Kaizen - Do you have any exercise for finger independence?
The best one I can think of that helped me personally was practising the 5 string major and minor sweeps in the d shape of the caged system.
http://guitar-licks-n-tricks.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Sweeps12.jpg
These will be tough as hell at first, that's normal. The best way to approach them is to hit these two incredibly slowly on a speed trainer (in guitar pro or tux guitar), it's like a metronome loop that increases in speed by 1% each time the passage repeats. 1% speedtrainers are definitely the best way of improving your ability, nothing else comes close to getting better in a faster timeframe.
There's specific independance exercises but they're equal to this sweeping shape in terms of gaining ability but the sweeps can be used to go into autopilot far easier than even the best linear picking exercise.
After 2 months of speed training (10 minutes a day), hit up andy james metal arpeggios dvd.

if only making money was that easy.
Isn't it? You buy undervalued things with the money gained from selling overvalued things and repeat. I was doing that **** when I was 7yo and playing suikoden :p
I get what you're saying man, I work a conventional job. Minimum wage, high hours, lots of stress and labour. Barely enough to survive in the wages.
Making money though is easy, it just takes money to make money and if you wanna be rich then perhaps you'll find a path to take from my following ramblings
If you've ever watched deal or no deal, think of what the bankers role is.
I got around to this train of thought due to my intense poker skillz 360 xxx rated and how the randomness of the boxes induces variance, variance is a poker/gambling concept that accounts for the random chance of an outcome. Variance is the real world results against the expected results. With statistical perfection, when random chance is introduced even at a 2 outcome 50/50 ratio probability like flipping a coin it's still possible to within a limit of real life for you to be unlucky 100 times in a row. This is negative variance, over a million coin tosses, variance will be equal to a perfect level with expected outcome.
Essentially the banker errs on the side of profit. He can be lucky or unlucky for extended periods but he profits absolutely with games played.
The banker sells a safety net to the player, lower than the average return from the box list. The player takes his offer only because they do not want to shoulder the risk the banker doesn't mind. That's why the players are usually poor in the outside world and why he's rich.
In poker, we have a concept called a bankroll. The bankroll is money savings (the money it takes to make money) and the amount of money in the bankroll is there to account for the negative variance possibility.
It's super unlikely for you to bum out 20 all ins in a row when you make a choice where you have the margin of profit chance. Bankrolls usually are 20 games cost because of this. Let's apply this **** to business, time to dig out the buzness school ruffneck bass off da rails skillz
The best way to make money is to sell security and peace of mind to others.
Trying to compete on price if you are selling a product is a bad business model. Jack up the price and jack up how you convey protection to the consumer. Like if you have a business fixing idiots computers you could give them a cheap price but take payment by the single time use and per the hour. IF you're doing this, the customer wont pay an unreasonable amount of money. You'll get like $20 callout and $10 an hour.
If you do this business and save up a variance bankroll where the variance is your own wages, like 3 months wages saved up. You can now apply risk into your business by charging a customer $100 to fix their pc (3x initial cost) but by offering them a 60 day no fee recallout if they are stupid again. As long as the recallout rate is < 1 in 3 customers then you make more profit. Some months will have > 1 in 3 and you bankroll buffer comes into play with the customer variance.
To make the maneys. Find a way you can get the maneys from people not working for others stealin yo cuts, then sell them insurance. Selling items? Offer refunds and insurance. Investments? Manage a bank roll and leverage risk, be your own insurance.
Do you work a normal job? Find a side outlet and take the risk that scares others.
Buy broken things and repair them, buy run down property and repair it, buy cars with expired tax+mot (within assayers reason) then fix and sell with premium. You get the idea.
A real job should never be more than seed money.

The best way to make a few quick bucks can be summed up in a sentence. Buy stuff cheap, sell it high. Real easy to do if you put a little thought into it.
Cars for example - it's amazing how cheap those things will go for with minor problems.... A extreme example would be a sunfire I picked up for $400. Only thing wrong with it was fouled spark plugs, and it needed new front brakes and tires. Owner thought it had serious problems.
Spark Plugs - $3 each, 4 cylinder. $12
Brakes - $20 for the pads, $50 for the rotors. $70
Used tires: $20 a piece, $80 total. $15 to get them mounted. $95
Total: $177 in parts, $400 for the car, $577 total. An hour or so of labor, which since I do things myself - free.
Sold the car for $2300. Over $1700 in pure profit.
If you know a bit about body work on cars (A topic I admittedly know little about), that opens a whole new door of profit possibility.
Even computers are easy to make money off of if you look in the right places.
"Broken" Laptop: $25
Hard Drive: $40
$65
Sell it for $125, $60 in profit. Enough flex room that if you can't get the $125 you want out of it, you can still make a profit.
Just like cars, I see computers with minor problems sold in Craigslist for far less than their actual value. Some of them go for like $10... Hell, I've seen some older (2005ish) computers on craigslist's "free" section. You could part them out and still make a profit. The Pentium 4 and that 40gig IDE drive still has some value on eBay, ya'know?

