Whoah Schumi.

You got games to last years.

Congrats. hope you enjoy them.

lol thats a lot of games.

Indeed. And what makes the amount worse is that I DID NOT buy: Skyrim, Drakensang - At the River of Time, Sims Medieval, DeusEx3, Batman - Arkham City, NFS - The Run (still not sure about this...but it looks too gorgeous to pass up despite any crap it may give me), Assassin's Creed - Bortherhood and Revelations, Saints Row 3, The First Templar, Arcania Gothic 4, Fable 3, Witcher 2, Crysis 2, Airline Tycoon 2 (yes I know this one kinda sticks out in the list but I had a lot of fun with the first one...though admittedly I was a lot younger back then), Two Worlds 2 (couldn't track it down) One of the newer PESs, One of the newer FIFAs and then once they release next year Kingdoms of Amalur and ME3. So my list is still impossibly long despite the dent I made in it today. And on top of that I'm probably still forgetting some titles.

Ah, so you decided to give Mafia II a try? Let me know what you end up thinking of it (and perhaps of L.A. Noire, both overall and compared to it to give me a point of reference of something I've tried). It was a bit heavy of some type of content I didn't care for, but that setting/mood/feel/city/detail/story... pretty good stuff. It has the low texture and odd rendering/aliasing affairs of many console centric games, but that aside, it was still rather good looking, if nothing too special. I played with PhysX off, by the way (most of my time was done on my GeForce 8800 GT though so who knows now and if it'll work for you; I just know it does some of the PhysX on the CPU unless you have a dedicated PhysX card).I take it it'd be a bad time to mention the current state of HDD prices?

Well yes and no. I got it but it's likely still going to be a loooong time till I give it a try because of that aforementioned HDD space problem. So I'm afraid I won't be able to tell you much for quite a while.
L.A. Noir is already installed though but my results may be inaccurate cuz I'll only be running medium and possibly a mix of low by the looks of things (my GTX260 is really starting to feel it's age fast now). That said I'm 99.999999% certain I'll recommend it. It just ooozes class, I mean half the manual is just credits...I've never seen a credits list that long. I'm definitely biased for this title based on premise alone nevermind playing it. If it's half as good as I hope it is it'll still be one of the best games I ever played and a total dream come true. They basically can't ruin it for me unless it runs at 5FPS or is only and hour long or if it makes my PC explode.

Does the Test Drive Unlimited 2 *retail* have the three limit install as does the Steam version? I don't know if you can get activations back on the Steam version, hence I'm deciding when I'll install it, but I figure if I get a playthrough or at least 5 hours of racing it will be worth the $5 I paid for it on Steam.

I got the Witcher on Steam, Direct 2 Drive, and Good ole Games, in the long run I paid $20 for all 3 versions. I figured Good ole Games was DRM free, so that's why I bought it there. Actually I think I paid $15, $5 each version.

I love Split Second, I'm about 2/3 of the way through the game.

I'll eventually get Super Street Fighter IV for the PC, I dunno if I will retail or Steam.

Indeed. Though that's not my only problem. 4 SATA ports are they're all used up. Though my one DVD Writer is dying so I guess I could use that slot.

The ideal situation would be to get a new 1TB or bigger HDD and either start affresh or get someone to ghost everything across (not sure how the OS would respond to that). But that just makes the situation even pricier.

Anyways I was able to clear up enough space to at least install TDU2, L.A. Noire, The Witcher and SSF4-AE. Kind of sad that just those games swallowed over 50GB space just by themselves. And what's worse is the two GTAs, Mafia 2 and Split/Second will eat up another 50GB, though I'm not going to bother with for now, my plate is pretty packed as it is.

That's why I think it will be a while before digital will take over, there are several people in the world with caps on their bandwidth and 25 GB games will eat those caps, let alone forced patches, mods, and DLC.

I can't imagine that working much better for the next consoles either.

