Ive been here for a long time though i never reply because the english text is in my mind better then on paper.. but sometimes i get a bit pissed at some of the people that come here and expect a full running program

First

Dolphin is a fearly new emulator (EDIT: 4 years old! --thnx shashClp ) the authors who made it worked very hard on it and it will not run al games at full speed without bugs

this is also not the point of emulating its the trill of running a different os or game console hardware on default pc

making threads with game x wil not play .. like duh i clap in my hands if it only shows the intro!

now the hardware

the nintendo gamecube features a ati processor "based" on Ati 9700 videocard (it is the same design team )
it wil not run on onboard videos with shared memory unless you have a nvidia based chipset.. laptops almost always have a onboard video chip like
INTEL GMA
SIS
S3
ATI 7 series

these will not run and if you want to try it use the directx plugin the opengl is wisfull thinking

if you have a desktop system you probably have a Nvidia Geforce videocard
use the opengl plugin

if you have a Ati videocard use the Directx one this is because the ati drivers doesnt have good support for opengl this is not because the dolphin members donīt know howto write a opengl plugin even john carmack (lead designer of the quake series) has troubles writing for ati cards

Processors

there are 2 big processors you either have a AMD or a Intel

dolphin wil run the best on a dual processor it will run on a single core processor but never fullspeed to see if you have a dual or single you need to look at the name of the processor

Intel has:
Intel Pentium Dual Core
Intel Core 2 Duo
Centrino Dual
Xeon

those are dual core if you have a Pentium 4 HT it means you have Hypertreading thats not dual core its a fake software that optimizes one processor by splitting it with software

AMD has

AMD X2
AMD PHANTOM

AMD 64bit is 64bit but not dual core

with the dual core processors you can run both windows 32bit and windows 64bit most people buy a computer with windows 32bit you need to install 64bit windows yourself you can choose between:

Windows XP
Windows Vista

Forget about XP because the driver support is very limited and if you
have power enough to run Vista 64bit it wil run fast enough

if you want to download windows vista 64bit

make sure you have a legal ultimate version (Key) of:

32 or 64 bit

Ultimate
Premium
Business

***Thanx Chaos_Blader***

so thats about it... i hope it helps

SOUND:

awww the sound issue .. short and simple if a game has sound.. great if it hasn't? to bad!
sound is not a priority right now first focus is on grapichs and stability

Please don't ask questions about sound in games!
its done when its done

golden rule:

A CHEAP SECOND HAND GAMECUBE IS LESS THEN $ 30 GAMES LESS THEN $ 10
IF YOU WANT TO PLAY BUY ONE

Well Said, seeing this emu get devolped makes me want to relive my gamecube days. Unfortunatly I cannot, no console (don't know what happened to it). Im looking into getting a gamecube console again but the problem is no way to hook it up to my 26in LCD. I only have VGA, HDMI, and DVI. And the one game.

The one game that im glad to even see START let alone work and show a proper screen res and graphics. Resident Evil Remake does not support Progressive Scan so VGA adaptor (cable) is otu of the question.

Be thankful we have a Emu that is this far and can even boot a commerical game.

Jolly Good Show Dolphin Team! Keep up the hard work. Been visiting these forums daily since I found out about the SVN release.

Just correcting your mistakes :P

False, Dolphin has been in development for at least 4 years now, you just have to check the official webpage (http://www.dolphin-emu.com/).

The GameCube graphics chipset was done by ArtX (which was later bought by ATI), but it has nothing to do with the ATI 9XXX series. You're free to correct me with some proper references, though.

In no way is it based on the 9700, but the other way around it might hold some truth.

"The Radeon 9700 is the first architecture developed by ATI's west coast development team, which includes the former ArtX team, known for developing the graphics for the NINTENDO GAMECUBE™"

ATI press release (http://ati.amd.com/companyinfo/press/2002/4512.html)

And well yeh, as the same guys who created the gamecube graphics chip worked on the radeon 9700 I wouldn't be surprised the slightest in case they incorporated parts of what the design of the gamecube chip with which they worked for so long into the radeon 9700.

Good work.

[QUOTE=joeblack2k;1404641]
if you want to download windows vista 64bit make sure you have a legal ultimate version of vista 64bit, ultimate is the only 64bit version for vista
QUOTE]

Vista x64 is also available in home premium and business, and the 64 bit editions will work with the same keys as the 32 bit ones.
