You may not have the required run time files for ePSXe , and the plugins it uses.

You can get these from the following locations

How to obtain the Visual C++ 6.0 run-time components (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/259403)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=200b2fd9-ae1a-4a14-984d-389c36f85647&displaylang=en)Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=a5c84275-3b97-4ab7-a40d-3802b2af5fc2&displaylang=en)

If you have .Net 1.1 and 1.1 SP1 installed, then the MSVC 7 and 7.1 runtimes are already Installed.
If you have .Net 2.0 or .Net 2.0 SP1 installed, then the MSVC 8 and 8.1 runtimes are already installed.(2005)

Not entirely sure but .net 3.5 may install the MSVC 9 runtimes. (2008)

Squall-Leonhart

its possible if you did it wrong that the plugin may still be in the folder and cause psx to screw up due to a missing dependency.

ok will it work if i just delete everything and restart my computer and just start over and

http://forums.ngemu.com/generic-epsxe-queries/85600-epsxe-configuration-guide-windows.html

read over that so you can see how to set epsxe correctly, also make sure you do what is mentioned at the bottom about deleting the registry entries, which is important if you really want to do a fresh install.

hi. I ain't quite sure if I'm allowed to ask this here but, what the heck. I'm having trouble running a japanese rom. first I received an error msg that sez something like "cdr read error" with a series of numbers. then when I restarted, upon selecting run CD-ROM in epxe, it doesn't do the trick and my screen resolution goes wild. I am using an US bios btw, does that make sense? does US bios support japanese imports or am I only to use roms from the US? if so, can I use a japanese bios instead?

Squall-Leonhart

the US bios is fine, it will run any PSX game from any region.

Those numbers are sectors, and can mean either the wrong drive is selected, or the disk/image is damaged.

I just realized that I need to configure the right read mode settings under cdrom tab :heh:, although I gotta admit 'ts one heck of a tedious, un-guaranteed task but heck, I guess that's what we all are fated to deal with. thanks again squall, you've ever been helpful. :thumb:

can anybody teach me the right epxe configurations to run ISOs? 'cuz when I run CDroms in my epxe, they do fine, but when I run ISO the screen just goes black and only the controller icon emerges.oO what do I do?

Just use SapuCDR if you are mounting the images.

I have a problem... I used to own a PS, so i have several games, and i'm trying to play FFIX, but even after i configure ePSXe, after i go to file>Run CDROM, the window goes black, while the cd is spinning, but doesn't move from there. Any advice?

Squall-Leonhart

your drive probably doesn't support reading of PSX games.

March 23rd, 2009, 16:37
Should i burn an ISO off it, then?

Error messages, and what happens when you do try to start it up would be nice.
Not including that when asking for help, is like going to the mechanic with your car saying "It's broke, fix it".

Edit: You can also say what you did so far.
Like where you downloaded (and which) plugins, which folder you put them in, that sort of thing.
A list of your gpu and spu plugins (along with your system specs) and their configurations will also help a lot.

i just told you earlier that we cannot give you assistance because you have addmitted to be using a pirated console BIOS, so do not try to get help with this same problem again.

when threads are closed for any rule violation, members are expected to avoid ignoring a staff member's warning, and breaking the same rule over and over again is grounds for getting yourself banned.

now i dont have a problem helping you if you are using a BIOS that has been dumped from your own console, but until then and other than that, you are going to have to look elsewhere for help.

What the hell, it's emulation. There's nothing legal about it anyways.

newbs should read before posting.

Ya I don't need to read the bull**** legal disclaimer that is on every forum such as this. I already know what it says and its standard across every forum. All im saying is you shouldn't be afraid to discuss certain things related to our hobby just because someone may not like it.

And I resent being called a newb. I have been enjoying emulation for years. It was just not until now that I joined this forum.

discuss things that are against the law? if you dont like our rules then go somewhere else because we are not going to cater to pirates and you are not really in a position to challenge it.
