You mean Benazier Bhuto, GF? I thought she was somewhat one of the successful female leaders. Her being assassinated made her a martyr. I am surprised you feel that way toward her.
The shear magnitude of crime which she did to the country is unpublishable even by death. She just has too many people who lick her @$$ in the West so she's portrayed as a hero to the world. She was little more then a parasite who siphoned all the hard-earned wealth of the people into her own pocket. Kudos to the who ever sent her to the graveyard once and for all, must be enjoying having cookies in hell with her father who turned the country from one making rapid development to a failed state in 5 years.

Maybe she was being played ? or maybe the system was just to corrupt for even a prime minister to do something ? I'm saying this cause we have one in a similar position here trying to do good but the system is so corrupt its almost impossible.... also usually the good people get assassinated not the bad ones at least in politics, i'm not talking about drug lords or smugglers etc :P...

hah i remember when she was on some news show over here in the US and yeah, she SEEMED like a good person and they were making her out to be one IIRC. Its funny how horribly bad the media is here. I have to be 100% conscious when i listen to what they say, otherwise they will start brainwashing me :P

Nope, it was her father who corrupted the system in the first place, nationalized everything so all the investors ran away, destroyed public education, literally severed the country into 2 pieces (what is now Bangladesh used to be East Pakistan....not anymore, all cuz of him). Her daughter openly claimed to follow in his footsteps and did so too. She had a 40 million pound palace in Surrey, England, she wore diamond-studded spectacles, and had expensive properties all over the world, not to mention hundreds of millions of dollars worth of cash in Swiss bank accounts, ALL of this came from the tax money of working people. Here, people are literally dying of starvation and then there's her and her husband who enjoy lives of immense luxury (and I'm not saying this stuff out of my ass, go search on Google if you want, there's scans of official documents of their assets).
If there's anyone who really tried to, and practically did good things to this country it was him (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayub_Khan) and him (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zia-ul-Haq). And what's ironic is that these two are the most bad-mouthed leaders purely because they're military men and because the latter was also responsible for the execution of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto i.e. Benzair's father.

Men like to use their power and show dominance. Women like to show others they have power.
ie, women leaders tend to try and show they're good leaders rather than ignoring others judgement and doing what's needed

We've had a female prime minister twice, WORST leader EVER (not that her father and her husband who's currently in office is any better). I felt like holding a party the day she was assassinated, too bad all of her d***head supporters were out on the street on a robbing/burning fest.
We all have had BAD governants regardless of their sex genre. It's politics for god's sake, you don't succed in them without the proper skills, period.
Right now we have a famel governor in my city which I happen to detest as a person (I know her personally from some bussiness years ago) but I gotta recognize the work she is doing. She has more pants than most men I know and can easily control the city.
That's what we all need. Leaders. Leader material exist regardless of the genre.
This may sound silly, but could you guys recommend me a nice romantic/ or intimate restaurant that I could suggest a couple to? If you can't name a specific restaurant, just please tell me the kind of atmosphere and food items you think would be at a restaurant that you would go to for a nice date? I need a male's point of view so feedback from you guys would be very much appreciated.
I will tell you but you gottahave in mind I'm a little girlish, i.e. I love romantic movies.
What I love the most is a place where I can talk, hear the woman talking, sharing. That way I can look at her eyes. So even a small corner in a Starbucks with jazz music at low volumen, dim lights and few people can work.
I prefer Italian, some pasta maybe, it doesn't fail.

I was thinking about suggesting a nice Italian place but those always seem like the first choice someone would have to take a person on a romantic date to. Don't get me wrong, I freaking love Italian but I had another idea, which is a nice sushi place or tepanyaki. Sushi would be a bit more private. Tepanyaki is more about having fun and entertainment to be shared with strangers. So it's a toss up.

I'd go for Sushi instead of Tepanyaki. That way the couple can feel it's about them. After some private encounters then Tepanyaki and fun shared with strangers can be a way to do entertaining things after having enjoyed some fun together.
Btw, people who go out this weekend: don't forget to take a camera with you and post pictures in the corresponding thread. It's not how you look but how much fun you have.

Relevant to the topic of perception from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perception)
The processes of perception routinely alter what humans see. When people view something with a preconceived concept about it, they tend to take those concepts and see them whether or not they are there. This problem stems from the fact that humans are unable to understand new information, without the inherent bias of their previous knowledge. A person’s knowledge creates his or her reality as much as the truth, because the human mind can only contemplate that to which it has been exposed. When objects are viewed without understanding, the mind will try to reach for something that it already recognizes, in order to process what it is viewing. That which most closely relates to the unfamiliar from our past experiences, makes up what we see when we look at things that we don’t comprehend.

