Its always nice to get a better connection then what you previously had.

I went from a connection that cost me $50 for every 3GB I used (And a max real world down speed of 0.5MB per sec in well shared torrents) to my current unlimited connection for $50 (And a real world down speed of 2MB per sec in well shared torrents) and now couldn't be happier.

Hopefully better options will come available in your area one day soon

I wish someone would tell google or whoever controls the reported attacks sites that the national TV broadcaster's TV Schedule is NOT an attack site. I've been having to get to the next day by editing the url rather than clicking a button for weeks now.

there is a setting in firefox to prevent that message from popping up. Look it up in google.

In there you untick "Block reported attack sites"

I have been forced to use it ever since NGEmu was reported as an attack site.

For everyone else it seems to be fixed now, but for me I must have that option unticked to visit the site.

First night when the snow actually stayed on the ground for the whole day after, minus 10 degrees celcius when I woke up at 6am. Has stayed at around that temperature the entire day. Now (11pm) it's -12 degrees.
Boss called if I could come to work at 8am, fair enough, no problem, and I didn't have anything better to do.
When I went out, I tried to open the lock for my bike (It's surprisingly easy to ride a bike on snow/ice, provided you take it a bit slow(er) and don't do any sudden turns), but it was frozen. I couldn't even get the key in the lock.
Spent like 5 minutes fiddling with it, then I just started walking, calling my boss to tell her I'd be late.

Never had this problem when I had my bike outside last winter... Though it did get a bit harder to open.. Will be trying to get it open tomorrow, "by any means necessary", so I can get the bike inside, and avoid this problem altogether.

You see, you gotta give props to genre artist for reaching to new ears BUT that doesn't mean that they are the best in their genre.

That's what we would call Pop.

Ex: My friends doesn't know a thing about Rock, Metal and the sort, but thinks that Linkin Park is the greatest Rock band.

That's a very baseless opinion as he doesn't know much about the genre and haven't heard other bands, he would be cruxified by some Rock listeners.

That's one of the cases with Hip Hop, what reaches you trough the radio is mostly material songs without substance, but you can't judge the genre based on this only.

If you go deeper into the genre you might find a lot of artist that will marvel you with their lyrics about different topics.

For some really odd reason i cant upload anything anywhere. After installing and running Spybot and Ikarus something got messed up. The downloads are fine but when i try to upload a pic in imageshack or a file in megaupload it automatically fails. It doesnt even try or reach a %. It just fails as soon as i hit upload =\

Interesting article, I currently don't have a full understanding of what is going on in American politics today, although from what I have read (away from piss weak mainstream U.S Media outlets) this article does strongly support the notion that the Republican party are detrimental to America's well being today, deliberately hurting the country in order to make it weaker so by the time the next election rolls around, they can point the finger and say it was the Democrats fault for the spiraling decline of the U.S. I get the idea that this is part of the cause, along with the Democrats not having enough balls or display enough power to push the right legislation through the senate. Coupled with the Republicans blocking legislation to expose sources for advertising on their party's behalf and how overboard the GOP went with spending on advertising it does not paint a pretty picture for the Republicans. Although rest assured the Democrats are no saints either.

What makes me depressed to see is that there are far too many citizens who have no idea what is going on in their country aside from reciting catchphrases from their favourite party and that fool Glenn Beck, that and the weak sauce mainstream media outlets which rely on pretty pictures and not reporting on properly important events, it makes me wish the U.S citizens took more interest in what was happening on their own doorstep.

They had to give me an endoscopy as well because my body was doing so badly and I guess my heart rate was through the roof. I don't know anything yet. Doctor took a lot of biopsies. I find it amusing how people in the southern and eastern parts of the country (around Oslo and Kristiansand) are unable to adjust their driving according to the weather.
I mean, the kind of weather described in this article is normal for us in the northern part, yet they manage to drive off the road anyway, driving like it's the middle of June!
And I hear many complain when the temperatures reach -15 degrees celcius, and I'm liek "so?". -15 is almost warm.
These last few days it's been closing in on -25 degrees.

I'm glad I don't got a long way to work, and that it hasn't snowed (or rained) for 3 weeks... Since I'm normally on the evening shift, which has me leaving the store at 11:15pm - at the earliest - it gets a bit rough to get home on my bike should it be more than a few centimeters of snow.

The main problem is that I don't travel on the main roads, therefore the dudes clearing the roads (and walkways) of snow don't go there first.
Several days last year, when it started snowing heavily after 10pm, teh dudes clearing the roads had barely gotten started.. So I had to ride my bike on the main road. Some cars came my way ofc, but I do have the decency of stopping so that they can pass me easily. This especially held true for Saturdays.
There was this one Saturday in particular... I had the weekend off (we're only supposed to work every other weekend), so I went to a mate's place for the evening, and he lives quite far away (takes me 30 minutes on my bike), and since the weather forecast didn't predict any downfall, I stayed there till the middle of the night sometime. But when I left, it was snowing heavily, and had been for some time. It was close to 10 centimeters of snow on the roads. Tried to use my bike, but I never got enough speed to actually move forward more than a meter at a time, so I just walked to the main road (which took me 10 minutes longer...)
The main road hadn't been cleared of snow yet, so I just started walking, guiding my bike next to me. When I got about 3/4 of the way back, a truck

drove past me, clearing the road of snow.
I immediately got on the road, hopped on my bike and started peddling.
After 3-4 minutes, a police car and several other cars came up from behind me, and even though I was wearing a reflective vest , I figured it was best to just stop completely in the side of the road till they passed me.
I don't mind the snow, nor especially the cold, as long as the roads are kept clear.

During the summer I love riding my bike, especially wearing shorts and a light t-shirt (or just the shorts), in the warm weather.
In the winter, though, I often wish I had a car...

