View Full Version : Final Fantasy XII PAL Video Problems

I've been trying to get Final Fantasy XII PAL videos to run smooth, the videos aren't running too slow but the sound jumps a lot. When the video's are running I'm getting a low FPS which I guess results in the studder. This slowness and jumpiness is worse with P.E.Op.s SPU2 1.9.0.

When I switched to ZeroSPU2 0.4.6 I got a greater frame rate and the the sound was less jumpy, although for every 1~2 seconds of the video the sound jumps.

It feels like the videos are studdering, when I got ingame, It had very playable frames, it's just only the videos that stuff up.

~I'd like to mention that Final fantasy X videos work fast and fine.~

In the second video where you begin the game there is a black strip on the bottom of the video, where in the intro there wasn't.

Could this be something to do with my CPU? or has it got to do with a patch, config perhaps.

Any help would be appreciated thanks ;)

FMVs in PAL version of FF XII are screwed up in PCSX2.There is not much u can do... They're slow and rather not glitchy in PCSX2 0.9.4 to beta 0.9.5 ~348 <right before IPU's update>. In later ones they look even worse - waves of black boxes appear on the screen...

Sound is bad because of low fps <too slow CPU> - ZeroSPU2 with timestretching might help here but ingame it sounds rather bad compared to PEOPS SPU2.

Note: FMVs in FF XII NTSC r perfectly fine.

Pcsx2 version ?
Gfx plugin ?

Edit : I didn't see rainbow's answer, but he's right about your CPU.

But I don't agree with him concerning latest pcsx2 beta. FMVs run almost perfect for me with speed hacks enabled, & gsdx 1.8 SSE2.

(Don't know about sound, though. I always play without :()

Depends, if you use non native res, it's glitchy, a lot. If it's native, it's fine.

+1

Didn't know it could come from that, though :thumb:

If the FMVs r glitchy only in non-native res - post ur FF XII PAL CRC in GSDX thread (http://forums.ngemu.com/ps2-plugin-questions-troubleshooting/97657-gsdx.html). There is a special hack for FF XII PAL FMVs in GSDX, but it won't work unless gabest adds CRC number to the GSDX <UK version works for sure>.

Well maybe after 377, FMVs in PAL version got better again, don't know since I sold the game <the most crappy ending in all FFs I tried so far>, so maybe it works correct now...

Note: that's how it looks in 377:

I've got the same problem, but cant find anything in that GSDX thread. 134 pages, search results came with nothing.

CRC is 9AAC5309, i've tried so many combinations of options its unreal.

FFX worked fine, but X2 here is just blah.

well add that crc on the gsdx thread, not here. I will do so when I get the crc from my game.

I'm using ZeroGS Kosmos 0.97.0

I've tried 0.9.4 and the latest 377 beta. Theirs also one other problem, the graphics are playing up, you can see behind walls(Similar to a wall hack), and theirs a distinct blur effect around characters in the cut scenes. I'll post a few screenshots later when I get home.

And I thought GSDX was for Intel Core 2 Duo users only?

Nope. SSE2 version of GSDX (http://forums.ngemu.com/ps2-plugin-questions-troubleshooting/97657-gsdx.html) will work perfectly fine on X2. Be sure to update ur DirectX first.

I tested Gsdx and have to admit it works amazing, my frames have increased in game now, however the slowdown in video hasn't changed, it's more of a sound issue and which plugin reduces the use of my CPU. Until I get my AMD 6000+ i'll have to deal with with studdery sound it seems.
