He could have just as easily said Awesome on wheels....you read too much into that blueshogun....
Or another way of looking at it he could have said the Ultimate Automotive Pleasure (though that sounds a bit odd...but whatever).... or you can see it as a staging from sleek to sexy (note that body is admired both when looking at a gorgeous girl and when looking at a gorgeous car) to the next step up that being sex.

Speaking of integrated, I am fixing a computer with brand new parts....running a Geforce FX5500. I was utterly confused, since the person I am fixing this sytem for is going to college to be an IT tech.
The on chip graphics literally runs circles around the FX5500, which apparently still commands $65 these days.

You'll have to accept that the word "sexy" has multiple meanings. The most prevalent being "highly appealing". Calling a person sexy and an inanimate object sexy obviously hold two different denotations.
People aren't giving you excuses for using the word, you are the oddity.
ElijahTW

I've never really liked the word "sexy" being used to describe something someone feels is "awesome", but it really doesn't really bother me really.
What I hate is when people call things sexy that could be interpreted as literally meaning sexy. Was watching a Steelers game with a friend, and after a good play happened he exclaimed "That was sexy", and I had to ask weather he meant the play, or the unnecessary close up of Ben Roethlisberger's ass they just showed.

Still disagree. English is a continuously evolving language, but making an expression more common, applicable and/or acceptable doesn't necessarily give it an alternative meaning. I can't change the language/jargon trend of the century, but if you ask me, it just creates more ambiguity, and I hate ambiguity.

Actually, you're just narrow minded on this. You're assuming that sexual arousal can only come from a female. Here's a list that might enlighten you a bit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_paraphilias
In particular: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_fetishism
"Sexual fetishism, or erotic fetishism, is the sexual arousal a person receives from a physical object, or from a specific situation." Which clearly validates the usage of "sexy" by the word's own defintion, when referring to a car.

Its funny because in this very thread earlier you said this:

I actually meant the same thing XD, at least originally.
Do we REALLY need to be having this discussion in the clean version doesn't mean "Hey guys top this immediately or else"...it just means that well...I'd rather it didn't continue but if it does at least be aware I'm watching you and a to keep it clean.
Granted what I said after that basically ended up being that the line was about to be crossed but that's still not what I would call direct. Direct is like the times where I blasted John for doing something I didn't like though in official capacity I'd apply a bit more diplomacy than those times.

Actually yes, at least not as much. The bigger they are the more cleavage there is and as a direct result the more inappropriate they end up being especially if the possessor insists on wearing clothing several sizes too small for them and/or some that's cut suggestively/seductively.
It's not that it's inappropriate already, it's just that it's less appropriate than the norm considering the amount of cleavage on display and any one-up's manship could have resulted in pics degrading ever closer to being inappropriate. And with words like arousal and intercourse popping up that seemed to be the immediate direction we were heading in.
Also it's not just all of this it's also that there's another Random Thoughts thread where such content and further depravity wouldn't be given a second thought and in the middle of an argument it's very easy to forget which one you're in as zidine already did as is evident by his edited post.

This is discriminatory (due to the lack of a better word i'll use discriminatory), the bigger the bosom the more evident its going to be regardless of clothing wear, and its the first time i hear a bit of cleavarage is inappropriate, there is nothing wrong about that image, also your making all the connections wrong the word arousal did pop up but it had nothing to do with the image in question :P. Now don't get me wrong i totally see your point in bringing it up that this is not the bin and a bit of attention is needed but you jumped the gun just a tad :p.
SCHUMI_4EVER
March 2nd, 2012, 15:45
It's not so much about size unless the clothing is filled to bursting but about the amount of skin shown whether it's more or less appropriate. It just stands to reason that if there's less there will be less to present and thus it's less likely to be less appropriate.
I know the two weren't related (intercourse however was with that image) but the discussion could have easily lead to a relation as others chip in about what gets them going forgetting which version of the thread they're in (as zidine did).