It is correct outside the bounds of physics.
A cheerful man will live in a cheerful world. His bodily subcommunication brought on by his happy state will influence others into being more friendly and perceptive. His smile and free voice pitch will have people respond to him in a light hearted disposition. Re-inforcing his happy mind.
An angry-aggressive man will live in an angry world, where his aggressive or intentive demenour will turn people and circumstance against him. His snappy tone of speech will cause people to scowl and feed his anger.
Victim identities will seek reasons to justify their feelings and end up short changed. They'll act helpless and people will respond with ignorance or kindness to his victimised frame, whilst they judge his social status as both the ambivelant lowest and highest in all interaction with no command of power.
A racist will see racial injustice, a dreamer will see potential.
What would a happy optimist with an infernal amount of anger see?
Anger is intent and power is the ability to act.
Power is used only with intent.
Answering this question will give you infinite motivation.

True, objective world will always be the objective world, whatever what the subject think of it. I was referring to the subjective world experienced by the subject himself. Kaizen's post rings true for that. A preconceived notion is something that is most likely not to change no matter what the subject experiences, even as there are evidences laid upon him/ herself.
Cognitive dissonance will likely to occur, whereas when the objective reality is evident what one usually do is to change his/ her perceived nature of the object instead of changing his/ her own way of perceiving things, thus still keeping his/ her way of how he/ she sees and give meanings to reality. How one perceives the world is not the same as how the world is.
An extreme example story: A delusional (a term which we usually use to identify such symptoms) patient in a mental institution was convinced that a bee was living and buzzing in his abdomen. A therapist trying to alter the delusional thought put a dead bee into the man's feces and said that the bee was dead and was out of the abdomen. For a while the man looked as if he overcame the obsessive thought. The next day, he came to the therapist and said that the one bee was out, but it had already laid eggs before, and that there were more bees in his stomach.

I stated my objection pretty clearly "A person’s knowledge creates his or her reality as much as the truth". You can't "create your reality", you can't make yourself fly.
And even negative people with low self-esteem issues can achieve some pretty neat things in life.
External reality trumps everything.
Kaizen actually implied that being a "cheerful person" will improve your odds in life. And the Wikipedia quote says that "personal knowledge creates reality". I'm sorry, but that's just BS used to sell self-help books.
Your subject experience cannot alter objective reality. That's all I'm arguing for.

Reality says you cannot fly by swinging your arms. You said Perseverance+Attitude>reality, therefore your formula is wrong. You should be adding "logic" to the left side, in which case the entire formula is useless.
Since logic is something the person comes up with, and if they deem an outcome to be illogical (where it may very well be logical for someone else), their perseverance and attitude will reflect it. Thus, perseverance and attitude equal logic. So, ignoring the potential squaring of logic, you have logic > reality, and since logic is based on reality, logic = reality. Done. I have no idea what I proved that for, but there ya go. That's what happens when I'm bored.

Me and my friend (who is a certified mechanic, and I'm working towards getting certified) were talking about opening up a car repair shop. There is a garage for rent in my area for $1500 a month and includes all the tools and such. While the rent is reasonable, I wonder how high the insurance for such a business is.
Our plan is basically to entirely undercut the competition, to the point where, after expenses, we are only earning a small profit. And of course, good service. Build a customer base, let word of mouth be our advertising. Then slowly raise prices to a point where profit margins are higher - but still maintain prices lower than the competition.
I'm really liking the idea of being a partial owner of my own business, and since tools and such are included with rent, the risk of a large loss in case of failure is low, but the thought still makes me nervous.
Now to start reading.

Yeah. And prices for car repair are extremely high - around here it's as much as 80-90 dollars an hour.
An idea me and my friend had would be set prices for most common auto repairs - so customers don't have to worry about us cheating them by taking our time only to earn more money. Though I'm not quite sure how viable this is. Other ideas we've thought of is something like "We get your car done on by the time we quoted, or it's 10% off!" or something like that. Still not sure on the viability of these. Have to run some calculations. Objective world can be altered, by means of the subject's phenomenological space. True, that we as the observer of what we call reality, one cannot fly (though how we see it as a reality itself gives different meanings to each of us). But for the one who does jump and plummets into the ground (as we see it), if s/he believes that s/he can fly, than it would be called flight, no matter how short it was.