..
Indeed, I'd go hard into cars instead as the absolute profit is higher per unit turnover time except I believe there's some laws limiting how many cars you can buy and sell each year.
Silver is in a suppression, I did scaling from the last breakout from suppression. When it breaks out this time, it will hit $100 per ounce.
iirc I have talked about this stuff before back when silver was like $20 and ounce (? maybe less). I sold off my silver at $45 per ounce with over 150 troy ounces inventory.
Right now is a good time to buy, availability is high on ebay again and prices are lowering. Even if it doesn't break free for 5 years, you're talking about an investment that can go 300% comfortably.
Good yield to add to your portfolio.

You can buy as many as you want. In Ohio you can only sell 7 a year.
Fortunately, I have a few really trustworthy friends who let me put cars in their names, so technically I'm not selling them, my friends are. If I have three friends I do that with, I can sell 28 cars a year (including the 7 for myself).. which is far more than I do.
I slip them a $50 for their help, and everyone's happy. Entirely legal? Not really. But meh.
I do plan to get a car dealer license someday, so I can go up to the state car auctions and pick cars up real cheap regularly. (Drug-bust cars, bank repo cars, etc)

"A fresh take on Racism.
Dear white friend, here are a few things you should know:
When I'm born, I'm black.
When I grow up, I'm black.
When I walk in the sun, I'm black.
When I'm cold, I'm black.
When I'm sick, I'm black.
When I die, I'm still black.
And you: When you're born, you're pink!
When you mature, you're white!
When you walk in the sun, you're red!
When you're cold, you're blue!
When you're sick, you're green!
And when you die, you're grey!
And yet you still have the nerve to call me 'colored'?"
This bit both made me laugh and think - don't be racist, or at least try not to be one...it's a painful waste of intellect, time and health!

Don't bother with the beta, it's just the same stuff but you don't get to keep any of your hard earned items or stats.

It was still fun though ^^
The highlight for me was a match where I had a heavy pocket who used the gloves of running urgently.
We capped the two control points within a minute right away using an uber from spawn to point one where the heavy killed like 10 guys and the buildings
and on the way to the second we both attacked offensively. Felt pretty swag since the previous match the other team humiliated us.

How bad was it?
Fairly deep cut. Enough to justify covering it up. (I usually just leave my wounds uncovered. They like a little dirt and oil!)
And I was referring to Band Aids (http://lookatmyhappyrainbow.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Band-Aid.jpg) not bandages in general.
Use gear oil instead of Vaseline :p
Gear oil is a tad too thick for that. I just use good old 5W30... more pleasant for all parties involved. Change it every 3,000 thrusts and it's all good.
Or just cauterize it with an arc welder.

And I was referring to Band Aids (http://lookatmyhappyrainbow.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Band-Aid.jpg) not bandages in general. Ah, well when many people say "Band Aids", they often mean bandages in general, because it seemed to make little sense to me to say that just of one brand but not of the same thing under another name/brand, although I get what you were getting at by toughing it or whatever with doing it yourself.

Puzzle games are generally very low key stuff and thus will run on something so weak that they won't do your laptop any justice.

Well seeing as she mentioned her new laptop it seemed to indicate that now that she had something stronger she wanted stuff with more eyecandy than she's used to. Kind of like someone wouldn't ask for SD content to watch on their new HDTV.

Well the best way to go would be Adventure games that include puzzle solving. So Tales of Monkey Island and Puzzle Agent 1 and 2 or basically anything from Telltale games.
And then much much more low tech in the barely better than a flash game category would be 4 Elements 1 and 2 which I suppose isn't really a puzzle game and more of a speed thing but it still requires thinking. Ignore the cheese and windowdressing, once you start clearing those higher mazes it becomes much more entertaining and solid...well at least if you like the sort of game it delivers then.
Oh also to my understanding Portal 1 and 2 are kind of puzzle games, realtime 3D puzzle games but still at their core basically puzzle games (and these will do your system justice).
Also if you're into RPGs then there's always Puzzle Quest which fuses a traditional RPG with a Match3 game into a really satisfying mix. (and if you like that you might like the other games Infinite Interactive made).
And the rest of the stuff I know about is either just other point and click adventures or more low key flash level stuff like 4 Elements.

