Pokemon Platin menue failure

hi everyone

i just downloaded pokemon platin for the latest version of the DeSMuMe (i guess, have 0.9.4) and started playing it. after a while i got my first VM and wondered how the hell i can open my inventory. i put start on "D" but it didnt work.

any solutions?
suggestions?

0.9.4 is ancient.

platinum doesn't use the start button to open the menu by default.

you would know this if you owned the game.