Crap like "perseverance+attitude>reality" can only be found in self-help books and webpages about psychic powers.

You know I hear a lot of people complaining about games being all about graphics today, and have horrible story lines. I don't disagree with this really, but story lines are overrated too!
Some of the most fun games I've ever played didn't have much of a story line. Yoshi's Island - you bring little mario to his home and fight some bad guys along the way. The whole story line right there - but it is fun despite the lack of story line and by today's standards, lame graphics.
What ever happened to games that are just fun? They didn't need $5 million in story line development nor graphics development.
I've come to realization that there are very few "fun" games nowadays. Don't even say the Wii because they're ran the Nintendo game franchises into the ground. And most of the other games are just uncreative mass market bull****.
The only game I've played recently that was truly just fun (albeit a tad too easy) was Crayon Physics. The Story Line? Get the ball where it needs to go. Simple. Fun. If I wanted a complex story line, I'd read a book or watch a movie.

a '88? $2600 isn't a bad selling price for that at all, at least compared to my area. Around here, unless it's some kind of special car, you won't see an 80s model go for over 8 or 9 hundred dollars.

I saw that movie at 10:00 pm on an october 31st. It was the premiere and when I walked out of the cinema it was raining and you couldn't see the moon or stars, just plain clouds and rain. Really spooky.
My friend invited me to stay at her house because she was afraid. I was in the bedroom and when she went to the bath I moved to the corridor next to the bathroom. So when she returned I started walking behind her and did that gutural sound the monster from that movie does and she screamed right at my ears :D

Paranormal Activity 2 Trailer Pulled From Texas Theaters
Twihards breathlessly awaiting their shirtless werewolves and tousled vampire hair in Eclipse are apparently not taking too kindly to an appetizer of disappearing babies. Cinemark is pulling the trailer for Paramount’s Paranormal Activity 2 from several Texas theaters after “numerous complaints” that the 72-second trailer was too scary, and threatened that it may remove the clip from additional theaters this weekend. This is probably the best news Paramount could have hoped for.

I wasn't sure either a few years back but I have now bought both the 'wired controller for windows' and the xbox 360 specific one.
The windows version is more expensive in a game shop but both are actually identical in every way with the exception of a driver disk. Drivers update when you plug it in though and both vista and win7 have the 360 pad driver preinstalled

Even if you have no problems you sure hell can find better controllers than the s**tbox one, the design of that thing is... Bah! I mean, have you tried other controllers?
And no, I'm not going to say "GF, get a PS3 controller" as that thing doesn't work perfectly on PC(at least mine doesn't) either. Simply get a controller made for PC only... Or if it's simply driving, why not get a wheel while you're at it?
When using pad on PC I use Logitech Chillstream(PS3 version, as it's also my second controller for PS3) but I wouldn't recommend that, it somehow has some problems when pressing multiple buttons at once and some lag(noticed the lag when playing Soul Calibur 4, not funny...). The authentic PS3 controller worked somewhat well, but connecting it was sometimes a pain, as it sometimes decided to connect and sometimes just didn't... And it needs a program to connect at all, it's freebie though.

At first I tought you said "1st person games" and I was ready to take emergancy measures with a nailbat.
[dead serious mode]Anyone who says a pad, any PAD, works better in FPS than mouse/keyboard is in danger.[/dead serious mode]
But on third person games(and altogether) I've always felt that the s**tbox controller was kinda "fat" and I think some of the buttons are just in stupid places, especially those black and white buttons... And I'm one of those people who feel that the analog sticks are better in the middle as in Playstation controller. Could be that I'm used to that but still. And okay, the triggers are a little slippery in PS controllers but I've never seen that as a big problem. Plus they sell the trigger parts that fix the problem.
And yes, as it happens my friend has "modified" s**tbox, 360 and PS2 and we've been playing 2-player games quite a lot at his place... So I have used the s**tbox controller. He actually uses PS2 controller with an adaptor as he also thinks it's better. And I have to use the real s**tbox controller... That bastard. Anyone wondering, I don't have many 2-player games so we're playing at his place.