Well seeing as she mentioned her new laptop it seemed to indicate that now that she had something stronger she wanted stuff with more eyecandy than she's used to.She did mention that it was a new laptop, but she didn't actually mention that was she was after that sort of thing. The only criteria she mentioned was that she was looking for puzzle games.Oh also to my understanding Portal 1 and 2 are kind of puzzle games, realtime 3D puzzle games but still at their core basically puzzle games (and these will do your system justice). The first Portal ran on a Pentium 4 2.8GHz, 2GB RAM, and a GeForce 6800 GS AGP just fine. Granted, this was like 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024 (not sure which), but it was still just about maximum visual settings with even some AA and it ran rather well, so that one at least won't do anything that can run Crysis 2 with 3D any justice.
That being said, both games are very well. I know there's a demo of the first (and maybe the second) and it should give you enough of a feel and idea of the type of game it is, and the second is just a much expanded game of the first. They aren't FPS games, but they use a similar "format" and perspective, so if you like Crysis 2/FPS games and are asking about puzzle games, then yeah, Portal and Portal 2 are right up your alley.
Speaking of Crysis 2, try the first. I'm not sure if it's 3D (and don't really care), but it's a much better game all around, visuals, gameplay, basically everything.

I've always just sprayed out my laptops with the air compressor once in awhile and never had any problems with overheating, which is surprising considering how often I use my laptop on cloth surfaces. (bed, pants, car seat, couch, etc..). More surprising when you consider the fact that I'm a smoker and the smoke residue makes dust stick to computer parts a bit more.

If it's not higher end hardware and/or you're just using it for more basic stuff, that's not abnormal at all for anything remotely recent. The laptop I'm on now has been with heavy smokers for like three or so years and probably never dusted out, yet it's very quiet (all you hear is the HDD seek at times or the fan if you stick your ear to the rear vent) and it's also very cool. I'm not stressing it though by just browsing the web, which is about all it's used for, so that could change if I did. I don't know. It's not very high-end hardware either though.

I do that too, but the main reason why I got to take stuff apart is because of sea spray. Although I'm several kilometres from the ocean (something like 22 football fields) I live up a hill, the wind carries the salt spray and over time can cause issues.
Plus the cooling in this thing has always been crud and I wanted to see why. That interest waned pretty quickly though.

Oldies but goldies, we have WAtomic (http://watomic.sourceforge.net/), a Windows-clone of Atomix, without the nasty time limit and with all levels playable from the start.
Also, could you narrow it down? Puzzle games are a wide field, from Match-3 games (Bejeweled) and physics based mind bogglers (Crayon Physics, The Incredible Machine) to an emerging 3D-puzzle genre (Portal, Q.U.B.E.).
Armor Games (www.armorgames.com) has many good Flash-based puzzlers.

Nope. I'm gonna get a cheap little 7 or so inch Android tablet because there are a few things I enjoy having android around for and drop down to a dumbphone. Every $50 dumbphone I've ever had could survive a 6" drop. A $500 phone ends up with a busted screen.
It's kind of ironic that phones designed to be used far more often (and therefore presenting more opportunities for them to break) than a regular old dumb phone also break much easier.

Went in looked at a house today. $8k. Obviously at that price in needs a lot of work, but I took my Uncle with me (who owns a construction company and is far more knowledgeable in that department than I am) and he did a quick look over and found nothing structurally wrong with the house, which is the important thing.
Needs new electric (mid 1900s looking 60 amp breaker box, and aluminum wiring... sounds perfectly safe!)
New plumbing (including sinks and toilets and the like)
New furnace
A few grand in that. After that, a lot of cosmetic work (drywall, flooring, windows, paint, blah blah blah)... a few grand in that too.
The way I look at it, it'd be a fun project for my spare time. Maybe I could make some decent money on it, worse case I could probably at least break even.

You mean the radar guns they use to measure speed? They seem to be common enough to where I'd be surprised if they were. Checking Google, it apparently varies from area to area, so on the whole, no, they aren't illegal. You can even own them for private use (but might need licenses or whatever; I'm not sure as that itself probably depends and varies), but you can't go and enforce the law with one. They are very common in this area.

You were pretty lucky. I was extremely lucky once, I was doing around 100 MPH in a 55 (rural highway), but I don't think I saw any cops for 40 miles or so. It wasn't a particularly quick run up to that speed either; with only 110 HP in my car (minus a fair amount for the automatic), it needs a lot of room to stretch its legs :p.
There were a couple of other times of extended speeding, 90-100 in a 70, and 80-108 in a 75 through a good chunk of Arizona (western border with California to Phoenix). Averaged 88 MPH on that leg of the trip. Passed several patrol cars going in the other direction but they didn't seem to care.
I also heard that using a handheld laser thingie to measure speed is illegal (even for cops - or at least inadmissible as evidence) in the US, is this true?
Nope, it's legal. It's known as lidar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LIDAR_speed_gun). It's more effective than regular radar; by the time your detector picks it up, you're usually screwed.

Also, expecting it would only cost 262.000$ to pull, like in the days of old when you could literally buy countries with as little as just a dinner course, a pound of peanuts and 2 trips to the nearest golf court.

I was joking around by saying that I must have shrunk because I always insisted I was 6' or 6'1" tall and just as tall or taller than my younger brother, turns out I am only 5'11" tall.

