It might still be up, but security seems to have remained just as flimsy as before. One of Sony's ISP was breached and players have reported to have had points stolen from their accounts.
Again, Sony had no clue who was behind it, and even found out there were thousands of succesful attempts.
But as usual, nothing that bowing in front of journalists couldnt fix.

Read my PM's, I already admitted I was careless, I realize that. I listened to you, I apologized even though an apology wasn't needed as I've done nothing that needs apologizing. I realize it was wrong to not listen to anyone, disregard anyone that didn't see it my way or agree with me, I refused to listen to concern and wrote it off as attacks against me.

I did the right thing by not drowning myself in further debt, and the responsible thing by not filing bankruptcy and will be paying off my debts. You are confusing the situation by making it out to be more than what it is.

You are also reading too much into my post that sparked this.

There is not anything else to say, so I'm leaving it at this.

Isn't OpenGL supposed to be a simpler API than DirectX or is it the other way around? Maybe that was true a while back. What are you trying to do, perhaps someone can help.

Ive used both an I don't find one "easier" than the other just slightly different.
in fact i finally figured it out by glancing at a directx tutorial. :p The coordinate system is pretty much like java except no matter how large the texture is you range between 0 and 1. Not to mention the coordinate system also serves as a scaling factor.

a good example according to a tutorial I read:
If you set the top left corner of the quad to have texture coordinates of (0,0) and the bottom right corner to have (0.5,0.5) then the top left quarter of your texture would be used to cover the entire quad

As I was cussing out Microsoft for this travesty, I realized that the VB6 setup files for some reason hadn't completely been copied from my flash drive to my hard drive.

I installed Windows ME on a old PC. Mainly for nostalgic purposes since that was the OS I was using when I really got into computers.

But what's really odd, is that this dinosaur with a 650MHz processor and 256MB of ram is almost as peppy as my Windows 7 machine with a 3.2GHz dual core processor and 6GB of ram, as far as general computer usage goes. Obviously it's capabilities are very limited, but still. Sure, WinME was a terrible OS in many regards, but the fact that general computer usage efficiency hasn't improved even with processors multitudes faster and 24x the RAM says something.

I used to have a wireless keyboard/mouse but having to change the batteries in the mouse every week started to annoy me. (The keyboard only needed replacement batteries every 6 months or so)

I went out and bought the combo of a G15 keyboard and G9 mouse and have never looked back (Although the feet on mouse mouse need to be replaced and the cord has frayed)

With windows 98 you get same performance (maybe better) and better stability... ME must've been the most unstable buggy piece of OS i ever saw...

jobs 24:3-20

as jobs sat on the mount of cupertino, the geniuses came to him privately, saying, "tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?" and jobs answered them, "see that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, 'i am the steve,' and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of bots and rumors of bots. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end of apple is not yet. For os will rise against os, and beta against beta, and there will be viruses and fragmentation in various sectors. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains."

"then they will deliver you up to geeksquad and put you to death, and you will be hated by all geeks for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and load other oss. And many false prophets will arise and lead many to other guis. And because malware will be increased, the monitors of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the mac will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all corporations, and then the end will come."

Why is it that a 75 watt RMS home sound system is considerably louder than a 150 watt RMS car sound system? I find that really odd, especially considering a car's small space. Are the speaker designs that different or what?

My Logitech X530 system's subwoofer pounds pretty damn hard, and it's only getting 25 watts. iirc

Car amps can sometimes be fitted with power restriction.
Your amp may be restricted to 60W

Also, note the voltage at which the RMS rating is cited.

like 150W at 14.4v is inferior to 150W at 12v.
Something to do with how cars electrics can fluctuate in supplying power that lowers output to the speakers.

Anyone ever tried to look up a "how to" video on youtube? If you have, no doubt you've ran across "Expert Village" videos. Quite possibly the worst "how to video" publishers in the world.

Not only do they have "experts" that do not even know what they're talking about, in the rare case you find one of their videos that have someone who has at least read a book on the subject, they, for some stupid reason, split the tutorial into 412 pieces. Now, I'm fine with having multiple parts (especially considering youtube's 10 minute limit), but they got a bit beyond that. A simple step may be cut into 5 one minute videos. WHY?

The worst part about it, is that they're hard to avoid because they're split up into so many parts. A search for "replacing a home air conditioner" brings up all 4000 parts of expert village's take on it before you get to see any other uploaders version.

So damn annoying. I wish youtube would ban them.

protip: add -expertvillage to your search query to remove all results that are from them.

