setting adjustment?

I am running desmune on new super mario bros and notice the drop in speed compare to no$gba 2.6.

pentium 4 HT 3 GHz
2gb ram
windows xp

any games I run with no$gba can out perform desmune even though I keep hearing opposite answers

is it a settings thing that I screwed up?

Desmume needs more PC power than NO$GBA. :(
It needs at least a 2,5 GHz Dual Core processor to get some games to work at full speed.

Are you using the latest SVN build or version 0.9.5 of DeSmuME?

DS emulation requires a lot of CPU power and DeSmuME is hungriest for CPU power out of all the emus. Your system is just too weak and no toggling will fix that.
Conversely just by the way no$gba requires the least out of all the DS emus.
