I got quite a laugh out of that lol.

Likewise, but even more so, I applaud the uncle for doing what he did; too many kids these days deserve a good ass whooping - especially those that try to fall into the gangbanger hardass persona. Such a path would never end well and what his uncle did showed a lot of (tough) love.

Browsing from bed using my logitech wireless mouse and kb with my HDTV, wireless sucks.

I need a bluetooth mouse and kb combo, with this wireless I have to put the mouse right in front of the receiver or it will not work.

Everything's better with Bluetooth.

Except transferring files.

That is one major pain using bluetooth

Either you're a chicken, or she's got something real dirty on you.

True. Im appalled myself at some kids treat there own parents, while their parentsd turn a blind eye like their kid can do no wrong. One of my friends cursed her mother out over the phone when we were hanging out. I would never have the guts to do that, because of my father. My father would never physically hit me, he'd punish me in other ways, like forcing me to do heavy labor like painting the outside of the house on a 80 degree day, and putting up drywall.

One time when I came back late from a party, I snuck in the back, and there he was, sitting at the table, calmly sipping coffee. He looked at me for a few seconds, then said you know what time it is?
I said "Yeah, it's late". He said "Incorrect. It's not late, you are just in time!
I was lost, so my dad noted the look on my face then proceeded to march me to the garage. He then told me to change the oil in all the cars, (we had 4, one of which was his prized 1963 Corvette, which needed a type of oil that we didn't have...so I had to drive to the store and buy it, at 2am) and I was not allowed to come in until I was finished. After that (my clothes were ruined) I learned to get home EARLY.

This is the scenario: It's a class of 34, 29 guys and 5 girls. There are supposed to be 2 class representatives/prefects elected through class elections. ~4-5 contestants come forward and everyone in class gets 2 votes each, this is how it should be, and how it went in all the other classes.

What happened with us? She fixed one spot for a girl, even though none of the 5 girls have the talent or ability to be an effective CR. I lost the guy elections by 2 votes. Screw that.

January 8th, 2011, 13:39
Yeah but doesn't it show you want more responsibility? like in a work place by having more to do it shows your boss your motivated to do more work and it's helps move up in the company. Although this doesn't really apply in a school but it looks good on your CV I guess.

If you write here on the resume that you where class rep the one doing the reading for the hiring will probably end up loling and thinking where does this guy think he's getting an interview for... school ? Short version means squat. I agree with schumi it only means more chores without any real benifit (except for the fact that some teachers might like you more cause you look more responsible due to the position, which still means nothing if you don't back it up with some work and having the teachers in your favor doesn't really bring that many benifits to excuse the extra load of work you gotta do).

SCHUMI_4EVER
January 8th, 2011, 16:43
Class rep? School Prefect I can understand as well as LRC Chairman (basically the same as Student Body President), heck even House Captain, but the Class Rep is nothing but a guy who doesn't get any breaks and then at the end of his school career gets a small mention that he's pro-active in his testimonial (providing he was elected class rep often enough for the teachers to actually remember him). Though I guess the rest of the world may have different standards.
Heck, saying you were the 11th guy in an 11-man squad in the E side of your school would look more impressive than saying you were class rep.

I was not amused with the Sydney Festival, the whole thing was a disgusting marketing ploy by the ANZ bank to attract more customers. There was no purpose to the whole thing, just a collaboration of weak performances by half hearted "talent". The only guy who was any good was a busker in a tunnel away from the whole ordeal playing his heart out.

Corporate events disguised as festivals. I don't like that.

It's all about how you spin things. If you put "class rep" just like that on your resume it's worth nothing. If, however, you list all the responsibilities you have, that could translate into your showing leadership and time management skills, to name a few. Also, from the sounds of it, you have to be smart to be the class rep, so grades aren't an issue. The ones chosen are usually the brains anyways - they set the curve in the class.

Bottom line, when you have no work experience, do you think it looks better to have a big blank spot, or something that shows of at least SOME sort of skill (not to mention the implication that you're smart for being voted in)?

Not to sound arrogant though i know how a CV is made, no mater how you try to sugar coated none will pretty much give a damn that you've been a class rep here... at max he will lol a bit seeing you put something like on a CV.

School achievements/competitions won (while receiving some kind of diploma or mentioning for them) however, now that is something that counts in a CV, again here at least.

I'm sorry but the "this" part is wrong, your comparing real work experience with class rep, work experience always helps, and its logical its better to sugar coat it a bit.