I got a classmate who has a 360(who doesn't ?) and he keeps boasting about its amazing grip and the feel it has in your hands. Many classmates of mine disagree, because it is either too big or too heavy. I think it makes me play slower because my thumbs need to move longer to reach a button. I have to strech my left thumb alot to reach the d-pad. Too much spacing imo.
But that doesn't stop people from liking it i suppose. All i want in a controller is 4 shoulder buttons, 4-6 face buttons, a good d-pad that is not hard to reach and 2 good analog sticks that can be pushed. And start and select ofcourse. And the size ? DualShock2 is a good size :)

I got one of those 80s type stereo systems. You know, the ones with the big old HiFi Floor Speakers, that to me somehow sound better than any "high-end" speakers you can find today. Each speaker is 20 Watt RMS, and they are loud as hell for 40 watt and sound amazing even at high volume.
Unfortunately, the stereo itself doesn't have any external input jack, so I need to find some 40-watt amplifier (or something in that general range) to power them. Something simple with just RCA or preferably 3.5mm in, and speaker out. Maybe I can find some old tube amplifier that adds that awesome warmness to the music.

It's copy protection but not just the simple CD or serial check of old it's really invasive stuff these days like forcing you to be online even for single player, limited number of installs, being tied to a service like Steam or Live! and stuff that can even totally wreck your system (and does if outdated) like Securom and StarForce,

How does Digital rights management affect PC gaming, I don't understand it. I've read some people complaining about it but it's not clear to me as to why they are complaining. Can anyone shed some light here.
Let's take an example.
Grand theft Auto 4. I use this example since I just installed it today.
How long did it take to install?
1 hour 20 minutes, why? Rockstar social club, games for windows live, forced patch 1.4, issue with dvd checking.
DRM is done in a variety of ways, one is to vary the data stream density of the dvd and code a checksum to verify the chunks. This DESTROYS THE HELL out of your DVD drive.
Another way is forced connection checking which uploads personal data to game servers including every program installed on your pc. Rapelay users unite!
Another DRM method is to foce online key checking at install. When you want to play a classic game in the future, you better crack because that burnout/macguffin game verification server wont be up and running.
More DRM is limited installs, Bioshock had 3. I had an nvidia chipset motherboard which corrupted hard disk data (****ing yalday to that mother****ing nsuckia)
3 installs later, in the space of 1 month. I had no bioshock.
so to sum up, DRM is an invasion of privacy, uses techniques that damage your data and use insideous malware methods of install (that prevent uninstallation), uses verification methods that render your game useless in a few years, uses keys that aren't always included, requires an internet connection always to verify.
If you buy DRM, you rent a product. I can boot up an atari 2600 game as intended but have to CRACK pc games I OWN from the 90's
ozzgx4
July 7th, 2010, 16:05
Damn, then why the heck hasn't DRM been banned/stooped if it's this bad? I mean this in a way is stopping users from buying the games. I certainly wouldn't want to buy a game if it has DRM.

Same reason every DVD that you legally BUY has this "pirating is stealing" message..
To annoy the hell outta the consumers...
Kazuya
July 7th, 2010, 17:35
Indeed, it's funny how a pirated movie doesn't have that ad so no pirate will take notice.
The only ones who will watch them are the legitimate consumers. The ads are designed to make them feel bad instead of praise them for consuming an original product.
If only the legitimate buyer is watching the ad, why the hell they make him feel ashamed when he has't pirated anything in the first place instead of happy because they did the good thing?
ElijahTW
July 7th, 2010, 17:38
Yet if you illegally download the game, it's much less of a DRM in the ass.
Ironic, no?

Yesterday, I was thinking the same of Eli. He's good with his cash, fixes his own assets like cars and computers, saves regularly, has great personal responsibility and worked for his own stuff when he was younger

It's akin to this:
People who are fit and healthy don't eat burgers from mcdonalds regularly
I don't go out blowing money all the time, I'm cheap at best.
At one time, I spent every piece of credit available to me. Spending thousands on guitars and games and pc parts but what happened?
I had to sell them all to pay my rent at very unfair prices. Amazing, rare, wonderful things, all sold for measly sums of cash. Pride then a fall. That is why, to this day I have 1 guitar, a £80 strat copy I modded when I was 16, clothes that are 6 years old or more and take the bus. I buy no razors or deodorant, highlights, make-up or any other amenities like massages or manicures.

Yet you speak of gambling? Cheap people don't do that.
Broken cars and broken graphics cards aren't quite the same thing. You can't just head over the local mechanic and order a replacement part for a graphics card like you can for a car. What Eli does is essentially restoration, he sees potential and fixes it. He doesn't gamble on possibly lost causes whereas with a graphics card if it's broken it's unlikely anyone who's not involved in their development can restore them so the chance you're throwing money away there is pretty high. Not to mention you don't need the cards and they depreciate way faster than cars do so even if you do fix em it's not like selling them will be a huge winfall whereas Eli's returns are generally pretty good.

