Lino has also released few hours ago a new version for Linux: the changelog is the same but there are some extras like the Video Memory Accesses violation fix, that crash IdeaS on Castelvania: Dawn Of Sorrow when you open the menu with start. You can grab it here (http://www.ideasemu.org/index.php?act=downloads)
The emulation is far from perfection so we need your feedback! :thumb:
Post here or in the appropriate forum (http://www.ideasemu.org/forum/index.php) of IdeaS your suggestion or if you find a certain bug.
Thank You!

Thanks but I will skip it because I don't see any great improvements anyway. I will wait for 1.0.3.0 :)

Let's wait for another version from Lino. I bet it's not his final step at iDeaS.

Well one bug I can tell you instantly is that GRID's collision detection is still not emulated (plus the game has other graphical bugs and suffers from the bad iDeaS audio like every other game does which is at the moment probably the biggest thing holding it back as it has by far the worst audio (well NeonDS has no audio) out of the DS emus).

Unfortunately also another racing game has this problem (V8 SuperCars Australia 3), maybe it's a coordinate problem. I hope that Lino take care of it.

Well I don't know how to explain it in programming terms, but the emu can't emulate the road, it can emulate the graphics for it, but it can't emulate the collision, in other words it can't tell the game that's the car can't go through the road.
Anyways the main things that need to be looked at are the giant memory usage (like 4x + as much as no$gba or DeSmuME) and the audio. Once those things improve then more people may use it and thus more feedback can be attained. In fact by concentrating on fixing audio problems Lino might even find and eliminate performance hindering conflicts and kills 2 birds with one stone.

I tested some games. Here's response:
Trackmania DS: Something wrong with road. I think it is error that Schumi posted before.
But goes full speed.
New Super Mario Bros.: Fully Playable, almost full speed
Mario Party DS: Playable, almost full speed
Assassin's Creed:Altair's Chronicles: Fully playable, some graphical errors, nice speed
Contra 4: Fully playable, some graphical errors, almost full speed
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games: Playable, graphical errors are here, very slow
Super Mario 64 DS: Fully playable, some graphical errors, almost full speed
Mario Kart DS: Fully Playable, some graphical errors, almost full speed
Prince of Persia: Fallen King: Fully Playable, almost full speed
And Lino must do something with sound!

New Super Mario Bros -- some graphical errors ?? You should go some further ahead because in the later levels.. like I had tried on no$gba and I found some graphical errors. I wonder about this one. :)

I don't have time to play the entire game. I have something else to do not only playing games.

If you don't have the time to play the whole game. You shouldn't post that the game is fully playable. Fully playable means the game can be played from beginning until the end, So If you didn't play the whole game, you don't know about being fully playable :)

Well when I see that game don't lag i can say that it is fully playable. Well, anyways, you can correct me.

I can correct you. Some games don't lag and play some further later in the levels and you got stuck somewhere so it can be unplayable too. If the game don't lag doesnt mean it is fully playable. really.

Any game I try I keep having problems with the sound. It goes really slow and I think it's affecting the gameplay as well is this supposed to happen or am I doing something wrong?

Yeah, there's known problems with sound in iDeaS. It's major iDeaS problem that should be fixed.

Hi there!
I really like the iDeaS emu. It has a nice interface, good menus and you can zoom (I haven't found out how to do this with the No$ Emu ...). Very good work :thumb:
But I'd like to know something: Are there any official System Requirements? 'Cause my iDeaS is running at 45-60 fps (which is quiet good, right?) but it's lagging like ****.

The more CPU power the better, that's all there is to it.

iDeaS in not completed emulator: there are always updates from Lino. You can see any improvements (but not in this version) in every new version.

Well, the sound is still so broken. :(
And, in NSMB, the items that should be transparent were black, now they're even blacker.
About the CPU speed increase, it's strange: it makes the games slower but makes the sound hearable (because when iDeaS runs at less than 60 FPS, the sound becomes completely garbled).
This is a bug report. Don't take it as complaining.
But apart from these flaws iDeaS is really promising !! :)
The fixes Lino applies to his emu may not seem to improve anything for you, but I'm quite sure that it does improve things internally.

Today Lino has released the experimental ALSA plugin for linux. If someone of you use Linux and can test it, any feedback on official forum will be appreciated! :thumb:
P.s. Lino has also updated the forum to the phpBB3. ;)