Sure those posts weren't something you liked and don't get me wrong you have every right to express it, but its a different story when you limit it, and doesn't that make it seem like a certain party is limited compared to others ?

Southern California might as well be its own state, they're quite a bit different than the northern area. Besides, lots of people bring banned items into the state all the time. As long as you're not doing something obvious (huge burn pile or spilling liquids everywhere), no one's going to inspect you :p. Hell, my dad had the catalytic converter taken off of his '77 Chevy truck.
Normally during this time of the year it's in the low-mid 50s max, with rain. We've received about half of our normal rainfall so far, and in return, it's been very warm. The cherry tree in my front yard started blossoming two or three weeks ago. It's great weather for bike riding though.

On the topic of warm...someone mind telling the weather that it's allowed to be less than 30C?
For half of our winter, no one reminded the weather that it was allowed to be any less than 32F (0C)... which is why it rained more often than it snowed. Hah. I would have rather had the snow....

There Will Be No Metro UI for Mono
Miguel de Icaza said that Xamarin won’t port Metro to other platforms, one of the reasons being Linux’ failure on the desktop. .NET developers interested in writing cross platform apps will be able to do so using Mono for the business code and rewriting the UI code for each platform.
To make sure there is no misunderstanding regarding Xamarin’s plans for Mono and Windows Runtime (WinRT) UI (Metro), Miguel de Icaza announced on his blog that they “are not working on a WinRT UI stack for Linux, and do not have plans to.” De Icaza mentioned the possibility to bring the Metro UI to Mono by using some of the Moonlight code, but he does not seem to consider it a worthy endeavor, expressing his doubts about Linux which might not be able to keep up with “the growth of other consumer environments”.
In a parallel post, Tim Anderson posted some remarks made by de Icaza during a private conversation at BUILD 2011, the Mono founder expressing his sadness on the current state of desktop Linux, with direct implications on Mono for Linux:
To be honest, with Linux on the desktop, the benefits of open source have really played against Linux on the desktop in that we keep breaking things. It is not only incompatibilities between Red Hat, Unbuntu, Suse, but even between the same distribution. Ubuntu from this week is incompatible with the one nine months ago. And then there are multiple editions, the KDE version, the Gnome edition, the one that is the new launching system.
When you count how many great desktop apps there are on Linux, you can probably name 10. You work really hard, you can probably name 20. We’ve managed to piss off developers every step of the way, breaking APIs all the time.
I’m heartbroken, that’s the bottom line. …
I think that Linux has a tough time on the desktop. And the desktop is starting to not matter any more.
So, it is clear that we won’t be seeing a cross-platform Metro UI. And that is consistent with Mono’s approach which did not attempt to port WPF to other platforms, since it required too much funding and effort. But what UIs are Mono applications going to use if they are going to be cross-platform? De Icaza suggests the following:
•Windows: WinRT, Winforms, WPF (fallbacks: Gtk#, Silverlight)
•MacOS: MonoMac (fallback: Gtk#, Silverlight)
•Linux: Gtk#
•Android: MonoDroid APIs
•iOS: MonoTouch
•Windows Phone 7: Silverlight
•XBox360: XNA-based UI
Having to use many separate UIs for all these different platforms in order to be able to write cross-platform applications makes one wonder if Mono is going to be an attractive choice any longer. De Icaza sees value in having a clear separation between the business code of the application and its UI, and the Mono business code will run on all those platforms, developers having to rewrite only the UI part. And that is actually better because having native UI code makes the application look better than one using a cross-platform UI.
But the rise of web development frameworks, such as jQuery/jQuery UI/jQuery Mobile, PhoneGap or Sencha, and the overall tendency towards HTML5 and web technologies, emphasized lately by the direction taken by Metro and Windows 8, makes one wonder how much room there will be left for Mono and how many developers will choose it for their cross-platform solutions. Mono is attractive for cross-platform developers with investments in .NET, but will that be enough?
Source (http://www.infoq.com/news/2011/09/Mono-Metro-UI)
Am kinda worried atm about the future of Mono because its such a great option but letting UI development behind at this point in time when UI design is getting more important than ever makes me wonder a bit. Linux is a great platform but it needs more tools for better UI development as it has great apps but no taste....