Princess Garnet
May 24th, 2011, 23:58
The limit is beyond ten minutes now (I think it's fifteen?), but any videos from before that was raised will, of course, still be ten minutes long at most (the exceptions aside).

Either way, there is no damn excuse for a simple tutorial being split into 47 parts, unless it takes 47 x (youtube's time limit) in length.

This sums it of nicely:

well as I said, current is important. less ohms means more current, more current means more electric flux around the speaker coil, more flux means better audio response from the speaker cone.

Their spark plugs aren't particularly great, either. The 88 Cavalier I owned before needed new spark plugs. Bought the $5 OEM AC Delco plugs. Made sure they were gapped right. Torqued them to spec, made it about 400 miles on them before my engine starting misfiring. Took advantage of the warranty and replaced them - didn't even make it 50 miles before they started causing misfires again. Replaced them with the real cheap brand (autolite, I think) $1.50 spark plugs. Never had a problem with them for the rest of the time that I owned the car.

Also, substandard doesn't even begin to describe their audio systems. My first car, a 96 Chevy Beretta had a stock AC Delco system, absolute garbage. The radio wouldn't pick anything up unless I parked on top the radio tower, sounded like it had a power output of about 2.5 watts, and the tape deck broke my 3.5mm->tape adapter.

The 2000 Cavalier I owned (the one that almost killed me) had a stock AC Delco system in it, and it didn't sound quite as bad, but still not acceptable.

Yeah. They suck on a regular bases. On the other-hand, for heavy industry, they make good stuff. For instance, the Corvette Z06 has hydroformed frames by Delco.

My Beretta and Corsica (both have the same motor) both liked the AC Delco plugs, and from reading around online and asking people I knew about the motor/car, it was the most recommended for the motor. Autolite was said to be okay (and is what the Corsica came with stock), and there was another (Bosch Platinum?) that was said to be avoided (which is what I found in the Beretta when I got it).

I can't speak for the radios much. I put a different one in mine so I could use my MP3 player. The speakers in my Corsica did sound better than the ones in my Beretta though (maybe they were worn, I don't know, I didn't really care).

I wouldn't consider the backyard and technology as much of camping to be honest, but have fun. I've done that before (literally, with an old television and a Nintendo even). However, it doesn't compare with when I trekked across state with a friend and sister and literally camped in the woods. We had phones (not smartphones) for emergency and that was it as far as technology goes. Hiking and fire cooked hotdogs and marshmallows and Smores. Now I want to do it again this year.

Engh, a mile from the house via the woods in your backward still isn't much of camping to me unless the house itself is alone in the middle of the woods to begin with or something. There's camping, and then there's camping as it should be. I'm not a big nature/camping person but even I say the two experiences are worlds apart. They're both fun though.

World of truth to this. Hiking in the woods behind my own house and getting chased by a bear are two very different activities. Bears are nosy bastards, always rummaging through your belongings like it owns them.

I used to go camping all the time as a kid when I was in scouts. Best time as a young un', paddle or trek your gear for a few kilometres, set up camp, go fishing, swimming, hiking, build ****, make smoke bombs, awesome times man.

You, my upright man, are correct on such assumptions. Due to your Real Man status, you obviously killed a 12 point buck (or in your case a wallaby) for your super, all the while being chased by nasties such as boomslangs and death adders. No home made lunch for you. Truly a staggering feat accomplished by such a young lad. Simply magnificent.

Hmm... I'm thinking about attempting to convert a car into a CNG/Gasoline Bi-Fuel vehicle. Would make for a fun proect, albeit possibly pointless since there isn't any (many, atleast) CNG refill stations in Ohio. Still, I think CNG could make a nice stop-gap in between gasoline and whatevers next.

CNG feels like you just attached a 2 ton load to the back of your car. Pick-up and acceleration sucks big time...just saying.

Anyway if it's a simple carburettor engine and not bigger then 1.6L then it should be pretty easy if you manage to get your hands on the right CNG kit. Heck the transition from petrol to CNG and vice versa can even be made while the car's moving and without stalling the engine.

From what I've read, fuel injection conversions isn't complicated either. And the CNG kits are very easily available for about any engine. I'm thinking of buying a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire I saw on craigslist for $800. Description said tranny slips in and out of gear, but I'm sure I could fix it (well, maybe. My last tranny rebuild proect lead to loss hair and eventually just picking up a junk yard tranny that worked...). 2.2L engine, but I saw a youtube video about a guy converting his 2.2L Cavalier and it's the same exact engine.