You could also try working out, and walking/running two hours a day. Just start for 10 minute increments.
At this stage exercise is more important to you. You have to get your body burning calories. If you just eat less, your metabolism will slow down (with the green tea off setting that a bit), so try to be active trough the day.

The laws of conservation of energy are absolute. There's no genuine excuse to be found in metabolism as a concept.
A fact; the more body tissue you have, the more energy required to keep it alive.
If your energy consumption decreases because you are eating less then it's because you've lost weight.
"Starvation mode" etc is broscience made up by people talking out their rectum. It's crap, made up.
Metabolism is dictated by your body tissue weight and the energy required by tissue groups to be sustained.
After this, you factor in extra energy requirements like exercise or being in cold areas etc.
Here is a fact, to be 424 pounds at 5 foot 11, you must average at least 5748 calories of food consumption at a minimum.
Here's another fact of physics, if you eat less than 5748 calories of food on average over a period of time, you will lose body mass until the new equilibrium of body tissue weight to calorie sustenance is found,
http://i.imgur.com/dcIMf.png
2,100 calories of food is still a lot of food. It's 1 decent breakfast, 2 small snacks, a reasonable size dinner, a small supper and as much diet soda as you want.
2,100 is the magic number.
You'll see the chart have an "unhealthy weight loss" section, this is where the proportion of muscle and bone/organ tissue peaks up. Anything in the healthy range is perfectly healthy for you to lose.
Therefore the most efficient way of losing the weight is to eat 2,100 calories at a sedentary normal expiration rate and if you do heavy exercise, discount it exactly from the daily intake.
For example, If you run 6 miles, 660 calories should be taken off your physics equation since you weigh 424, then it's around 1,000 calories to run 6 miles.
Do you see that? Running that much barely puts a dent in your energy equation. Excercise for weight loss when you're that high in weight is genuinely a waste of effort in percentage terms.
Let me clue up the reality. By eating 2,100 a day, you are at a deficit of 3,648 calories.
Is it worth extreme exercise to get another thousand calories when you can get 3,600 sitting on your ass?
It's bloody not, it will discourage and demotivate you, put you in danger and be a damn big waste of effort to get an extra 1/4 deficit.
Don't exercise, just try and be more active in things you actually want to do like shopping, going to town etc.
There's no room for broscience here. Weight loss is an almost exact science.

Keto is dangerous over prolonged periods. The amount of weight due to be lost would make keto last so long that liver issues would be extremely likely.
Cycling 5 days of a protein sparing modified fast every month would be a better option. It's like a stricter version of keto that ups ketone levels hard and fast. Remember to buy ketostix.

Yeah, my dietician suggested starting off only walking ten minutes a day. So I've been trying to get out when I can especially since it's now nice weather over here.
Also, thank you Kaizen, that helps and is accurate. My dietician said my max calorie intake per day should not exceed 2100 calories.

It will. Don't make me slap you, I follow Sean Connery on the stance.
You directly contradict the most fundamental law of physics with your broscience.
Energy can neither be created nor destroyed.
Eating less reduces energy freely available to the body, so you are saying a person with insufficient energy intake will magically use energy from nowhere instead of digesting fat and other tissues for glucose conversion.
That someone not eating enough food to supply their body with energy will not lose weight but still somehow not die when there's no energy to keep their heart beating, the brain active and the body heated.
Recurrent exercise for someone at 424 pounds is a bad idea. The biggest loser usa is not a safe method of weight loss.
Strained tendons and ligaments, bone damage, fluid retention, heart attacks are injuries that have a good chance of happening.
Then there's supplemental injuries like shin splints, mild pluracy, exercise induced asthma, increased muscular cramps, sprained ankles and things.

Not to sound morbid but right now you will almost definitely have furred arteries. It takes a long time for these to clear a significant amount.
Heart attacks in most cases are a result of blood building up in a narrow space created in a furred artery like two people trying to walk through a door at the same time.
Long exercise periods can increase the likeliness of an attack happening but the actual danger lies in your heart rate.
Get a cheap heart rate monitor from ebay and try not to let your heart rate go above 160-165 bpm for the first month or two of this lifestyle change.
2,100 calories might still be a lot of food but since you're used to nearly three times the food then you're stomach will take a while to adjust its size down.
You're going to feel hungry, very hungry. I shouldn't be talking about this stuff but the way to deal with hunger is in your head, you have to come up with ways that will work for you to forget thinking about food.
It's all subjective. I found that having non premium foods helped a lot with hunger. No cakes/sweets etc but plenty of oats and fruit because they taste 1,000x worse than the stuff I want to eat that I would rather not eat than eat fruit/oats/soup.
That worked at first but then more extreme and dangerous methods were the only ones that worked, you'll adjust to tolerate things and will eventually like the new foods prescribed
When you get heavily into the weight loss and are nearing the end, try not to get lost in the numbers. It's addictive and too easy to go too far.
Just one more stone to "ideal weight" soon becomes 4 to hit the 18.5bmi underweight and that easily becomes an aim for 17.5 to classify and 17.5 becomes 16 to be the same as your friends and the next thing you know you're very ill.

wut? they're the same thing?
anyways isn't a drop down to 74kgs just a bit drastic? surely he should head for some sort of middle ground first since he invariably has a lot of extra muscle to lug around that weight which would affect his weight as well, say more like 100kgs for starters.

