i got my new acer aspire one yesteday, opened the package and was excited to try it out. but no such luck.

i put in the battery and started the computer while i took out the power adapter, the computer seemed to start fine but before i got to connect the power the batteries ran out of power and the computer shut off.

I didn't think any off it, but to my surprise the computer wouldn't start anymore, i tried to start it again with and without batteries, then i let the batteries get fully charged the battery light went green but it still didn't start. the power button blinked once and nothing happened except that the battery light went out and i had to disconnect the power and batteries for it to light up again.

and now i guess i just have to return it and either get it fixed or get a new one.

just my luck...

yeah..
however, you should always charge up the battery first, just to be sure.
or if you really can't wait, at least attach the power cord before starting.

hm. did you put the battery out for at least one hour?
my laptop (acer travelmate 292) has a similiar phenomen when i boot it with an empty battery.

as i said i fully charged the batteries afterwards and tried without the batteries but still it wouldn't start at all.

can you remove the CMOS batterie without breaking a warranty seal?
when yes: try this.

is that an easy task? i know how you do it on normal computers but i dont know how you do it on laptops.

You need to charge your battery for 16hrs+ before it runs out for ANY NEW electronic device you get.

yeah i will be more careful with that in the future, but it should work with just having the power plugged in without batteries anyway right.

and just running out of battery power shouldn't make a laptop unusable