The main problem is sourcing CNG in the first place. Sure, I have natural gas pumping into my house, but it's not compressed and the machine for that costs thousands of dollars.

(At least the base model 1996 I had, never driven a Z26, though mine had the same 3.1L V6 the Z26 did so I'm sure they're fairly similar.)I didn't have it to be fast, nor were they meant to be very fast anyway. That being said, I never found it by no means slow. I had it because it was a good balance of cost/speed/fuel economy/style for me, and above all, it was small.

It was a Turquoise-ish or Blue-ish 1994 Z26 that I had, and it was in rather good condition too (maybe not perfectly immaculate, but essentially minimal rust, which living in Ohio, you should know how rare that is) and had a sunroof, remote starter, etc. I believe it had only two previous owners, and at least the prior one had it garage kept. It was very clean inside (seats were comfortable). It only had ~53,000 miles when I got it, which is pretty low for a 1994 car.

I miss it, terribly. Some moron pulled out right in front of me trying to go the opposite way late last Autumn (I hit them only going ~20MPH so nobody was hurt thankfully). It was, of course, "totaled" beyond economical cost due to the age/value of the car, so it was a write off. I'd never find another in as good of condition (even finding a decent one around here is next to impossible it seems).

Yeah, they're great little cars. The one I had was in fantastic condition at 110,000 miles. No rust, no apparent mechanical problems, paint job was still nearly flawless, and also had a sunroof like yours. Only problem with that car was that the temp gauge didn't work - which turned out to be a very bad thing. I was driving down the highway and a radiator hose blew - I didn't hear anything, smell anything, or see any smoke until it was too late and the engine was destroyed.

I miss the car because like most people, nothing can be more special than the first car you ever owned.

Edit: The only other problem I had with that car, come to think of it, was that I had to replace the seal for the sunroof.

I replace my radiator hoses every 8,000 miles since owning that car. Overkill? Yeah, probably. But they're like $1.50 a foot of radiator hose, unless you buy the kind that are pre-bent for your vehicle which usually isn't necessary.

Eh, 15MPG isn't all that bad for that type of vehicle.

My 96 Ford Explorer got maybe 12MPG but it was in terrible shape and the transmission was fu*cked in a way that caused it to not shift until 4500+ RPM. Still need to put a new transmission on that thing since it was great for hauling stuff around and since it looked like crap already, I didn't really care if I busted up the exterior loading stuff. Was considering fitting a stick shift in there.

bah i prefer the hours and minutes. Between there is nothing like waking up in the morning with cup of coffee and a laptop with half the drivers missing, half the tools missing, the catalyst control center failing and AVG not detecting anything (as usual). What a great day is ahead of me.

* Note to self: Disable internet after you go to sleep. No one in my house knows how to use a ****ing computer.

EDIT: I think im going to end up formatting. Everything i need to restore another thing is gone. Every folder, every tool. Its almost as if a hacker screw me over.

Who would have though, that if you reversed Guile's theme from a NES pirate version of Street Fighter 2, you would hear something very similar to the rick roll theme!

I like the time stamps (as they are) better than "x days/weeks/years ago". It's more accurate. It still says "today", "yesterday", etc. along with the time, so for you lazy ones that can't do numbers, it's kind of like both anyway.

Then again, I don't really pay attention to it/rely on it. I'm surprised anyone else even noticed.Well atm its 3 to 1 cause i also liked the old one more :P.Ha, there's proof that those who like it the other way are lazy ones that can't do numbers (I'm kidding, but there's two or maybe three more people above you apparently missed to count that like it as it is now better).Did i press a button by mistake somewhere? im getting date instead of hours and minutes when looking at the last post.More proof (again, I kid). Look a mere four, five, and six posts up from yours. Was already asked/answered.

Meh is usually behaviour exhibited by females for a top up of self esteem.
The trend is for them to join a male oriented community then make token posts with all substantial communication being succubus like in nature.

Yeah I know what you mean, its like how the blu-ray drive in my PS3 makes it powerful, without it games would look like the PS2. When I hear crud like that it makes me wish people would learn to do at least a bit of background research to get the terminology and a semi decent understanding of what does what before shouting the first thing that comes into their head.

Nope. Stereo analog out only. Kinda sad, really since my 5.1 system is 100% analog in.

You have audio over HDMI and optical. At least that's how it is for the "fat" models. Dunno about the slims. They should have both of those as well unless optical out was cut to reduce production costs.

I also know people who refer to the entire PC setup as a computer and think the computer "box" is something else (with it's own name).