Exercise for someone at 424 pounds is a REALLY bad idea, you're bs is dangerous. What do you think will happen to the legs of someone 200 lbs overweight with strenuous activity?
Strained tendons and ligaments, bone damage, fluid retention.
If he takes it seriously then bow legs and knock knees not to mention shin splints and pinched nerves.
What do you think the outcome will be for someone with heavily furred arteries around the heart if they decide to go to 75% max heart rate repeatedly and frequently?
For note, 75% would easily achieved with a prolonged uphill walk in this context.
(the answer is a heart attack btw and don't think it cant happen because he's young)
True to an extent, I remember when I was less heavy than I am now I tried running down the road to catch up with my sister and mother and my legs gave out. I went tumbling and got scuffed up needless to say. But walking moderately at a slower pace, doing some stretches, a bit of light jogging should be fine.

Some exercise is good so as to keep the body from further atrophy. You know, you gotta keep the blood flowing and stuff. Like the usual 15-30 min daily exercise to keep some activity.

For sure but there are exceptions. Every time Ken stands up and sits down, he's squatting 110 kgs above his lean body weight. That's over 2 plate just to stand up.
I define exercise as raising your heart rate to a point where it falls in cardiovascular stress, when the lungs are pushed to supply above normal oxygen levels.
Since I define exercise as relative, then you can say walking for ken is exercise. Taking a guess that a slight uphill walk for him would take his heart rate to 160 or so after a few minutes is a decent guess.
He's walking uphill dragging an extra person in weight with him and his heart is not conditioned and prepared for cardio either.
When I run at 7.5 miles per hour. After 30 minutes my heart rate is 165 bpm (I log every hr recording in my journal). This might seem more like exercise in the way most people think of it because I'm doing a 30 minute run at a fair speed but I am putting my body under a significantly less amount of distress since my lungs are well conditioned for running and my heart can very quickly go back under 100bpm. You have to consider it in relation to the specific person.
Of course, as time goes on the 'exercise' should be adjusted to stay relative to what can be done.
If by recommending exercise you mean taking up leisurely walks then yeah, I agree but if you mean lifting weights or using a treadmill/exercise bike then I say the amount of stress that will place is far to great at this point and destructive.

Um...that was no reason to be rude. And yes, your statement is partly erroneous. If you refuse to excercise, simply dieting will not make you healthier, despite losing wieght. Walking will build your resistance, and speed up the wieght loss process. You will do yourself no favors by refusing to excercise, no matter what "data" you put forth.
When your body strains itself (such as wieght lifting), your exertion releases chemicals that help your body build resistance, muscle. And muscle burns more calories then fat.
Excersing will only help you, Xtreme2damax.

Soo.. I went to a nutritionist/dietician on Tuesday. Turns out I've gained a lot of weight in the last few years especially since moving out of my parents place. According to the scale I am 424 lbs. I was joking around by saying that I must have shrunk because I always insisted I was 6' or 6'1" tall and just as tall or taller than my younger brother, turns out I am only 5'11" tall.
Looks like it's strict portion control with a diet of baked fish, baked chicken (without skin), veggies, fruit, brown rice, wheat bread, sugar free juice, crystal light green tea, sugar free regular tea or iced tea, greek yogurt, turkey burger, special k or shredded wheat cereal for me from now on.
my suggestions (from experience and reading):
1) do some weightlifting to build muscle (or at least retain the muscle you already have while you're losing weight).
2) eat high protein, low-calorie diet (its hard to do this w/o protein shake supplements, which is why i recommend you buy some protein powder and replace some of your snacks/meals with them); also get some multi-vitamin and fish-oil supplements too.
all the bread you eat should be whole wheat and high in fiber. i think you should skip the sugar-free juice (too easy to add calories drinking softdrinks/juices). you should drink plenty of water. and don't eat too much in one sitting. eventually your stomach will shrink and you won't get as hungry.
3) take pictures of yourself every week for comparison. (this one is really helpful; there have been many times in my diet/training where i start thinking its not doing anything and i feel like giving up... but then i go back to older pictures when i first started training, and its a huge transformation... it just takes months to notice real changes)
4) be consistent, and don't give up. i have a feeling you're going to give up like so many people do, but prove me wrong :p
as previously mentioned it takes a while to see results. and since you're so heavy its really going to take you years to transform your body. there's no shortcut to it, you just got to be consistent and not give up for years of training/dieting. (step 3 comes in handy to stay motivated, since you end up never wanting to look like your 'before' pictures again once you start getting in shape)
It doesn't matter how heavy you are, working out will benefit you in losing weight.