Not sure. It's the Superhits version so it's not exactly informative so I didn't even know there was that chance which sucks especially cuz the game automatically launched itself after install and tried to launch an update so I couldn't even crack it to try and prevent a Activation being used (they're only used the first time you use the legit launcher, if you crack before launching then you're generally safe). I'll like crack it and back it up to DVD when I want to install it now that you mentioned this. Rather safe than sorry.

Patch 1.5 makes all The Witcher - Enhanced Editions DRM free.

Not sure I'll like Split/Second as much...the idea of an opponent triggering destruction of the actual track messes with my want for pure racing a little too much, but it was cheap and it has 2-player so I had to get it...and the Demo didn't leave me with too bad a taste in my mouth.

I had to get SSF4-AE now...after missing my opportunity to get the first there was no way I was gonna let this slip through my hands. Well Steam...but that's not an option for me, retail you gotta buy or you kiss your chance to get the game goodbye. It's not just a matter of waiting for price drops for me but also trying to work out whether the next time I go (I go every 2 months or so) the game will still be there and whether there's any likelyhood it's drop any further in price before it vanishes.

First of congrats. Now to some gossip, that's why still having two dvd drives on IDE ain't a bad deal :P, i got 4 sata ports free (6 in total 2 are ocupied by the two seagate drives an 120 gb one and a 500gb one). The Witcher is a fantastic game to bad its rather incompatible with my style and i couldn't get into it.

Sims MedievalWhy? I thought you didn't like those games. It's essentially The Sims 3 with the free mode taken out and replaced with an adventure mode or something in a themed (medieval) world (or something like that; it's been a while since I read reviews)? I might grab it one day when it's on sale just because, but I don't proactively want it.

One of the reasons I'm (and seemingly, you are) interested in L.A. Noire is because of what I liked from Mafia II. Like you mentioned about the class of L.A. Noire, this one is the same; having the mood/setting/feel all there.
Indeed. Though that's not my only problem. 4 SATA ports are they're all used up. Though my one DVD Writer is dying so I guess I could use that slot. Why two optical drives? Unless it's a DVD writer and a Blu-ray drive you got earlier (which is why many older PCs had two; one was a CD drive and another was a DVD drive until they combined them), then why two? Maybe it's my ignorance showing, but unless you're like some super heavy burner or something, I never saw the point.

As it is, I hardly use my lone optical drive (though it sees enough use to stay in, also since it also serves the role of keeping my PSU cables hidden). Mine is used for OS installs, a few game installs, and the rare miscellaneous use.

As for SATA ports, I have six, and four are used with disk drives, and one for an optical drive. That leaves one spot left for anything, not counting my IDE channel which I refuse to use as A) PATA is dying; recently chipsets/boards are dropping support for it and don't have them, and B) I have no PATA drives anymore. Luckily, the ASUS P8Z68 V Pro (essentially the same as the normal version with two extra SATA ports) is like only $2 more expensive than the normal version I was originally looking at, so I've decided to look that way as I could use eight of them down the line if I add more disk drives (either SSD(s) or HDD(s)).

Well yes, but I'm intrigued since it seems more goal orientated and slightly less sandbox than your usual Sims. That and medieval life is something I don't do every day unlike real life which I do do pretty much every day and is thud boring.

Ok I will, but that still only makes it the 5th most interesting game in the list, well I guess 4th since SSF4-AE is less of a game and more of a distraction but I need to find the HDD space for it first.

Because they're from different brands. Especially when it comes to damage recovery it pays to have two different DVD drives since I've often come across a situation where a disc ceased existing in one drive yet was perfectly readable in the other and then later another disc where they swapped roles.

For instance my friend's BenQ drive can only read about 50% of the discs one puts in it...but it's not broken, so usually he has to use his LG...but the one time that didn't want to read the disc the BenQ read it perfectly.

May not matter so much to the average person but I've got over a terabyte of Anime and stuff I personally recorded with my TV card on DVDs so it's very important for me to not run into issues where it's just a drive incompatibility problem and not the disc or drive being busted.