Well, its not about metro or WPF in general but more about the lack of proper UI design tools for linux which i guess have kept away UI coders from it.... not to mention the API hell they seem to have :/

KDE's problem is the divergence with QT, as they hardly contributed upstream. Plus any KDE app drags a giganormous number of dependencies. KDE5 is hardly going to fix that. Therefore, that's staying a turnoff from anything KDE. At lest its modular and cross-platform compatibility is given a damn for. I've been thinking about my guitar and realizing how insane of a bargain it was.
It came with two active wired emg's, an 81 and 85. They cost about £70-80 each.
It has the best grover machine heads which cost about £60 a set. It has the original floyd rose, not a licence and they can cost around £120 for the parts if you luck out.
The guitar has a set mahogany body and neck with an ebony fretboard and proper abalone inlays. The wood costs are about £100 too.
£400 for a guitar with all these parts, a carved top and a killer setup.
Hyper bargain, there is other guitars with the same hardware sets but they seriously start at entry level of £800 plus for the lower end ones.

Quite a few girls let me away with anything and be nice no matter what happens but I can't trust them at a deep level because how would I ever be able to have a real relationship with someone if it's all one sided?
We need to be our own people and clash a bit so there's tension when we act affectionate. If we're always nice to each other most of the time then it means little when we need to be supportive so I leave the girls who act this way, it's unfair if there's no attraction.
I also need someone that will call me out hard when I'm being an idiot so that I respect their opinion but those types of girls tend just to be with me for sex. It seems like I can push their buttons to get them excited but not get them to go that further step so I have a string of short relationships. These girls leave me.
That's why I don't believe there is any girl out there where we can love each other because I can't settle for someone and need an equal or close to an equal.

Yep, the most difficult part is figuring out how to get the damn dashboard apart. Car manufacturers have a horrible habit of hiding bolts. Worst case scenario is something like a Cavalier, where you have to take apart the whole damn dashboard to get to the ignition.

Cavaliers/Sunfires can be a pain to work on at times. Not complicated at all really, just a lot of hidden and hard to reach bolts, and a lot of jobs require removing eight things to get to the thing you intend to replace. A good example would be the 2.4L models which require you to either remove the exhaust manifold or have a specially shaped tool to get to the thermostat because of the positioning.
That said, J-Body cars are pretty decent cars for what they are, how much you can pick them up for, and how cheap parts are thanks to economies of scale. They'll last 250k miles if they're taken care of. Unfortunately, they're treated as throw away cars just like Ford Tauruses, Focuses, etc.
What I like about the J-Body cars is that they were one of those cars that was just... a car. Nothing too fancy, no turbochargers like the lame 1.4L turbochargers found in the Cruze. (Turbochargers for the sake of fuel economy is for losers!) No overly complicated/expensive electronics (Cruze/Cobalt)...
Phil
March 6th, 2012, 04:46

