Taking a look back at the game that started it all, back when Tony Hawk games were as awesome as they came.

Your voice/accent is perfect for reviews.

But yeah, I played THPS... I believe 2, on the PSX. I loved it.

Thanks a lot!, from the time I decided I wanted to make a shift from written to video reviews it took me over a year to produce my first review because I constantly didnt think my voice/accent was suitable, so hearing that is really a nice thing.

THPS2 is generally considered the best in the series.

YES!

I love these reviews emwearz, this one was just boss.

I remember first getting this for the 64 years ago, had an absolute fiendishly good time playing it. Mate of mine who was a great skater and I used to stay up all night perfecting every level.

After we did we turned on slow mo and moon physics for a laugh. Then we decided to turn off slow mo and firmly believed the game intentionally sped up the normal pace of the game to something ridiculous. Good times

Definitely Pro Skater 2 for me. The OST, the gameplay, its just so memorable and smooth, and challenging, doesn't feel bloated, you get the picture...

@Snicko, Cheers man, really appreciated! I had the demo for a long time on the PSX but a friend down the road got the 64 version so I originally learnt to play on that, did'nt matter which console the game was golden back in the day.

@Khameleon couldnt agree more, 2 was awesome, had those gameplay elements that added on one, before they went overboard.

Didn't the n64 have a lot less songs on it's soundtrack due to size limitations?

I loved the soundtrack of the PSX version... got me hooked on Rage Against The Machine for the longest time. (Lights out! guerilla radio... turn that **** up!)

I'm surprised the series died like it did. It was too bad as I think the series wasn't too good near the last releases, but it could have been revamped.

Yeah, and ridiculous compression to boot. Dreamcast version was pretty sweet, but the PC version rocked. Making stupid cutsom skate parks with gaps given silly and smutty names was a recipe for days massive hilarity.

Then discovering that having nothing but ramps upon ramps stacked on ramps with more ramps was not good design. But it looked cool so it didn't matter.

So much nostalgia. The soundtrack was so awesome and got you pumped everytime.

but the PC version rocked.

I forgot there was a PC version. I'm going to have to try to get it sometime.

Though for some reason I always get a odd feeling of sadness when I play old nostalgic games. (Even Halo 1 does that now - I'm getting old. :()

Cheers! Hopefully its been working in my other reviews and the many I have planned to come.

All this talk of THPS2 really makes me want to do a video of it, need to see if I can find a copy on the cheap.

It didn't die, EA got ahold of it and turned it into Skate or something like that...

Even I liked the Tony Hawk games but for me they were all about turning moon physics on and doing and finding all the crazy stuff. THPS3 was godly. I absolutely love the cruise ship level. Played just that level over and over and over again. And now that I'm talking about it I wanna do so again XD.
THPS4 wasn't anywhere near as fun as 3, it was all serious and gray, hillarity had mostly been removed and the secrets had greatly decreased.

The Tony Hawk series 'died' because it refused to evolve, what started as a game that was just fun became overtly campy, with cheesy stories with even cheesier dialog that they tacked on useless features as games got on that took away from the core gameplay itself, now they are doing **** with controllers no one cares about.

Skate is a evolution of skateboarding games and gives you much more control, dont slam it, its a really quality game, even after it was released the Tony Hawk series didn't change, because of this Skate is the new 'go to' game for a skating fix.

Does Skate have moon physics and crazy unlockable sequences? if not then it's not for me.