Though I can tell the HP is going because it fails even on legit game discs and sometimes requires 2-3 attempts to acknowledge there's actually a disc in the drive.

And DVD drives. Pretty much any one you get these days is SATA. So yeah 8 is definitely the way to go if the premium isn't much.

Indeed, though mines are the same brand (and luckily IDE), but one (strangely enough the older one), has a very good ability of reading damaged disks and i also use it to burn my most important disks, the other one i use it on a daily basis, so that i don't stress out the good one.

Ah, I guess that might warrant it. I never came across that issue. All of my few discs (Windows, a few games, some DVDs) work fine, and I don't ever (or literally next to never) burn anything or even deal with burned discs. If it installs the OS, maybe the occasional game or miscellaneous DVD for watching or whatever, that's all I need from it. I didn't know people were still using two these days. I thought that was just done from before DVD and CD-Rom drives were combined, or for the few who actually have some sort of heavy need for it (which I guess you two sort of fall under).

I bought this today and I'm still trying to figure out why. This thing is geared towards kids, the mouse is tiny and the pad is pretty ordinary, BUT, it's a special edition thing and when they be cheap I can hardly pass them up. Plus I wanted to try old school sonic on my PC without using an emulator, basically to see how it stacks up.

I had a feeling it would be something like that.

Picked these up recently, God of War like the rest of the PSP library is now at $15 or something which is pretty neat, but what I had to get was Mario Kart 7, hearing that there are 16 tracks done by Retro Studios sold it on me, and the fact there are 16 completely new tracks is just gravy. Can't wait for HERE WE GO HERE WE GO HEHEHEHEHEHHEREWEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEREWEGO UAHAHAHAH!

Actually Sonic Adventure DX was pretty badass on the PC (wish they'd have released a SA2 DX too) and SH was fun in its own right. Both ports played, to my taste, better on the PC than their console counterparts~.

Samor

SADX on PC is probably the best version of the game.

On modern pc's running Vista or Win7, you just need to do the following:
-run fullscreen (windowed mode has an incorrect aspect ratio)
-make sure the fullscreen aspect ratio is right (should be a video card driver setting)
-force vsync (also a video card driver setting)

max out the game's settings and go ;)

The entire soundtrack of the game's easily accessible too, they're WMA files.

I was referring more to my age than anything Sonic related. I would have loved to have that mouse anywhere from between 7 and 14 years old (10 years ago I was 13). Sure it's crap as a feature mouse but as an everyday optical mouse it's awesome for a kid.

I already posted this a week or so ago in the "pics of your recent purchases" thread but thought I would repost it here as its where it probably should have been posted to begin with.

A couple of weeks ago I finally got around to getting a retail copy of SSF4AE (I have been using LMN's digital copy until now that's locked to her GFWL profile.

But now, I finally have a key for my GFWL account :D

I purchased it from the "Capcom Store" for $27 (including postage to Australia) 3 weeks ago and it arrived 5 days ago and came with free Bobble Heads of Evil Ryu and Oni.

Wasn't Vita backwards compatible with previous psp titles?

If I was interested in psp games, I would have gotten that instead as it's backwards compatible, upscales and smoothes a bit psp titles and it's future proof.

silenus only if the psp games are compatible and you have to pay a small fee per game to get digital copies of your umd games. Also not all umd psp games will have a digital copy so its still better to keep a psp if you buy a vita.

So far the game is very good, but it shows you what a long gestation can do in place of quality.....FF13 ran in 720 with no framerate drops, FF13-2 struggles when you have a lot going on. But FF13 was more optimized than this (as it should, it had a 6 year gestation) But FF13-2 itself, it has a lot of good ideas.

The only real glaring flaw aside from the occasional framerate is the music.....it does not have that same "kick" as FF13 did. Hamauzu was absent from this game, and it shows.

I like the idea of monsters fighting with you in your party, it brings a Pokemon aspect to the game.