ElijahTW
March 6th, 2012, 04:50
Well most cars are turbo now.
Sadly. Don't get me wrong, I love turbochargers... for sports cars. With a sports car, you expect to pay a lot on maintenance. (Unless you drive a nice, reliable Subaru :p). But if you're driving a Chevy Cruze, do you want to spend thousands down the road when the turbocharger goes? Sure, you could run it without the turbo, but a naturally aspirated 1.4L? Not thanks. If I was in the market for a economical grocery-getter, I would rather have a naturally-aspirated 2.2L than a turbo 1.4. The Turbo 1.4s get somewhat better performance, but if you buy a Cruze for performance you are a raging homosexual.
Now, my favorite type of vehicle to work on is pretty much any 80s truck... and most 80s cars. Where you open the hood, and there is, well, an engine, and not much else. So much space to work that your family could climb down in and have a picnic. Such is the case with my 80-something S10. (Not sure on the exact year... Title says 84 iirc, but it's assembled with parts from 3 S10s of varying years.
Phil
March 6th, 2012, 05:01
Well any naturally aspirated engine will better than a turbo. Turbos have lag. And I agree on the Cruze...and Cobalt. I can understand pouring money into it, but if you want it to go faster, sell it and get something that was made with speed in mind..
ElijahTW
March 6th, 2012, 05:14
Well any naturally aspirated engine will better than a turbo. Turbos have lag.
Decently designed turbo systems don't have a very noticeable lag. Even with lag, having a smaller engine helps in the handling department. (And fuel economy, which I'm not too concerned about. Though it is nice to have a car that puts out 280HP and can still hit 30+MPG with less aggressive driving.)... So it's a trade off, really.

It seems like I've been coming across more and more car talk than otherwise, and that's regardless of the thread; not just this one. That's the only reason I mentioned it. Yes, anything can fit in this thread by default, but when something comes up as often as it has been as of late, there is no harm/reason there can't be a dedicated thread for it, and that's actually also only a benefit for everyone, so I'm not sure why people are so upset over the mere mention of it.
A dedicated thread gives it a place to encourage it for those interested, and keeping it out of here keeps those who may not care for it from having to wade through it. Discussing subject A in this thread is one thing; when the thread becomes subject A every other page and I enter this thread as a general thread and not a subject A thread but that's all I (exaggeratedly) see, it puts me off a bit. Sorry if I seem like I'm stepping on anyone's toes out of intolerance; I was merely making a suggestion I thought would benefit everyone but yeesh.

Also why the defensive stance nobody said they where bothered about what you said, we simply said there's no need. You said that. Three others essentially said "it goes here so you'll have to deal with it" and that was about that. In either case, that was being rather dismissive of my reasoning.
This is also why I'm bothered...Not to be mean but its more like benefiting you :pYou are assuming I'm making the mention on behalf of my own subjective desires only? While it's not a subject I particularly care for, nor do I have a problem with it in general (ask Phil; I even once had a slight interest in it to a degree), but I still brought it up with valid reasoning; because it's been coming up a lot as of late, both in this thread and seemingly half a dozen others.
The "it's Random Thoughts so it fits" doesn't really negate my reasoning but people are tossing my reasoning aside because of that. That's why I'm "defensive" about it.
Maybe next time I upgrade my PC, forget the hardware forum. It fits here, right? Maybe next time I want to show my desktop, forget the thread for it. It fits here, right? Maybe next time I have an issue with an emulator, forget the forums for it. It fits here, right? Get the point?
The idea of this thread has more been for random "chat" or whatever, or as a continually rolling/moving discussion. Anything can go, yes, but for things of more consistence; when a certain subject keeps coming up, there's no harm or reason for why it can't be in it's own place.

Looks like i edited out that part a bit to late, it was meant as a joke :P, at a second read though it appeared a bit accusative/flamish so i took it down (looks like i was right :P), also nobody is tossing anything aside they just said its fine since the car talks that have taken place here are more in the line of friendly chatter, then something dedicated, just cause we may not see eye to eye on the mater doesn't mean were tossing you aside :P.

Sorry if that made you think I was acting badly towards you but I still don't see why you were a bit annoyed with it. There's a ton of times when I've and others have had a conversation here and everyone was following it and then someone brings up something like stupid pc hardware. Its kitch for youngsters over the normal targetted age of such series (we likely all look at Space Ghost, Huckleberry Hound and the Flintstones differently now), easy to draw fanart of. Like with Vocaloid.
For one of them newage Flash-based webseries (like the Happy Tree Friends - warning, unexpectable gore), it rather looks funny, from tribute videos at least.