Cid Highwind
January 10th, 2011, 19:21
No, I'm stating that with the right words and highlighting some specific responsibilities you will be able to present some personal qualities through what would otherwise seem as just another irrelevant job you did. Real work doesn't always help, as the experience you had in it might be completely irrelevant.

Having been a brilliant car mechanic doesn't suddenly make you a good programmer, no matter how appreciated you were. But if you were creative with finding solutions and workarounds, performed great in a team and took the lead and showed great responsibility in case the supervisor had a day off, you're suddenly a very interesting candidate.

You're missing the point - you're trying to show employers qualities you possess, not necessarily what you've done. If all a class rep is a title, and you have no added responsibilities, then no, it doesn't really need to be mentioned. Maybe a quick note at the bottom or something. But if it actually requires extra time/skills/whatever, then it can only help you.

And I'm not talking about sugar coating, I'm talking about mentioning EVERY little bit that shows skills. It matters when you've got not much else on the resume.

Not a typhoon insane, but enough to flap your umbrella the wrong way. Ten-fifteen minutes after the heavy rain, suddenly the sun came out again, shining, glaring. It was funny seeing how the motorcyclists scrambled to find a place to protect themselves from the rain, wearing their rain coat, thinking that the rain would last, drove away, and while they were still inside their water-proof coat, the sun went out again.

That is a form of sexism..............

Nope.

He is not discriminating them because of their gender but because of the social development of the group as a whole.

If I taught two groups of pupils, one set were all lazy black people and the other were master race tier Aryans who were amazingly intelligent.

Would critiquing the blacks be racist or a truthful representation?

For the record, I don't discriminate. How is stating the obvious about feminist propaganda and the blunt truth about a large percentage of western women discrimination? Do I throw them all in the same category? No, and maybe if you people would read my posts a bit more carefully you'd see that. If I was sexist, not only would I shamelessly say so, but it wouldn't even be questionable among this forum to begin with.

Quite frankly, my comparison makes perfect sense. For instance, if I were to say that a large number of catholic priests have sexual relations with kids; would that be discrimination or an basic observation? If I said that all catholic priests were boy molesters instead, THAT would be discrimination. Not saying anyone here believes that, but there are people that do.

Finally, what is your definition of sexism to begin with? Let's take a look at wikipedia's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexism) definition, shall we?

Sexism, a term coined in the mid-20th century,[1] is the belief or attitude that one sex is inherently superior to, more competent than, or more valuable than the other. It can also include this type of discrimination in regards to gender. Sexism primarily involves hatred of, or prejudice towards, either sex as a whole (see misogyny and misandry), or the application of stereotypes of masculinity in relation to men, or of femininity in relation to women.[2] It is also called male and female chauvinism.

Do I claim that men or myself are superior? No. More competent? No. More valuable? No. Promote hatred? No. Prejudge? No. Do I define them all by stereotypes? No.

Another thing. If I'm so sexist, then how come I get along with just about every female member of this forum that ever joined? Do you see me taking jabs at any of them because of their gender?

You can say I discriminate based on stereotype all you want. In reality, I form my opinion based on obvious trends/facts and experience.

I agree with you. But I don't think the "majority" of women act that way. Granted most women are more "emotive" and sweat over details that are elusive to males, that does not make them untrustworthy or stupid. To tell you the truth I have met more level headed women then men. I notice that when they are in packs, they tend to seem gregarious (most males are solitary) but be alone with one and they are not unlike us.

I have to admit though, id rather eat my moms food rather then my dads, even though he is a far better cook. Food is just more epic when a woman cooks it!

The problem is that you have already made clear through numerous unprovoked post that you think the majority of women are gold diggers. Saying "Omg I only said most of them were whores." vs "OMG ALL OF THEM ARE WHORES." Just because you didn't state an absolute doesn't make it any better.

There are obviously multiple definitions for the word.

"Sexism is prejudice or discrimination based on gender. Like the other "isms," sexism can be both personal and institutional."

1. I talk mainly about women in my culture. I thought I made this clear already. If I haven't, now you know. This is what nullifies a large part of that claim with infinite recursion. Besides, I don't know all women, so it's illogical to say every last one on Earth is. But in western culture, all you have to do is examine the mountains of evidence to clearly see that something is seriously wrong.

2. I think you're just intentionally adding fuel to the fire now. Not one f@#%ing time have I called women whores in this forum or any other, nor did I say most or even some are whores; except Paris Hilton who is by all definitions of the word. Are there lots of whores out there? Yes. Are there many different types of whoring in which the meaning of the word may vary from person to person? Yes. Do I claim that all women are guilty of whoring in one degree or another. Hell no. Unless you think that gold digger and whore are one in the same. I don't think they are.