Simply put; no.

It's a small city, according to Wikipedia, as of 2008, there were almost 18k people living here. The public transportation system anywhere in Norway (outside the major cities like Oslo, Bergen, Kristiansand and Trondheim) is a joke, basically.

I grew up in a very very small village, around 300 inhabitants. Yes, that's three HUNDRED. We had 2 buses a day, going from the city, to all the small villages at the coast. One in the morning (which serves dually as the school bus), then one in the afternoon. (As well as a school bus going between the different villages when the school ends, which anyone can take, should they need to - during school days, the bus was barely 1/4 full anyway)


Back to the city, a round trip from the central station to the majority of the living areas, then back to the central station, takes a total of 30 minutes. From 7am till about 5 pm, there's a bus leaving every 30 minutes. From that time till 11pm, there's a bus every hour. Neither of which travel particularly close to where I live, nor to where I work, the closest bus stop is a 10 minute walk from home. 5 minute walk from work. And that's taking a detour. Walking straight from home to work takes me 30 minutes, and is totally free. When I was a student, the bus fare (one way) was 20 NOK. As a normal adult, it's double that. Which means it's somewhere around 5€. So, 10€ just for the bus ride. Then comes the time consumption. From home to work: 10 minutes to the bus stop -> 5 minutes on the bus to the end stop -> 5 minute walk to work. A total of 20 minutes. This is not taking into account the bus being late. Which it often is. Especially during the winter. Back home it's the same time spent. So, 3/4 of an hour's pay to save 20 minutes a day, when I really don't have anything I really really need those 20 minutes for, is not something I'd choose willingly. On my bike the ride to work takes me 10 minutes during the summer, when it's no snow/ice on the roads. 15 if I'm taking it slow. 10 minutes less because it's a direct route, not a long detour. During the winter it usually takes me 15 minutes. Not to mention that the last bus of the day leaves 20 minutes before the earliest moment I can actually get to the bus stop...

And during the weekends!
Many people like to go to the "pubs" and nightclub we got here. But the general consensus is that no one actually goes out till midnight.
The pubs and nightclubs themselves don't actually open before 10pm, at the earliest. There's no night buses, ever, ever, ever. If people want to get around, like from home to the pubs, they have to either hail a cab, or get someone to drive them, ofc for a small fee...

No matter what other people may think, or how deluded the politicians in Oslo is, the public transportation system outside the major cities of Norway is a ****ing joke. Most people I know won't even use it until it's their last possibility.

Oh, and let's not forget the obvious health benefits I get from 30 minutes of bike riding!

Man, what a weird semi final of basketball tonight.

I play B grade mens basketball (essentially the majority of the crowd just wants to play socially, but with enough skill and gusto that the games have a solid and competitive pace) and had the pleasure to play against my coach from Under 17 and 18's rep basketball.

At the end of the first quarter, their big guy goes out with a busted wrist after he tried to leap into one of my stationary defenders, he goes down like a sack of potatoes and is hardly seen again. This made things a little tense, but there was no malice on both sides so it was okay.

Then this little wanker from starts his usual overly aggressive and violent playing style, punches and hard elbows into the ribs of guys who don't see it coming, he'll happily run at full speed into a crowd of my guys with the aim of injuring someone, in the last grand final he managed to send one of my guys off court with a severe injury. This crap has been going on for years and he never gets called on it. The little weasel.

So at the end of the third quarter I go for a rebound, contest against him and two other dudes, the other two played hard and fair defense, it was a good challenge and a lot of fun, but this little bastard got into the act and started throwing heavy elbows and fists, jumping on me and pulling some physical abuse, I had my back to him, outlet the ball to a guy just next to me, he throws the shot, I once again contest for the ball and he starts throwing those elbows again and again.

At this point I had enough and pushed back, he then retaliated by launching himself at me, I stepped to the side, grabbed him, not hard but enough to continue his momentum to the floor with a little more force than necessary. He started crying foul like a jackass as he lay there, at which point I stared him down, pointed my finger at his face like a dog and for the first time in over a decade of playing basketball let some verbal abuse fly, then walked off the court as not to escalate things further in case anyone else wanted to try to get vengeance. Gracefully no one else tried to pull any stunts and wanted to return to the game.

Amongst his winging he looked like he was going to **** his pants.

In the end he was given a technical foul and I received two free shots, missed the first one but railed the second. The crowd was shocked and congratulations were thrown my way, yet I did not want them. For the first time ever I've had to use (even though it was limited) force on the court to stop the violence.

Fortunately both teams backed off afterwards and the referees did a good job controlling the situation. He tried once more to have a go at me but he was nothing to brush off, after that he was too scared to come near me or anyone else in the team by playing violently.

It put a dampener on the rest of the game, but at least the bs had finally stopped after years of it going on, although I expect it to continue again next year, if it was anyone else he would have continued his triad style of playing. Fortunately my good reputation at the stadium amongst other players and staff meant the situation was dealt with properly. I just wish it never had to come to that in the first place, I mean it is casual basketball games, not as if we get paid to play.

I've always made it my first priority after the final buzzer goes off to congratulate the competition on their performance, no matter how great or poorly they played, unsurprisingly no one wanted to shake his grubby hand, although I made the effort to mention I have no hard feelings towards him. Like a true jackass he thought he was the victim and that he was just retaliating to my play. Pfft, he got caught out once and for all and will now deal with the consequences by the organisation.

Hopefully the final next week will be a corker of a game.

Sometimes, when it comes down to it, some kind of actions must be taken, and in your case, you did nothing more than a few (well, maybe some or more) swearing and a finger in front of his mug. And that was proven effective without further damage, no?