I've changed a lot over the past few years, my behaviour and personality are much stronger but a lot of the underlying issues are exactly the same.
A rock may cause ripples in the ocean and the ocean can move faster but the rock still shapes everything.
I'm damaged goods and a social clod, an outcast and a loner.
Years ago these thoughts would hurt but now they are more like the facts of other peoples lives. The world passes by and through me.
The ways I've changed which used to seem like progress are made apparent to be sidestepping life itself.
Not taking part in life except some pot shots of experimentation under the guise of a persona but do I really need to get hurt If I live?
I can never trust or rely on people, I have spent frequent periods of walks around 20 miles per day around 10 hour shifts in a bad jobs just so I don't have to depend on someone else.
The jobs I take are beneath me and utterly menial because I left university when I should have requested some help. This life, it kinda sucks.

I'm learning to erase the negativity or at least substitute negativity with a more positive way of thinking. Currently trying to get my life on track, not dwelling on the past so I can move forward and excel at almost any situation that I am presented with. Working on finding something that lessens the anxiety as I find that is a huge barrier in social situations. In almost any social situation I become nervous, tense up and I either can not think of what to say or manage to get the words out that I am thinking in a way that is understandable to other people listening to me. My speech also tends to be quite disorganized and I mispronounce words when I am nervous.
Hoping to eventually kick the severe anxiety and become more confident and outgoing. Working on improving my physical appearance by eating more healthy and being more active so I can finally lose the weight and slim down. The weight is making it more difficult to get around, I don't feel energetic and I am dealing with aches and pains due to my weight. I also risk more severe injury from a fall due to the weight, A couple months ago I tore a muscle or ligament in my shoulder from a minor fall outside my apartment that probably wouldn't have happened if I was fit and slim.
My life is shaping up to be fantastic. Considering going back to college or going to some tech school so I can eventually open my own webhosting or pc repair business. I want financial stability in my life so I can adequately provide for myself and also help my folks out.

Yeah, new appliances just don't last as long as the old.... I know plenty of people with 1980s/early 90s fridges that still function perfectly, yet my 2011 Kenmore fridge gas required service twice already.. The compressor went bad, then the replacement compressor went bad. Heh.
RT: I'm sick of people driving large SUVs, sports cars, large trucks, etc. complaining about gas prices... Gas prices aren't even that high, your vehicle just uses a lot of it. You knew you were buying a vehicle with ****ty gas mileage, what did you expect?
The way I look at it, if gas prices go from $3.00 a gallon to $4.00 a gallon, you're spending an extra $10-$15 a tank. One less trip to McDonalds will make up for that.

At least around here, the majority of cars that use premium fuel are sports cars, so there's other costs typically associated with those that are MUCH higher than the difference in cost per fill-up (insurance, maintenance/repair, etc.).

When you do become more easygoing, try to say the things you want to say but aren't sure about rather than being direct in getting things done. Talk more with the person rather than talking with the conversation, if that makes sense.
Believe me, you can know what to say, when to say it and how to say it to get what is needed from the conversation but doing so leaves you disconnected with people and emotionless over a long period.

Yes, both parties have their share of being silly in such an example, but in my opinion, as the initial action started with her, and as she knew why she was doing it (for attention), she's a little more so at fault in my opinion.

