View Full Version : 3D Graphics Issues

I seem to be having problems with running games that have 3D graphics. To be excat, the games run fine, but the graphic don't.

Mostly I have issues with Princess Debut, which works fine for other people. It may be software or preferences problem, but I have no idea how to check for it, or fix it.

All I know about the graphic is that it's something called OpenGL (whatever it is), with all sort of options I have no clue about (I tried messing around with them, but no cigar.)

So, err, any ideas? (haha, ideas! Ideas/IdeaS! Got it? Sorry, ignore that ><)

What graphics card do you have?

I would say your graphics card (or lack thereof) does not support the OpenGL extensions this game requires and if that's the case then there is nothing that can be done.

NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT

Are you telling me I can play games with crazy spesification like the Sims 2 and Black & White, but I can't play some random Nintendo DS game with crummy, 1998-style 3D graphic? That's sorta messed up 00

Probably is a problem with drivers. I suggest you to upgrade your driver. If you don't know how to do, ask! ;)

Yes, because whilst the graphics of the DS may be limited (they are far from crappy when it comes to handhelds) the technology is entirely different and for your PC to pretend to be that technolocy it needs over 10 times the power of the DS. Think of it this way (although it's far more complicated as the technologies are completely different) it's not just running what seems to be an old game, it's as if you ran a virtual machine for say Windows 95 and then the old game on top of that.

However I was guessing you had onboard graphics which are severly limited in what they can do and what they support (for instance they may not have all the commands available to them that a regular graphics card has and therefore may not be able to show everything as a regular graphics card would), so you can disregard the above paragraph, or rather simply take it as a lesson. Now that I know that you have a propper graphics card my guess is the same as DottorLeo[ITA] and it's that your drivers are not up to date.

Hmm, I had no idea it was this complicated. Well, I never had the brains to understand technology. Thanks for the info anyway.

Sadly, even though I updated my drivers (or so it seems... The installer had some issues, but eventually reported to have completed successfully) and reboot my PC, the graphic had changed none whatsoever. Still not working on no$gba (which it was supposed to do), and buggy in ideaS.
Any other suggestions?

Try DeSmuME, version 0.9 is in an entirely different league from it's earlier versions and the just released 0.9.1 is even better.

Also how exactly does it not work in no$gba? crashes? does not start? does not display correctly?

In no$gba the upper screen just goes black whenever 3D graphic are supposed to be presented. The game still runs, but there's nothing in the upper screen.
That only applies to the 3D parts, of course, it works fine the rest of the time.

Also, the new IdeaS version has doe'snt work either. The graphic bugs are a bit different, but still, it does not show the 3D parts properly.
