some video filters, and/or reducing the quality.

It's being tagged as a video/visual infringement, but both the audio and video are still intact. How long that will last I don't know, but I'll re-upload the video with a different name (i.e. Fusion 2011-05-04 16-18-01-07 ) with reduced video quality. Unless there's another free place I can upload these videos without getting tagged, I'm sticking with youtube.

If it is not a video entirely with recorded gameplay (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vimeo#Gaming_videos_deletion), try Vimeo (http://www.vimeo.com/).

It still doesn't sit right. People post walkthroughs of games all the time on youtube.

Other videos seem to upload fine, especially when I don't name them immediately upon uploading them (keeping the default video name that FRAPS gave it). Still, FuturePublishing are being douchebags at this point. oO

That defeats my purpose of making them in the first place; they are just that, gameplay videos. It's not like I'm making and/or uploading music videos, now am I? Who's the schmuck responsible for making gameplay videos "infringing"? Who do they think they are, DMCA cronies? Like I said previously, there are dozens of other videos with gameplay from this exact game, but as to why mine was targeted is beyond me. I no longer can upload this video without the draconian Nazi-copyright filter kicking in.

Wouldn't that just make them more likely to come after me, especially if they tell me that I'm "using copyrighted material" (and I'm pretty sure what I'm doing ISN'T illegal)?

Heh. Oh, don't worry, I won't say jack squat about my youtube username OR provide a video link. I'll just tell them how FuturePublishing is harassing me and what I should do to prevent such asininity in the future. :D Right now they're performing maintenance, so I need to wait a bit.