It's true, a lot of guys out there take what girls say at face value.
I'm sure some even thought she was genuinely insecure and seeking comfort.
There was a crazy little journey in my life of discovery where my eyes were opened and I stopped listening to what people say but observe what they do instead, this evolved into trying to think of why they do what they do behind what they say and then developed further into thinking about the beliefs behind the why behind the doing of the saying.
stage 1 is where the open hearted think, the face value
stage 2 is where the closed hearted think, those that were burned in life and look for ulterior motives
stage 3 is where maturity has developed into wiseness after the burned rebuild themselves, trying to see the concealed emotions of others
stage 4 is when high maturity exists, after someone has experienced enough trauma to stop taking things personally but enough compassion to rejoin the world without controlling situations but shaping relationships
These were my musings anyway, I ask myself a lot of questions but if you apply my 4 stages of maturity then you can identify people in a new way.
Like for men, stage one guys buy girls a lot of things and do a lot for them not realizing they are being manipulative. They think the men that stand up to women are jerks and not respecful.
Stage two is when guys see turbogirls abusing men for drinks and dinners, where they develop the woman hatey stage.
Three is the second serious girlfriend after girlfriend one wrecks his heart and 4 is looking out for their children trying to guide them or it could also be a man who has been single a long time because he finds it hard to connect and spends more time thinking about the past.
>I'd love to know the female equivalents. For real, my guesses wouldn't suffice.
I'm rambling, others will attest that I used to write silly things like this every day and I have a folder full of transcripts where I try to understand the world. I never used to stage them but I played a crazy amount of poker and the opponent levels of thinking tie in with my maturity squares.

Ah okay, now it makes sense. I was wondering "who would need a sports car?" SUVs are debatable too, for a majority of people; a van or station wagon (estate) would work fine and get better fuel economy.
RT: I had to do some dump runs for work today. I noticed there was a Dell XPS sitting on the ground. I'll test it out this weekend, hopefully it works!

Ah okay, now it makes sense. I was wondering "who would need a sports car?" SUVs are debatable too, for a majority of people; a van or station wagon (estate) would work fine and get better fuel economy.
The majority of people I Know who drive large SUVs have three kids or less - a full size sedan is perfect for that, or at least get one of the crossover type smaller SUVs. The worst offenders is people who drive large SUVs, almost always buy themselves, and they complain about gas prices.

^Don't get me wrong i can see your point about someone buying for instance a Hammer and complaining about gas prices for instance, but SUV's have more utility to consider then just a big family and i was referring about the ones intended for more modest people mainly, like Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia's, Dacia Duster etc.

Did you do it yourself?
I always use a sewing needle when I re-pierce mine. Doesn't even hurt anymore.
I re perice mine every few months, because I can't decide if I really want the ear ring or not. :p
Yeah I did it by myself again. Lol. It sucks. I wish that my ears weren't like that. I haven't heard of anyone else having a piercing that closes so easily and swiftly like that. The point being that it's in the most common piercing area of your ear and even though you always wear earrings in them for at least...... 6 years, why would they still close up so easily?

I will never understand extreme attention whoring.
Shes not obese or anything but a little flabby in certain areas..
I dont doubt that shes partially doing this for attention but I also think she
compares her body to body types like Miranda Kerr and feels like she falls short

Everyone does it, at least subconciously. Many of them got "worse" bodies, but they can still be ****ing hot.

It doesn't make things look better, it's just her trying to hide whatever flaws she has. IMO the cheapness of most phone cameras do that well enough without any additional overlays.

IMO the cheapness of most phone cameras do that well enough without any additional overlays. It's kind of funny too, because if she was in Photoshop or some image editing program anyway, she could have just made herself skinnier looking, but since that'd defeat the purpose of her claim (not that she's fat anyway), it goes to show (not that there was doubt in my mind) that it was for the attention and not that she's striving to be an extreme and anything less than that is too fat.
I know there are girls out there with such sad mentalities (I saw something on television the other day of these seriously unhealthy women who needed tubes and could barely move right and were almost all bone who felt too fat after eating...), and yes, most of us do "size ourselves up" like that, but most of the time, especially with Facebook and such, it's for the attention.
I've gotten over worrying about it because a guy who'd be after me for that last bit of looks I don't genuinely have is no guy I want part of. Looks are skin deep (and more so with women, something that doesn't last, so a guy after you for your looks will more likely leave you that much easier down the line for someone else [probably younger] with looks).