Get a Flanitor when you have a chance....they auto heal, just like they did in FF13, but now instead of raging against them, you can use it as an asset :p

All in all a great game so far.

I got the collectors edition, so it comes with the soundtrack and artbook as well.

lucky! id love to get a ce game but ya know...

i did manage to get an ff soundtrack. it was so difficult to get im serious because it was xii's one, it was limited edition from 2006 so they were mostly out of stock.

first one i ordered: a fake (ended up getting my money back)
second one was an original and i still listen to it sometimes. the boss themes are good as though. (trust me i went to lengths to prove it is DEFINATELY real)

damn havent bought a ps3 game in ages i been so obsessed with emulation and all.

ya i know ffxii wasn't the best but the soundtrack imo was really nice.

I guess patience does pay off. Wal Mart is selling it in the us for $19.99, Amazon also has it, but its $29.99 there. You can have 3 save slots. I am really happy to have the game and played through the first level.

I'll post a piccy or two later.

I didn't think very highly of FFXIII, but FFXIII-2 looks like its had some changes that I might actually like. The special edition looks pretty cool, might track a copy down.

Picked this up today, it may only be bonus mode from a full game, but I really liked that mode and since it was severely reduced I thought **** it and bought it, ridiculous save system and all.

These came in the mail today. I've played through Arkham City on PC and it was great, I saw this on drastic sale online and had to get it. I've also played through a bit of Hunted on PC and thought it was garbage, however as a co-op game it should be good for a few laughs which is the only reason I bought it.

Just as a memo to anyone else wanting the game. The retail is Origin ONLY BUT it's not actually an Origin exclusive game, in order to get it without Origin you HAVE to get the Steam version unfortunately I couldn't but that's definitely what I would recommend.

Next some of my purchasing backlog had sufficiently reduced in price so that I could obtain it.
Deus Ex - Human Revolution (Limited Edition, hadn't planned on that but nice to get anyways and no premium paid, nice to get the extra DLC mission).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/SCHUMIinSA/C360_2012-02-15-16-23-39n.jpg
Retail is Steam install.

And the The First Templar had finally dropped to the ~$12 range so I could get that as well. With all the complaints I sure as hell wasn't gonna pay top dollar for it but I definitely wanted it and so far I've been pleased. Got it a few days ago already but had been too lazy to post then.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/SCHUMIinSA/C360_2012-02-15-16-21-40n.jpg
Kalypso placed their own account and activation requirement on the game as DRM which sucks since considering how the game bombed it's unlikely how long the service will continue to function. And since the game is so unpopular hunting for the crack was quite the mission.

Apparently my game purchasing luck has improved a bit since these were all the last available copies in the entire shopping center whereas before I tended to miss that point and had to wait sometimes indefinitely for the game to come back into stock (there certainly was no way I would have had another chance to get The Last Templar legit with the way it bombed and getting the LE for DX-HR also wouldn't have been likely).

So thats why you had to sell your soul to EA. This is the first time i see you buying a game when it comes out.

SCHUMI_4EVER
February 15th, 2012, 16:11
Yeah it's very rare for me. Though to be fair when I got NFS-HP (2010) and L.A.Noire it was also pretty close to release. I certainly was A LOT more interested in this than Skyrim which is still waiting for at least a 50% price drop before I get it (I just don't trust Bethesda). In order for a game to be anywhere near a day one purchase it has to offer (or at least appear to offer) something I've been dying to get from other games but still haven't after all these years.

I might not have had to sell my soul but since some users were experiencing issues with other means of install I didn't feel like bothering with that eventhough in all likelyhood they were just too stupid to get it right whereas I'm obviously not. Also means I would have had to likely pass on a bonus purchase DLC mission which I didn't feel like doing either.

Well since we have to keep it all mostly legit here you could buy it and show me the disc along with some still to be determined proof message and then after that I could upload the crack somewhere for you.

