I recently downloaded PCSX2 onto my laptop which is running Vista as its OS and have come across some problems. As soon as run a CD the application crashes. It doesnt even go onto the main screen of the PS2 menu. I have looked round this forum and the internet and found nothing.

Thanks in advance,

PS, somethings that may help

1) Ive tried running direct from a cd and from an ISO
2) Havent changed any of the plugins from installation
3) Even though the EROM.bin and the ROM1.bin and ROM2.bin are in the BIOS directory it still says that they cannot be found
4) Tried running the program as adminstrator
5) Have little to no knowledge of computers or emulating

I installed it yesterday and it seemed to be working fine. I followed the guide and started kingdom hearts and i was running flawlessly. plugin lillypad and worked perfectly and i did not meet any problems. Today, the program stopped working. I think its the cdvdrom problem, but im not sure. With the same settings, it doesn't work today while it worked yesterday.

Bios works perfectly, i see the ps2 boot up screen, but i can't run the game anymore.

When I use lunuzapps 0.7.0, i get the message: error loading (directory).iso

ps... dont tell me to reinstall, ive already tried.

You are using a _seriously_ outdated PCSX2 version, like 3-4 years ago....delete your whole pcsx2 directory (don't forget to keep your bios) and grab the latest 0.9.4 from the official site.

I installed it yesterday and it seemed to be working fine. Obviously, you did something wrong from your part, programs don't magically stop working with no change,so find what you did and revert it

According to you laptop specs you will have a HARD time running the latest version of PCSX2. The recommended speed is 3.0Ghz, and you only have 1.8

OMG HAHAHAHA

You are so cabb

I have an AMD Phenom QUAD CORE 9850 2.5GHz
2GB DDR-II SDRAM
160GB SATA-II HDD
nVidia GeForce 8500GT 512MB VRAM
Windows Vista Ultimate

That will go nowhere near playing a PS2 game.. Your laptop's CPU is crap compared to mine and if mine can't do it nor can yours mate.

You are either going to have to majorly upgrade like I am in the process of doing or get a new PS2, only $200 or so, might be better to get a PS2, I got that new GFX card today, cost me $115 xD. Only $85 off a PS2

Thanks.

or it means you're not very clever...
Why wouldn't it work on yours ?
I have a less powerful rig than yours, and it works well.

Of course, his rig isn't in the recommende settings and it's gonna be quite hard to make MGS run smoothly. But pcsx2 may work with early 3d Games and all compatible 2D games.

@JJO : I dunno if you handled the problem, but I 'd have suggested you to switch to gsdx instead of ZeroGs. Your gfx plugin seems to be the problem.

please avoid reviving old threads just to say "your CPU is crap"

I'm closing this down to avoid more posts