There are obviously multiple definitions for the word.
Which ultimately mean the same damn thing.......

I always wanted to try greek yogurt.

I saw Greek style at the supermarket and too are wondering about the contents, with a whole aisle of just yoghurt though I was a little overwealmed.

Over the next few months I'm going to try just about every type they have with the little individual tubs until I find a brand I like, but there is so much to choose from.

Flavored or plain? I am not used to the plain ones. They are just... I don't know, weird?

I've tried two different flavours so far, one far more sugary than the other. The one with the less sugar was dangerously close to the use by date, however I found it a bit nicer. The little chunks of real fruit in there was pretty nice.

I'll have to develop a pallet before I try the flavourless stuff. Friends of mine say it is pretty nasty stuff to taste.

But it won't have severe effect on the console... right? :(

Nah, it seemed pretty fine. Electricity bill was just a bit higher.

I don't think he means anything sexist towards any race, but speaking of which I thought you were a woman on the forums at first because I recognize that woman from full metal alchemist.
Well anyways I feel that man and women are pretty much equal; as some guys are really friendly and good to get along with and then some guys can be stuck up and big headed as well. Women in my actual opinion are better as far as personality. The reason I say this is because I've had stupid jerks in school who occasionally wanted to pick a fight with me when I have never talked or bothered them. Maybe it's because of my size. That's one point; another point is that I feel women can also hurt.
But they can probably hurt you emotionally and mentally making you feel like ****.
Possibly if you have a girl in your life,
if she cheats around and messes with other people behind your back. It can
probably make you feel like you want to commit suicide or go ballastic.
Men= physical pain Women = emotional and mental; well most of the time.
I guess that's why I'm single.

Thanks but I like not glowing in the dark so I'll pass.

Anyways a while ago I said my HDD had died...well it hasn't, it's the external bay that just seems to be on the fritz and basically busted. After the issues with the 320 I'd put my 250GB WD drive in the external, house trips a little while later, turn the external back on and that drive isn't responding either. So on a hunch I open my new external and put the 320GB in there and it reads it flawlessly.
Sweet now I just need to replace an external enclosure and not a HDD and all the Data on it.

For those days when nothing goes right you can cheerfully vent your frustration with a machine gun or heavy machine gun/gatling gun (depending on the level of frustration). Now for those days when your looking for some quick fun the best choice is the shotgun to play some "pop goes the human" (or should it be boom in this case...). SMG's on the other hand are nice cause they are easy to carry around and helps tremendously with proving your point in society. RPG's/Grenade launchers i need not to explain, they are the best to use with vending machines or as can openers.

PS:

Windows A List of People Who Need to Stop Writing Software (http://camendesign.com/windows/stop_writing_software)

Sony
New Sony laptops come with two pages in the Add/Remove list of just Sony junk.
They are also the authors of one of the worst pieces of software ever, SonicStage.
ISPs
I pay you to put a cable in my house, and let me send things up and down it; no more.
I don’t want your useless anti-virus products. I don’t want your “Desktop Help” applications. I don’t want your tray icons. I don’t want your proprietary browsers. I don’t want an e-mail address with you. I don’t want your website as my home page (including a Google search that only shows adverts).
Symantec
Somewhere along the line you decided to protect people from their own computer, rather than protect the computer itself. You have never once written a piece of software that didn’t slow a machine down to a painful crawl. Every machine I have come across that has had Norton on it, has had a virus and multiple spywares still there. Your product is so bad, its own uninstaller does not work. You sell a false sense of security, nothing more.
McAfee
Your product is slow, useless, impossible to configure and relies upon passwords, activation and Internet Explorer just to do its job. It fails on every level.
Printer manufacturers
A Printer driver is a folder with one ‘.ini’ file, and a couple of ‘.dll’s and that’s it.
It is not a 50 MB download. It is not an IE Toolbar, and Side Pane. It is not half-baked photo software. It is not a splash screen when your computer starts. It is not a tray icon.
Yahoo
If Microsoft bought you, your software would actually improve.
The Yahoo Toolbar is like AIDS. You have to be careful what software you download, otherwise you’re bound to get it from one of them along the line.
Nokia, and other phone manufacturers
You seem to be under the impression that you are the only piece of software on the computer. You’re happy to rear your ugly face at every boot. You make a simple thing like syncing seem like surgery. Your software is so unwieldy, it’d be easier to take up origami.
nVidia and ATI
A graphics card driver drives the screen. It does not include a tray icon, that handily reminds you that you don’t have an SLI configuration every time you boot. Your configuration options shouldn’t be so complex that I have to choose between a basic and advanced mode, both of which are as equally useless as each other.