My current temporary living situation isn't ideal, but even though it's not fully in the country, it sort of is, and it's so dark and peaceful. It just feels so less superficial than a city and even the suburbs. This is how I'd like to live (or rather, where). At night, even though the sky isn't as good as it is in a proper rural area, with minimal street and traffic and home lights, it's so beautiful, and the moon has just been superb these past few nights. well working out can help you gain or lose weight, depending on your diet. he might gain some weight in the beginning (due to increased muscle-mass) and then start losing weight after a while (which would hopefully be mostly fat if he eats high protein while still training).
but my point was that currently he's got so much fat on his body that it'll take a long time to get rid of most it to the point where you can notice a real transformation.
most people probably won't notice much of a difference between someone weighing 420lbs, and them weighing 370lbs. yet that's still losing 50lbs through hard work.
he's going to need to really be consistent and not give-up to get in shape.

It's pretty bad, but I don't really "know" any highways other than I70, I77, and SR7. The farthest distance I can make it from home without a GPS is my old area, which is simple because you just hop on 77, then merge into 70 and then the Bridgeport exit puts you right by SR7. All the "major" (term used loosely) towns in that area are off 7, and if you stay on 70 a little longer you get to all the major West Virgina towns in that general area.

hmm just watched that one.
its a bit disappointing that they're showing that around 25% of the population have bad genetics that won't respond to exercise.
i always knew genetics have a big role in it; and i hate when ignorant people with good genetics say otherwise. however its sad to see the science to back it up.
i think personally i don't have great genetics for exercise. however i've been working out and following the advice i gave xtreme for 1.5 years now and I have transformed my body (just at a less impressive rate than people with better genetics would've done).
i'll never be a pro bodybuilder or olympic athlete, but i can at least look fit and athletic with proper training/dieting.
i think that video was mostly focusing on fat burning effects of exercise, and didn't really look at muscle-building aspect of weight lifting.
perhaps people that don't respond well to exercise with respect to fat-burning, can still diet to reduce fat; and just weight-lift to build muscle (or prevent losing it).
anyways, will probably watch the other video and the one kaizen posted soon...

First decade of my life, I grew up in a large Asian harbor city. I lived on the 8F of a 18F high-rise.
I spent the next decade in a small University town in US. Quite a remote place it is, and I lived in a single house.
I now live in the middle of farms and pastures in Europe. The house is also a single house.
Out of these three, I must say that I enjoy the living environment of the later too the most, but nothing can beat the convenience of a big city. The amount of seafood I had near a harbor was also unbeatable; I was so spoiled by the seafood that I couldn't eat any frozen seafood when I moved.
Nonetheless, I will still prefer to live in a remote, quiet environment; a place that is out of pollution, out of crowd, and with a neighborhood that you know. The only chance to know my neighborhood in a large city was in the elevator.

Oh yeah, this documentary will slap your **** for 6 parts. /fit/ approved video. John approved video. Pro anorexia approved video. This is the real stuff. Interesting to watch.
sSm1dWjMGeM
finished watching that video. good stuff.
i was surprised to find out that the skinny girl didn't have a higher metabolism than the fat girl; and was really just eating less.
i do think however people have different bodytypes, and some people naturally are leaner or fatter.
and its not accurate to do just one test of a skinny girl and a fat girl, and make such strong conclusions. i also feel they should've done the test with men instead of women (skinny women often lie about the food they eat, and almost always say they eat a lot when they're eating little).
the most interesting thing about that video imo was it said high dairy diet will help you crap-out twice as much fat, due to the calcium. the calcium makes it harder for your body to absorb the fat, and you end up crapping out more.
this tells me i should start taking calcium supplements, which currently I haven't been doing.
(i assume there's no point in actually taking dairy if they said the results were due to the calcium)
they also mentioned that high protein meals are more satisfying for hunger. i guess that further supports my recommendation for high-protein low-calorie diets.
in addition to that, they mentioned that food mixed with water (such as soup), is more filling than eating solid food while drinking water. i think this supports that people should drink protein shakes, as that is essentially a protein soup.

That's kind of where I live, it's out enough to not really be classified as a suburb, and close enough where it's not a journey to get to the store. I like it.
Indeed, that's the way to do it. Though I do live in a suburb (a slightly more natural one than the typical american neat little rows of house though).

This is why I like a place that's remote in feel and enough away, but not literally in the middle of a region with no sizable suburbs/cities nearby. I've lived in suburbs the majority of my life, and I prefer it to cities, but I prefer more remote places even. I don't want to fully be out in the middle of nowhere, but most typical suburbs are more than I want.Oh, we're coming for you now.

