View Full Version : A question about plugins and texture quality :)

Hi!!

So, I have no particular problem with emulating or anything, but I'm looking to try and emulate the games, first: the most accuratly possible and second: the nicest they can get.

I'm currently using ePSXe with P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver plugin for video, because right now is the one that emulates most acurately the games I play. Specially 2D textures, where other plugins (namely Pete's OpenGL and D3D ones) fail to do so. An example would be Castlevania: SotN, where with the software plugin it looks pretty much like playing the real thing, while using the others I get all these little texture glitches and wrong colours n stuff.

Now the problem is that with the Soft Driver plugin, 3D textures and models have a horribly low resolution and I can't seem to alter this, while with the other plugins I seem to be able to do so. To use again Castlevania as an example, here the Save Points and the Sword Familiar look very stuffy and crumply.

So the question would be: is there any way of using P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver plugin or any other software plugin and be able to increase the resolution of 3D models and textures? Or is this the price of accurate video emulating?

Anyways, I hope I was clear enough and that some1 can help me :)

Thanks!

If your GPU can handle it, you can get very nice results with Pete's OGL2 + Shaders.

Use pete's opengl2 plugin, and disable texture filtering. For 2D games, it would look nicest, while providing you with the other improvements to expect over peopssoft.