Mine rang me and said she would commit suicide in front of my daughter unless I got there and picked her up first.
I went to go get her and was confronted by her boyfriend who tried to put a spade through my neck while she locked the doors.
After knocking me to the ground he just missed my neck (Leaving a scratch down the side of my neck) I managed to get to my feet and get out the front door whilst she was still at the back one

In the process of it all my $800 phone was smashed (At the time it was worth that). Plus my wallet containing $25 and a full pack of cigarettes came out of my pocket and got stolen by them.

It was all done in an attempt to get my $100,000 life insurance so they could feed there speed habits

Indeed, I got all kinds of stories that you guys have never read though

Their is the time I was in the waiting room of the doctors surgery whilst my mum was being rapped, then there is the time I was rapped by a truck driver one, theres the time I cheated death by crashing my taxi into a barrier at 90km/55miles an hour without a seat-belt and barely got a scratch.
Plus the time I had an accident and almost cut my penis off and the op later I had to have to fix my urethra that made it feel I was urinating razor blades.

Then theres the just wild stories like...

The time I was hitch-hiking on a dark country road at 2am and was picked up by a hot business-woman chick that took me 100km further then she was going to bunk at her nans for the night and by 7am were doing the hot tango with her beginning a 6 month relationship at which point I asked her to marry me but was told "You are my walking, talking sex toy and I don't ever wanna get married or have kids. You feel like a root?". (I replied by saying nothing and turning on my PS1 to play "Soul Blade" while she walked out the door never to be seen again.

Or the time when I was driving taxi's and a hot chick asked me if I wanna have sex, I thought the obvious in that she wanted to get out of paying, but after giving her what she wanted took her for the rest of her journey and she insisted on paying in full still.

The list just goes on, my life would seriously make for one crazy movie

Okay, since we're giving personal/life stories here, this is probably as good of a time or place as I'm going to get, so here goes...

I have a confession to make. Most of you assume, think, refer to me as, and/or believe that I am a guy, but I'm not.

Initially I wasn't here much, or didn't care, so I let it go and said nothing, but it's gone on so long now that I ended up living a false identity.

To be fair, I never claimed I was a guy. I did have "Lord" in my name at one point, and there's a long story behind that and the whole lot of it (seriously, way, way, way too long to get into in this post), but if you look at many other things, there's probably enough hints to suggest the truth if you know where/how to look.

In short, I wanted to be here for why I was here, my interests, and not my gender, so I let it go. Fear wasn't a big part of it itself, but I won't say I didn't shy from correcting anyone over the potential drama, of which I wanted nothing of (or "feared" you could say). After some time, it became more and more claustrophobic, you could say, and I'd rather not live a false identity, so it's been bothering me inside.

That's the gist of it.

I have already told a few of you, in order.

cottonvibes, you're pretty cool. We should talk more. You were the first I spoke to about this, as I was wanted to comment on a post you made about when you faked being a girl, and I got some good feedback about handling my situation.

SCHUMI_4EVER, it was funny seeing you give the whole "a girl knows more about overclocking than me" statement when you found out. That made me laugh. I was glad to see that you didn't freak out when I told you.

M.i.a., you're awesome! I'd never be able to be as free and close to someone like that living the false identity that I was. This proves why I wanted to mention the truth and not ignore it. I'm glad there's some other active girls around here too. Your signature quote also make both of mine jealous.

Phil, you've always been my buddy. There need to be more gender-neutral (and anything neutral in anything) people like you.

Irukapooka, we spoke, but not too personally. You seem very cool. We'll have to talk some more.

blueshogun96, you were the one to indirectly teach me to stop PMing people and to just say it. You didn't really say it, no, but I realized it by what we discussed. I was already ready for a long time, but as I said, I didn't want to make a big deal of it, but ah, any big deal that comes of it isn't because of me, so I don't care anymore.

To the rest of you, that's part of the real me you didn't know.

So, therapy session over.

You're an intelligent, helpful member of our community (even though sometimes your posts are tl;dr :p); your gender is quite irrelevant. I will concede that it's always pleasing to see a female with your level of tech enthusiasm and knowledge, but in the end gender does not have a intrinsic doctrine and, in an ideal world, should not determine how one is perceived.

Not that I know of, no. This was almost 10 years ago, and I haven't asked about it since, neither has it come up in conversation, so I just don't bother him with that.

But, she is a vindictive *****, I'll give him that.
When they got divorced (yay!), (and I blame the British legal system for this) she got main custody of their twin girls (who were like 4-5 at the time?), and he was supposed to have them every weekend or some ****. Anyway, she kept on refusing to have them go to him, have him see them, even just talking to them was kept at a bare minimum.

