Why do we need one?

Ryos
March 12th, 2002, 04:20
I don't need one. Heck, I don't even want one. Why Square chose to port THIS game, I don't know. It won't be anywhere near as good as the original (although the translation should be better :p).

Square's new subsidiary Game Designer Studios mentioned that they are working on a GameBoy Advance version of Final Fantasy Tactics, the game is scheduled for release in Japan around the Christmas time. Game Designer Studios intends to release 3 to 4 titles for the Nintendo platforms by the end of the 2002 (March 2003). They have also confirmed the development of a new Final Fantasy game title for both GameCube and GameBoy Advance, which allows data synchronization between the two machines.

I assume that the music would not be nearly as good as the PS. Nor would the graphics. Still it is pretty cool.

I would be more of the same...
The only difference is you would able to stick it into your pocket. If you have a large enough pocket to stick a GBA into and don't mind walking around with that big thing in it :p

Well, I think most of the music in FFT was sinthethized (not XA AUDIO or CD Audio) so, I may guess it is not a great loss, as the GBA can produce fairly high quality audio (ok, not as good as a PSX) but, I don't think overall is a great loss. but for the graphics?? we'll see...

Since the game was essentially the same as Tactics Ogre, which was made for SNES, I would say that an exact port would be possible. And yes, the music is synthesized, making it easy to port it as well.

Now, that is one game that I would for sure, 100% buy for GBA. I cannot think of a game that I would rather have for it. The game lasts forever, and can be played in short breaks. I REALLY want to see this game made. I always did think that FFT would have a better home on the Super Nintendo, and now with the GBA, this can finally be proven.

Stll i don't no why FFT !?!? i would chose Chrono Trigger or Xenogears !!

Kane
March 12th, 2002, 19:45
Chrono Trigger would work, and that was a good game.
I don't know about Xenogears without turning all the gears into sprites, and having a tile based view like ogre

Hmmmmm why is there a reply box unda da page?(Convenience?)
Well I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT SQUARESOFT would be able to port such a great game on the GBA..
Cuz I burned an ISO of it and it was 516 MB!
So ther'll probably be a HIGH LOSS in GRAPHICS and AUDIO.

Well, Duh! It is after all a small snes for all intents an purposes.

give Squaresoft a chance, they'll re-release all the game they can which are possible to have on GBA.
its all about the money, and they know those games will sell.

There is no reason FFT shouldn't look and sound great on GBA. Anyone whos played Golden Sun will know the GBA is capable of amazing things when a developer puts some time and effort in to it.

Golden Sun is a flawless masterpiece, FFT is TRASH !

thats one thing about FFT, is that it actually offers challenge! (if you don't level up too far ahead of the missions)

Esturk

Once you've played through FFT as much as I have, nothings hard anymore! Oh and why was it Nintendo did not make the GBA backlit anyway's?

Kane
March 14th, 2002, 01:19
Battery power. Pure and simple. That's why it last decades longer than the gear.

Exodus

i wonder how come sony hasn't tried making a handheld... but then again, it would be pretty hard to compete with GB. so... i guess we should be expecting MS to try? stupid MS...

Golden Sun is a flawless masterpiece, FFT is TRASH !
I would agree if Golden Sun was replaced with a game of greater value. FFT's story is better and the battle effects range from "as good as" to "much better".

I would like to see what they do with the fmv's. :P Will they become still art with text scrolling over them or maybe the scenes will be acted out like so much of it is in the battlefield settings?

Kane
March 15th, 2002, 03:51
What's in FMV in FFT apart from the intro? I can't remember anything.

Taisen
March 15th, 2002, 03:53
I remember part of the ending was in fmv.

Exodus
March 15th, 2002, 17:56
yeah, i believe theres a movie at the end, but i'm not totally sure. but FMVs aren't that important.

Ninjaa
March 19th, 2002, 08:31
Yeah, I'm lost too. For FMV in Final Fantasy Tactics, there were two clips at the beginning, and one at the end. I don't really see a need for them.

There was some tricky stuff going on in the game, such as 3D battlegrounds, and a bit of FMV, buit I think that most of the 516MB of space it is taking up on my hardrive is just bloatware. PSX developers were allowed to be really lazy, an didn't really bother with saving much space. In comparison, I have Tactics Ogre (PSX) sitting on my harddrive as well. It takes up a whopping 77MB. Not too bad, but since it was a SNES port to begin with, I would think that they might have added a little junk to it.

I really see no reason why the GBA couldn't run FFT perfectly. Of course the FMV would be mostly dropped, ala Silent Hill GBA, but I think that there would be room enough for everything else, and I don't think the 3D battlegrounds would be that much problem.

I actually bought a GBA as soon as I heard that Square was back. Since Tactics Ogre comes out next month, I am a happy man indeed.

Exodus
March 19th, 2002, 18:47
tactics isn't THAT much in the graphics department. some of the spell effects are a little flashy, but thats about it.
wasn't there an Ogre game on one of the GBs?

Bgnome
March 19th, 2002, 19:05
tactics ogre is out in japan atm

who said they had to be people?
You were replying to this question "Aren't that important to whom?" so the answer would have to be people.

What the hell you on Taisen?
I'll ask nicely for you to please delete your post or edit it. I will not harass you over this issue. This comment may work on warez kiddie / lamer boards or at high school but I think it would be unacceptable here as a part of good etiquette and maturity. We would like to keep our lofty opinions of you but such comments prevents us. My peers in life may think such comments are funny but I don't.

They did it well once and then rereleased it. There is no need for a port. It is being ported probably since Japan hasn't had it since the millennium collection.

You made a seemingly incoherent comment, and was asking you what you were talking about. Realize that different people talk in different manners.

If certain members intended on reading the question instead of shooting their mouth off then they would understand.

Realize that different people talk in different manners.
Please do not hide behind vernacular. It is a poor excuse for using that expression.