What are you gonna do on those days? just spend the whole day in the shower?
And on that point, does the cost of the deo outweigh the cost of frequent washing (water charges, electricity for the Gieser (so you can have warm water), time lost, soap and other materials used)?

bank in/ bank out
I buy 4 cards for the price of 1, 3 work and are resold for 60% of 1 card . Card 4 is also sold for buttons
All the stuff I buy is simple software issues or points to it. ATI cards are really common to cold boot black, it's a motherboard thing. There's also a very common issue of ATI always going black when windows starts, driver issue.
Buy a bunch of these cards and you're quite safe.
GPU's haven't depreciated in a while btw. Even years ago when I bought my 9600gt from novatech, I sold it on ebay for more than purchase price.
A second hand gtx 285 will set you back about £180 on a good day, new ones still sell for £250 plus. (you can buy a 5850 for that)
The 280 was £180 new at EOL
Cars are depreciating like bricks in water, the current economy with the prices of cars = less people buying
people are kinda stupid btw, most faulty items have no physical issue and just need some tlc or a bios reflash
There's also a damn hot day where the second you get out of the shower you start sweating again.

I used to buy deodorant that was about £7.50 a tin, aftershave that was £200 a bottle.
On hot days, there's talcum powder and body wipes. Sweaty smell is caused by bacteria and not the moisture. If you use antibacterial hand solution on your pits in the morning, the multiplying time for bacteria is drastically reduced. Sure, you'll sweat a lot but it'll be a good 6-8 hours before anything even faintly becomes noticeable.
There's always £0.50 roll on antiperspirant where a stick lasts 2 months. No point buying £4 lynx (axe to americans) or £7 G.E at the consumption of 2-3 tins a week when no one is going to come up and criticize you for not smelling like a product

I allow myself to have one or two big expensive purchases a year... nothing that takes up too much of my bank balance though.
I already had $15k in my bank account, and because I got a scholarship to college, the $40k my uncle had saved for me for college was no longer needed for college, so he let me have that to do whatever I want with it. 3/4 of that will be saved, or applied to some sort of investment. I used to buy deodorant that was about £7.50 a tin, aftershave that was £200 a bottle.
200 on aftershave? I don't think I could spend that much money on aftershave even if I wanted to, even the most exclusive and expensive stuff around here goes for what when converted back ends up about 40 of your pounds, that stuff must have been laced with platinum.

At most I'd spend $43.99 on a Star Trek cologne (http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Tiberius-Cologne/dp/B002HMQS14/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1278709706&sr=1-1). You see, it has Kirk on the cover ;)

I like rumors.
Apparently me and my girlfriend have had sex in a cold storage at our workplace.

Take it to the next step and make it true.
Soon the rumor will be modified to involve cold cuts and waffles.

Is it a meat storage place? Sticking your meat in, what is essentially a 100-something pound wad of meat in human form, surrounded by meat.

This generates viewer empathy toward both protagonist groups. Creating needy and giver sides makes for a typical excuse for romance relationships.
Youll understand when youre sickly, needing blood, and a virgin maiden gets compassionate enough with you to gives you free access to her reserve, as long as you make her imagine she was cared about.

Any girl offering free blood in exchange for companionship is not just an idiot, she is probably a whore.

Cuz they're trying to copy anime and are failing miserably at it...which is par for the course for hollywood (or any sort of Live Action).

Blame it on those tweens who think they understand love, and that Twilight is just the epitome of love. And also those divorced 30-year olds who lost touch with reality and believe that just maybe there's a guy out there who needs them to realize his potential. They're infatuated with an idea of love and sex that doesn't map to reality. At all.
Now we have to suffer through this endless parade of movies about pale guys who never wash their hair and his idiotic girlfriend.
EDIT: And here are 8 Things Twilight Has Ruined (Besides Vampires) (http://www.uproxx.com/feature/2010/06/8-things-twilight-has-ruined-besides-vampires/).

Now that's because those world-class economic super-aristocrats who run the world's economy want it this way. If only they'd let the teens alone :D

Never gonna give life up, never gonna let anyone down..
Btw, never cared for Twilight nor will I watch it. It's seems like Vampires are all the craze nowadays:
- Twilight
- The Vampire Diaries
- True Blood
- The Gates
And many more possibly.

Vampire shows need more brutal killing and less 3 way romance stories.
