Once got a gang of dragons (about 11 of them) and I was using my tietiary substandard group (no special players in it).
They Whupped my @ss Real Good.

there are a couple of weird battes in FFT. one is the one where its just a minotaur and a knight fighting. another is one where you fight a bunch of dragons and hydras and you get some on your team too.

I had that exact same battle once, on a real playstation though. Boy I wished I could've taken a screenshot (or a movie with PeOps) of my onslaught. I think I killed 3 of them... if I had my characters in their regular jobs I might've killed a bit more. It was crazy.
The ultimate chocobo battles in Barius Hill are almost as bad.. they show up more often too, but 10 monks is enough doom for me.

Scary. Got something like this one, and I only survived because I had a high-powered black mage with math skill. :)

Running into all monks is quite dangerous, unless you happen to have the math skill handy (as Badaro already said). Since those random battles are pretty random, that's one of those cases where you're almost better off reloading the game and trying another combination.

12 samurai levels 97- 99
some with Kikuichimoji

...or Cidolfas Orlandu at max level.:D
Wow, that's very fortunate of you. I've never faced that kind of party before, but it is dangerous. Another thing that would worries me is a group of that three headed dragons (Tiamat and others). Their attack are quite nasty too. I think you can find lots of weird kind of parties in the Deep Dungeon.

I killed 3, weakened 2 and got my @$$ really wooped by the remaining 5 :p
I think I'm very weak here... Ramza is a very good monk, but he was pratically fighting alone...

I think I'm very weak here... Ramza is a very good monk, but he was pratically fighting alone... Hmm. I bet a monk Ramza using accumulate and scream could take them all on and kill them, assuming you use the patented strategy of running like there's no tomorrow.
Esturk
March 9th, 2002, 06:19
That might work Ryos but they would probably get to you before you had a chance to use it a couple times! Another point is that most of them have Chakra, Revive, Earth Slash and Wave Fist. That makes them a real Biatch! Even when I was Level99 and mastered all Jobs they still worked me over!

The "Run for your Lives"© strategy don't work here as in 2 turns they get you (the stage is very small and no place to hide) ;)

FFT is definetly one of my favorite RPGs.
i remember the days when i used gameshark to get a team of all the zodiac monsters and another team with all the NPCs like Delita, Gafgarion and Zalbag. that took a lot of coding, especially to get their names changed to what they were supposed to be.

One of the things that I found interesting in FFT was Cloud Strife is really is in that game!:D Well, his limit breaks may take some times to execute, but it's still cool.
Exodus
March 9th, 2002, 23:22
one of his limit breaks is really good; the one that messes with the status of the enemy or did it turn them to stone, i don't remember anymore.
Ryos
March 9th, 2002, 23:37
All of his limit breaks are good. The problem is most of them take too bloody long to pull off.
Fou-lu
March 9th, 2002, 23:41
I guess you would have to use a time mage to make the "target" stand still for cloud be able to hit it ;)
Ryos
March 9th, 2002, 23:43
Ugh, but having to waste a slot in your group for someone with time spells? Not worth the effort. The only thing I liked about Cloud was his stats. He was literally more powerful than anyone else in the game in both physical and magical abilities, making him the best in any class you give him.

argh... its been too long since i played and i now remember no details... how was the charge time decided in FFT?

It's determined by the speed of the spells. If it has speed 50 then it will most likely be cast in 2 turns. Imagine a speed of 5 then...
Exodus
March 9th, 2002, 23:58
wasn't there an ability that halved charge time? or maybe an item?

I remember I had him using the last ability once. I killed every enemy that ability was supposed to hit and was just about to get going when the ability finally went off and killed everyone in the party. WTG, Cloud!

For me, Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the best strategy RPG. Believe it or not, I finished it twice just to get something new from the characters. Trying to get Ultima and Zodiac, trying to steal the Genji equipments and lots more. It's so fun to play it.