It's pretty bad, but I don't really "know" any highways other than I70, I77, and SR7. The farthest distance I can make it from home without a GPS is my old area, which is simple because you just hop on 77, then merge into 70 and then the Bridgeport exit puts you right by SR7. All the "major" (term used loosely) towns in that area are off 7, and if you stay on 70 a little longer you get to all the major West Virgina towns in that general area.I know a fair deal of Northeastern Ohio (at least/especially the Lake County area) by heart. I've lived here my whole life, and I plan to keep it that way. I'm not saying if you drop me on any road in this fourth of the state that I'll know exactly where each road is/goes, but I'll be able to manage.
Also, I'm not in that circle anymore, at least. I might have been before, but I'm not positive. I was at least somewhere in that screenshot.Ion cannon activated:

watched this video, pretty interesting.
it shows the whole "calorie in, calorie out" thing is not all there is to it, and that genetics plays a huge factor.
people's bodies have a natural weight that they want to be at, and the body can adjust itself to burn more/less calories to match that target-weight.
some skinny people can eat a ridiculous amount (and not do any exercise), and never become obese due to their genetics.
some naturally skinny people end up gaining weight when they eat a lot, but they gain more muscle than fat, which in-turn increases their base metabolic rate, and helps them burn more calories.
other naturally skinny people's bodies cause them to unconsciously do more movements/fidgeting, which ends up burning more calories to try to meet their bodies' natural-weight.
also most naturally skinny people just have no desire to eat after being full, so they just naturally don't like to eat a lot.
it also mentioned that once your fat cells get bloated enough, the body ends up creating more fat cells.
and apparently you can never naturally lose fat cells (just make them smaller).
so if you've ever been fat at one point in your life (i.e. at some point in your childhood), you have more fat cells than someone that has always been thin. and thus you have a much easier time staying fat (or gaining fat if you lose the weight).

Also, it has little to do with not having the proper machinery. It obviously has to do with money. Our country has become greedy. I believe the living costs today for many things (homes, vehicles, health, food, etc.) is much more expensive versus twenty or fifty years ago, and they were able to afford it back then when it made here. Yet, the argument is always "if it was made here, we wouldn't be able to afford it". Well sheez, I wonder why!? Our practical/average economical power has shrunk because more of it is sitting on one end. This (stuff having to be made where it can be made/payed to be made cheaper) is just the beginning. What are the idiots in D.C. going to do when there's not enough of us to pay taxes and fund this country? Then what? With most of the money at one end, you'd think that end was taxed more, but they actually did the opposite and give the rich and the corporations tax breaks!

There's many systems of slavery that have been implemented along human history, my law professor for ethics took delight in teaching our class the various designs of entrapment. Not all slavery was barbaric. There were legal slavery systems refined through the ages.
One of my favourites is something called indentured servitude.
You see, the master provides a required service for a man on the basis he will owe him a certain timespan of labour. Like if a man needs money for his wife for hospital treatment, he could beg to a known slavebroker for the money in return for years of his service.
There's a second fun type of slavery called wage slavery. The oligarchs and land masters would make effort to keep their peons and pedants uneducated and unable to read or write. Then those sneaky guys would calculate the individuals bills for each period and deliberately pay them slightly less than they need to survive.
The idea is that by paying less than they need, the 'worker' appeals to the boss for an advance of the difference. Upon which, the slave boss would use psychology to blame the worker and make them feel small, they would blame their stupidity for not being able to manage their money. Then a contract is drawn where the boss would handle the individuals bills and affairs where the owner no longer pays the wage but directly handles the bills in a way to steal interest and eventually after years of service, the property itself.
These two systems of technical slavery still exist today. They don't even hide it.
Loans, credit cards, mortgages - indentured.
Minimum wage levels, companies using outlier excuses to pressure workers - wage slavery.
Again, the key to escaping this **** is property. You get the property then you get the money, then the power and the *****es.
The actual value of money against the index of real goods in every case shows that people now are paid less than they were in the 50's.
The minimum wage laws help no-one but the economic uneducated to believe they are being treated fairly.
There's a reason that schools don't have classes in managing your personal finances but do have classes in hairdressing, cooking, machine floor cnc operation and other menial job skills.

The two are linked. Yes you're right but as a result of that it doesn't make sense to maintain any machinery of that sort here so there isn't any and so they simple wouldn't have the capacity to suddenly produce everything locally again, at least not for quite a while.

Lower tax on upper class is actually better; it encourages investments.
90+% of the money is owned by 7% of the people.
and this 7% of the people control the economy.
The 93% rest depend on the è% to get employed.
An economy only needs upper class, opportunities, and lower class, workers.
Middle class is just a byproduct of a successful economy.
Sad, but quite true in most cases.
The last thing you wanna do is to tax the rich people and make them all flee to China...

