Whenever I log onto Windows, I get this pop-up message:

It also appears occasionally while Windows is running and such. I always click "No". Is this spyware or what and how do I get rid of it?

Deleting System32 should do the trick.
On a more serious note, have you tried deleting your cookies, or the cookie that relates to that page?
(Seen a few of those errors pop up myself when using IE *shivers*)

That's why you dont use IE.

I don't. Exclusively running FF. Tried the usual remedies like clearing cache, cookies etc but to no avail.

Hmm.....another little detail is that when I log onto Windows, it appears as if a window (white in color I think) opens but then closes within a fraction of a second. A few seconds later I get this error message.
How do I know which app is doing this?

Take a look at msconfig.
Or if nothing shows, regedit.

Change background to a solid color first (related to activedesktop, if a page is loaded at startup).
Are you using Flashget and set to autostart with windows, by the way ?

Yup. I'm using FlashGet on auto-start. I'm gonna remove it, DAP was much better anyway.

Try running Hijackthis http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/ and scan the log at HijackThis Logfileauswertung (http://hijackthis.de/)