FFT is one of the best games I've ever played. Playing again right now.
The weird battles I've gotten are the ones mentioned here. 10-11 monks, knight and bull demon, dragons-behemoths-hydras vs. you a behemoth and a black chocobo. I've also gotten a small party of humans vs. you and a red dragon, and half a dozen calculators (not that hard).

There are more twists and turns than almost anything else, and it also has my favorite ending of any game, but that's because it's just like the rest of the game. It's a thinker's plot, that's for sure.

It's a happy ending, but only in the fact that they beat wossname, and the brother and sister survived. It's not like FF 8&9, etc where it's all good. I like those endings, but this seems a more, I dunno, mature way of ending it.

> the brother and sister survived
Welllll, I don't think you can safely say that. Based on the ending, I'd say it was more likely a hallucination. On the other hand, I very much doubt TG Cid would have died one way or the other. That guy was too powerful for his own good. ;)

T.G cid coudn't die unless they faked it. wich they did in the game. Now that was cool

***possible spoiler***... but its too late anyways... :)
what was his reason for killing her again? i forget most of the plot.

March 13th, 2002, 18:03
***SPOILER ALERT, TOO***
I don't like Delita. Even though his goal is good, but the way he achieved it is not 'heroic'. Furthermore, he killed Ovelia! I'm so mad about that. Sorry, I can't remember the reason. The only thing I remember is Delita brought her some flowers, then I forgot about the conversation, and then Delita stabbed her. Way to go man, you kill your queen, and you lost your friends. Satisfied? I even like Gafgarion than him.:emb:

EfrainMan and others who haven't beatten FFT. If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm heading into major spoiler territory (but then again, the thread's been there for two posts now).
fujita: That's the point. Delita is called the hero of the war, even though he's a traitor. Ramza is called a traitor, even though he's the hero of the war. It's all about being in the right place and the right time. Delita killed Ovelia because his anger could not be quenched until he got rid of everyone he felt was responsible for the plight of his family. Even though Ovelia was not directly responsible, she represented the last remnant of the corrupt power that Delita fought against for so long using any means necessary.

for some reason, i vaguely remember that he killed her to completely unite the continent, with him being the only ruler... then again, i've played many RPGs since then, so i'm probably confusing it with another game.
Kane

Trying to remember the plot of that game is a nightmare, but playing it was a dream.
Exodus
March 14th, 2002, 01:24
another neat thing about FFT is that it had a backup in case you did forget the plot. it'd be nice if some more games would let you re-watch some plot scenes.
Kane
March 14th, 2002, 01:51
Yeah, coz sometimes some **** will play a scene in a game and say "I got through where you were stuck on" AAAARRRGGGHH
Exodus
March 14th, 2002, 02:15

But it's a truly beautiful story..... That's what the movie should have been!
Exodus
March 15th, 2002, 01:18
yeah, it would have been awesome. it would have had romance, betrayl, wars, dragons, swords, LOTS of special effects and killing. it would have been great!
Kane
March 15th, 2002, 01:29
It would be good as a live action film rather than a CG one, to be honest. Futuristic scenes are more fitting for CG.
Exodus
March 15th, 2002, 01:54
yeah, basically becuase we can't do all that high tech stuff to easily. but swords we can handle! i doubt they'd do anything like that though after their recent bomb with FF:TSPW. i wonder how a book based on the FFT story would be... i'd read that.
Kane
March 15th, 2002, 01:55
It's be popular that's for sure. Many people reckon that FFT has the best story of any of the FFs.
2000 posts! Hoo hoo!
Exodus
March 15th, 2002, 01:58
well, i'm sure some die hard FF5 or 6 fans would disagree with that... but none of them are as complicated as FFT's story
btw, good job!
Kane
March 15th, 2002, 02:23
I think it's better myself, but that's me. The plot in the others is slightly less detailed for my taste.
Exodus
March 15th, 2002, 17:53
and they're definetly not as serious. i'm more into serious stories now, which is why i'm liking Vagrant Story's plot so far.