Once again, sankaku made my day: Finnish Embassy Smitten by Eila, Interviews Creator (http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2012/05/11/finnish-embassy-smitten-by-eila-interviews-creator/)
Finnish Embassy Smitten by Eila, Interviews Creator
No less than the Embassy of Finland in Tokyo has interviewed the creator of Strike Witches about the inception of adorable Finnish witch Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen.
Finland’s Tokyo embassy operates an official Twitter account (run by “Fin-tan”), and when curious Strike Witches fans quizzed them as to whether they knew of the appropriation of the Nazi-allied nation’s top fighter ace in the form of Eila, they were amazed to discover that the embassy’s answer was “we know everything.”
This later saw the embassy courting Japanese otaku by graciously honouring Eila’s birthday and soliciting Finland shaped mascots for an official competition (this was in fact loosely based on a fairly unsuccesful 2ch thread, which itself was based on an earlier effort with bashful Britannia):
This all culminated in the latest overture to otaku – an interview with Strike Witches creator Shimada Fumikane:
Eila can now be called the driving force behind the embassy’s official Twitter account. Fin-tan spoke with her creator Shimada Fumikane about her inception.
“The Strike Witches project began 7 years ago,” he says. “I aimed for those who are interested in WWII history and warfare, and used the aces of each nation as a motif for the characters. Those characters are the ‘dream team’ battling against the Neuroi, and that forms the setting.”
[...]
Each of the Strikes Witches is based on their respective national characters. In Eila’s case, he conferred with staff as to how to represent Finland’s character: “Her trademark monotone delivery, calm aloofness, sense of duty and compassion, and willpower, along with her cool and smart looks, all of which hide her passion, are Eila.”
[The embassy also generously plugs the Strike Witches movie]
Where Eila’s highly cordial relations with Sanya come into all this (given that it was Russia which attempted to invade Finland, forcing Finland into reluctant alliance with Hitler) is perhaps something neither he nor embassy staff are keen to dwell on.
Resorting to the antics of a squadron of young nymphomaniacs flying around in their pantsu to engage the interest of the Japanese certainly constitutes a unique marketing coup for Finland, although it is not clear whether any of the other nations so featured will be following suit…
I am so proud of this!:rotflmao:

I do enjoy playing soccer, but soccer is not an interesting sport to watch in my opinion.

Not really following the Premiership but I know how it feels, since AC Milan lost the title a week ago as well...

O.o ... I dunno what to think about it. Seems unnecessary to me.

There is no way it can succeed because just trademarking a completed hardware spec including foreign specs like SD card support costs more than that (software/patent licencing aside). Same for the use of 'HD' certification.
Probably a delusional moron eager to get free monies and associate his name to existing attempts (like to claim credit).
Also, just the rewards can chop the total by half at least, shipping included. 'guess he totally expected to considerably exceed his goal, and has to.
3 x 5,000 (2 of 3 remaining)
20 x 3000 (20 of 20 remaining)
20 x 1000 (20 of 20 remaining) - worst, high waste of funds

SD cards are owned by SanDisk, and will have to be liscened. So no go on that one.

How stupid. It's a SD card with a video file on it - It's not like he's really developing anything new. If he was inventing some new codec or something, sure... but he's not. The codec already exists, the card format already exists, and there are already plenty of devices capable of playing video files on SD cards.

Bought an electronic cigarette tonight. I've read about them but never seen any locally and the websites you can buy them off of seem kinda shady. But tonight I noticed my local gas station sells them...
Impressions:
Doesn't really taste like a cigarette
Other than the taste, the "hit to the lungs" feels EXACTLY like a real cigarette.
If I can get used to the taste, I'll definitely be switching from real cigarettes. Water Vapor + Nicotine + Flavoring Agent... much safer than what's in real cigarettes.

Good man :)
On another note, I have been trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate on my Ancient Alienware. Whatever I do, it refuses point blank to install. No matter of coercing, brute forcing, kvetching, cursing, libel or slander could get it to install. I wiped both drives, ran diskpart, switches and other command prompt tricks, nothing would work. I even tried modifying the install files. At this point I was getting quite passionate, and a steady stream of curses, oaths and vows of immanent immolation left my mouth.
During the 100th Google search, some idiot on Microsoft's site told me to remove one of my hard drives, as 7 has "mental problems n u hve to pul th plugg" when it sees multiple harddrives and get stuck "frothing at the mouth."
It can't be that simple right? I pull the sata cable to drive 2 and.....what the hell!
It's installing without a hitch.
I'm not happy. I feel outrageously let down. As a seasoned tech I expected a more spectacular fix to this problem. All my rage and the fix was easy as pulling a drive cable? Thanks MS!

I had a similar issue about a year ago with a ASUS laptop after checking for days the internet i didn't found a single page that could help me. My problem was that i couldn't install Windows as the setup started and either got stuck or i got bluescreen. After few days and almost giving up i got the idea to remove one of the ram sticks... interestingly enough one of the rams was not working property and causing the problem.