My big run is coming close now and my training is lining up with the tough targets I have set.
When I was 4 years old, my mother and father where doing a fun run around a small loch. The run was 4 miles in distance and my mother planned to walk round with a buggy if I needed it whilst my father ran but when the starting gun went, everyone ran away from me and the noise of the gun scared me.
I ran after them, it's human instinct, not something you have to learn. When you hear a loud noise and everyone runs then you run too, a survival mechanism that transcends social context.
I was 4 years old, barely 4 years old and I ran the entire thing without ever slowing down or thinking of stopping. That experience became foundational to what I was as a person, the level of fear and pain was the maximum my body ever felt, my heart pumped acid and my mind had only one thought.
You see, my big race is the same race I did when I was 4, it's not a fun run now but a running club competition race. It symbolises me still being alive, I hate running, I despise it but I live for it so I can hear my mind complain about the pain so I can tell it to shut the hell up.
As by coincidence, I now work in the same park as my big race on the 8th april.
I work 10 hour shifts and have a 2 hour walk each way on top of that but I make time to run the loch before work anyway so that when I'm taking crap over my humiliating job I know I can survive acid when no one else around me would dare.

Maybe one day if I meet a nice runner friend.
The way I train is mechanical and on a treadmill, for a few reasons.
Treadmills force fixed speeds and cadence, the conditions are always the same so you can measure progress and ...well I'm not so alone on a treadmill as I would be in the wild.
..treadmills are boring though, the only amusement I can find is the stresses of running. Easy runs on a treadmill to me would be like a normal person walking on one.
Not to sound big headed by saying normal it's just that I've ran enough now that running itself can be as easy to me as a walk at any pace below 7mph.
Hopefully there will be better reasons some day :)

It wasn't always that way

Indeed.
Looks are skin deep (and more so with women, something that doesn't last, so a guy after you for your looks will more likely leave you that much easier down the line for someone else [probably younger] with looks).
I'm sort of confused by stuff like this.
Should you not care about the appearance of your partner, because their personality matters more?
I'm more of the mentality that if someone's not attractive to me, I won't pursue a (possibly) physical relationship.
Sexual attraction is a big part of it.

I'm more of the mentality that if someone's not attractive to me, I won't pursue a (possibly) physical relationship.
Sexual attraction is a big part of it.There's nothing confusing about it.
Being attracted to someone is important, but looks don't necessarily define that. I try and detach from my physical and passing desires and make more a authentic bonding with those that I would.
Looks are, literally, skin deep. Looks change. Looks are doctored (as with the girl above; yes, she's very pretty but her face and hair are all done up, and she's not eating enough [too skinny] because her position or job or whatever probably demand it). Looks are your body; not you. What happens when you wake up to that girl twenty years from now on a morning where her looks aren't done up and she's weak and frail from being skinny and not eating right and aged? Do you just leave her? That's not love. It's my belief that the more weight looks have on a relationship, the easier it is to break for any reason, especially as you age and not only your looks, but your personality and being too, change. If you don't have that deeper bond, it won't stand up. Looks and initial love are your hormones only speaking to you. Once a year and a half or so passes, those feelings die down.
You might understand it more if your were a girl where your looks are taken more into consideration by the opposite gender when it comes to this stuff (meaning you fret about it more, hence the way most women play for attention about their looks), and with us, looks generally change more for the worse as we age. You may also understand it more as you age yourself (not that I'm trying to talk down on you here).
I'm not saying that initial attraction and looks should be ignored, or that they don't play a natural part. I'm talking about going above and beyond and not just letting them dictate things as much.

Yes, and I actually... tried, but nope. I guess in my mind healthiness > pervy-ness. :(
Is not uncommon to hear about a model suddenly dead due to the consequences of malnutrition. And they portray that image as the model to aim to, causing a sort of... epidemic reaction, among youngsters specially. That's around here at least.