My brother fought her in court for several years, at one point they even gave her fines for every time he wasn't allowed to see his kids, but the stubborn ***** kept on being stubborn.
Yet for some reason she still has the kids...
And well, my brother moved back to Norway a few years ago, and as far as I know they've "stopped" fighting about this (with them living in England), and with them turning 18 soonish she can't tell them what they can and can't do.

But meh, crazy *****es are crazy.

Anyone with such a liking to sims games is either a girl or a gay guy.

I would know.

Not only that but your typing patterns and articulation all point towards female.

Princess Garnet
February 1st, 2011, 22:22
I know a few guys who like the game that aren't gay. I think it's like ~66% of the game's players are female by EA's claims, which is majority, but unless there's alot of gay guys out there, ~33% is still alot of guys who play.

Speaking of which, Outdoor Living Stuff came out today. Many are saying the Steam version isn't working (that is, the stuff isn't showing up in game).

Edit: The Steam version of Outdoor Living Stuff now works. The base game needed an update to work with the new expansion content.

You guys are crazy!Yeah, EA castrated The Sims 3 by making modding a bit more difficult. I'm sure people will figure out work arounds in due time. It's no longer the day the game came out. That was the word when the game came out, that it was unmodifiable, and everyone was freaking out that there'd never be custom content or such, but it's not quite the case today.

Alot of the early content was notorious of having bad side effects (namely, hen the game later got updated), but it's not as bad today, and as with any game, updates can break them. Maybe EA foresaw the complexity and didn't recommend modifying it in the way they were for that reason (of course, I'm sure wanting to push sales via their own store was part of it). Alot of people take the game's complexity for granted.

Plus, the Sims 2 has had, what, four or five years on it?

@Zedeck.

So that's why the long posts.

Does that make me a girl too? O_O

Oh, and here's my random thought(s) for today.

1. Ultimately, one should NEVER give a damn about what others think of you. If you know you are an outstanding individual and or even just a normal person, why would anyone else's opinion matter? They don't define who you are in life, YOU do! It doesn't matter if you are a chick, a dude, black, white, gay, straight, Christian or Atheist. You deal with the cards you are dealt with, and even if you just have a pair of 3s, if your opponent (i.e. society, dogma, etc.) has a full house and he doesn't know it, you can still win.

2. I am happy. I think I have finally put an end to my OpenGL multithreading nightmare! If it works, I'll be releasing my next emulator rather soon. Sorry it took so long. I'm just glad this mother f@#%er is finally going to reach someone else's hard drive :)

I still find it funny that the person I considered to be the go-to-guy for overclocking or PSU selection around here is actually a gal.

I have to admit I've found the Sims Time Management/Dating/RPG games quite entertaining (there were 2 on GBA and I think one or two more on DS).

But the the actual main series bores the living daylights out of me, for an hour or so it'll be entertaining but after that it's just snoresville.

What!!! Sacrilege!!! I can play the original DOS version (The Sims House Party with Livin Large) for hours!!!

I love career progression, but once you get to the end, it loses. Maybe because it's the first one. To me, more than two people in a house gets complicated. And making friends for your job.

The Dark Knight Rises: We've got Tom Hardy playing Bane, Anne Hathaway for Catwoman. We've also got Joseph Gordon-Levitt for some role.

A comment about Zedeck's case and similar situations. I've also met a few girls online that were faking/ommiting they were girls cause they were afraid of rejection or abuse. In the end you girls are right, you should keep such info for your real life. Not all dudes know how to respect them and always try to get something from them so.

As for me, I have a couple of female friends and I treat them normally, like they were sisters.

Btw what pisses me off most of the time is when a dude comes and say "only gay men makes friend with girls". **** that ****. Whoever says that is sick, really. Like you were going to a girl just to have an intimate relationship. Guess we are most grown up to know that, we can be only friends. There are women to befriend and women to date.

That's what I think at least.

Wait, is that a typo there?

Oh, I see what you meant by that. When I said "always thought you were a guy", I meant it in the past tense - I had no clue that you were a girl. Not due to any of your behaviors or anything, but rather that it's my default assumption unless it's clearly stated otherwise. On that note, I commend you for not being your everyday guy-centic-forum girl who can hardly make a single post without some sort of reference, vague or explicit, to the fact that they are the proud owner of a vagina. :p

The worst that could happen is that someone develops a digital crush on you :)

I think you're the most probable candidate for that outcome. :p