Some assmonkey locked the torrented Crack only versions with a password which can only be obtained by going to his sharecash link and "doing a survey" out of a choice of 5 (in my case they were all mobile WASP daily/weekly subscription services so there was no way in hell I was gonna do that though I'm usually up for filling out crap like that). And there was only one seed that was on and off and only uploading at like 10 bytes or something anyways. So I don't recommend hunting yourself. Took me 2 days to finally scare up a working fileshare link (but I've since lost it).

Hmm I just noticed there's a Steam version as well (that includes the DLC), don't know whether that has the same stupid DRM. Still super expensive though, I definitely recommend waiting (preferably till it hits the $10 mark).
I'm pleased I bought it and have been enjoying but it's definitely not a game for everyone so I don't recommend taking a chance on a high price.

Pretty much the only people who would even be remotely interested in this are guys that want a hack and slasher that's less fantasy and magic and more real world and historical (though I'm pretty sure the story is all fiction). Assassin's Creed meets Dynasty Warriors (most enemies are regular footsoldiers that don't have much substance to them) without the acrobatics and platforming and far less mobs and almost entirely linear is kinda how I would describe it.

I've got to pick that up at some point.

Picked up The Darkness at EB today, game had an introductory price that was around $20 below its regular price which I thought was okay, but as a limited edition its pretty damn weak. All the bonuses you get are digital, the case is metal and you get a poster. Not exactly riveting stuff.

Final Fantasy came in the mail and it fares alright as a limited collectors thing.

To get the entire soundtrack for PAL dudes, one must buy the "Crystal Limited Collectors holy **** spend all your money" edition, which also included a t-shirt, but was twice the price of the version I bought.

It would have been nice to get the entire soundtrack and not some pansy sampler, but at $66 verses $150 for some extra cd's I wasn't really impressed.

$150? Geez Australia is expensive. But $66 is not bad for the CE. I paid $80, plus the CE guide, so with tax it was $120-ish.

To make matters worse, those were prices for ozgameshop which are always cheaper than retail by a huge margin, the prices of the crystal edition in story was ostentatious, like asking for the CE Guide which is going for around $50-$60.

Although in the past week, EB has undergone a major drop in prices, games which are normally around 90-120 are now around 68-78 range which is a huge improvement. I'm sure it'll go up again though.

For 30 something odd dollars this was a great special edition, albeit with a few issues. The external cover flaps around, there is a print of the cover on the front of the box itself to recognise if the cover disappears. The internals fold out and aren't removable, which makes access to the manual, bonus disc, postcards and bonus dvd a bit of an issue to get to.

Saying that however, its a nice and extremely affordable collectors edition.

This came in today, unfortunately Ryu's little scarf didn't survive the postal service seeing the connection to the main model is really fragile, but for a special edition it's pretty sweet. The figures are nicely detailed, have good weight and are coloured quite tastefully. Although the game's been getting some rough reception, I enjoy the series too much to pass it up.

A company called Merge Games (http://www.mergegames.com/), they seem to specialise in releasing smaller titles into markets that normally have difficulty in distribution. Their catalogue seems to be full of fringe or indie games which I think is awesome. The game was sold for $20, which is a fair bit more than the digital distribution, but for such a decent little package I thought it was pretty good.

Looks like they've also done Terraria as a collector's edition.

Grabbed this today. I've heard the game is pretty jank at times, especially in Dead Souls mode, however I have a fondness for the Yakuza series and had to get it. The guy serving me said that the game was in Japanese language and there was no english, I told him that was fine, but does this imply people return games because of a language barrier?

K-Mart listed it in their sales flyer as $19.99. It was supposed to be $39.99.

They honored the sales flyer price.

Oddly enough they even had that right by the checkout area in Electronics, 6 days after the sale started *at the last day of the sale!*

I figured they'd have a disclaimer that it was a pricing error, but not such disclaimer was there, just the ad.

I still have to get the add on for my controller, as its just the regular Wii mote, not the "plus" version.

Nice haul. I've always been interested in Sanctum, but never seen it retail so I've never had the chance to get it. Seems like a far more interesting way to play a Tower Defense game than just placing a bunch of towers and then waiting 5 minutes and hoping for the best.

Ahielia
May 29th, 2012, 22:00
Problem with Sanctum, is that while at first the shooting in between waves is a fun change from just sitting there on your arse waiting for the towers to kill something, it's a necessity on the harder difficulties.
One dude I saw screens from, didn't use the guns at all, only the towers, and the best he got (that I saw) was 60% core life (The thing you're supposed to defend, every creep leaked takes a few % off).

SCHUMI_4EVER
May 29th, 2012, 22:43
in between waves? I thought you were supposed to be in the thick of the waves fighting them off as if you were basically a mobile tower. Then in between the waves you upgrade and repair and build new towers same as usual. With the strategy basically being making a choice between optimum location for shooting and optimum location for building or upgrading stuff since there's only limited time inbetween waves (meaning there's likely not enough time to build and upgrade all the way from one side of the maze to the other).

I never got into either Deus Ex or Crysis that much, but these versions are popular for a reason. In Crysis 2's case, it's not because the game is good. Popularity does not equate to how good something necessarily is. Crysis and Crysis Warhead (on the PC) are good games, but Crysis 2, not so much. They turned it too much into a Call of Duty and a console game. In the case of Crysis 2, I guess it doesn't matter much if one opts for the console version. Although it'd normally be the worse option, since the game is a console game anyway, I guess it doesn't matter much.

Most of the time when Australia bans a game I just ignore it as its usually a crap game anyway. Sooo glad I went to the hassle of importing MK: Komplete Edition.

Picked this up today, the mouse was a free pre-order bonus through EB Gamestop and is a pretty nifty looking unit on its own right. Game is installed, all 3.63gb but it won't be available for use until 12:00 tomorrow which is a bit annoying. At least I can watch the beginning and end movies within the game folder.

Art book is really nice, there are some post cards and the game soundtrack which is the same as the one from the 360/PS3 version. Tomorrow will be sunbro-ing the gargoyles!

My plan is to head straight for Havel the Rock, get his ring, tackle Gwynn's knight in the Dark Root garden, get the Grass Crest shield, run past the titanite demon and level up my avatar's equipment, then sunbro the heck out of the Belfry Gargoyles, then off that damn hellkite dragon for a laugh. Should be a lot of fun.

why do you grab new games that are already open and have a new sticker on it? I usually ask if they have any sealed copies.

BlazBlue was a "used" game, NanoAssault was the last copy, and Mass Effect 3 is still sealed.

usually they don't put stickers on a sealed copy.

Well its the wrong price anyways, I paid $19.99 for Mass Effect 3, its marked at $59.99.

You should have seen the display case, it was partially smashed!

I asked if they had any more copies and they had more behind the counter.

That's a good deal, although I heard the controls & camera aren't that friendly.
I'd have snagged it if I had the money at the time. ;)

I have getting a supergun and a Neo Geo 1 Slot MVS on my bucket list.
I have 7 Neo Geo MVS Carts, AOF (AKA "Guinea pig), AOF2 (AKA first Neo Geo game I ever played) KOF94 (I got it free with KOF95, because it was 'scuffed' but it works, KOF 95, and League Bowling.

Oh, I have a Street Fighter PCB as well.

hey bot, easy there, or I'll report you!

You should consider doing that after leaving a note at the control thread, actually.

Since post deletion is disabled on the forums, there is no way to remove false positive posts aside from contacting an admin/mod.

The reason this is "Pictures #2" is because a "bot" deleted the entire thread of "Pictures of your new games" and a new thread had to be made.

Ratchet & Clank could almost make me want a PS3, and I'd imagine that fighting games on the PS3 play better than the 360, with maybe the exception of the DOA4 joystick I own.
