Most great and honorable emuforums, I petition your great wisdom...

I am trying to get ePSXe working on a laptop with a realtek sound card (I think I have that right...) running Vista Ultimate.

I have tested P.E.Op.S, Eternal SPU, Pete's, and the core sound plugins, and none of them produce any sound.

Anyone have any ideas what I am missing?

Thanks

what games are you playing and are they being played from, the disc or from an image?

Maybe you have just to enable the sound in the config/sound box ;p

Anyway, to kill all your dobts about plugins, get MY PLUGIN FOLDER (http://forums.ngemu.com/attachments/psxeven-discussion/163706d1214561811-psxeven-legend-dragoon-black-screen-plugin.7z), and select the eternal sound plugin, then set its configuration as fellow :

I have not even gotten that far, I am still in the config stages. I click the test button and nothing happens. I tried with all of the above plugins. And no sound is produced.

But I will test it with a game and see what happens

The test button is for nothing, it'll not produce any testing sound like windows :p, just a confirmation box.
Try running the BIOS first, if any sound is produced with that, then it'll work for the rest.
And post your PC specs.

huh...

Ok. Well it works with games, just not during the config tests....

Thanks for all your help guys!

Test is not supposed to produce any sound. Test just checks if there are any possible conflicts (like you not having a sound card) and reports the status.

hanibal81, I already explained why it is not such a good idea to post plugin packs. Just link to the NGEmu plugins page (http://www.ngemu.com/plugins.php?cat=1&os=win32) if you want to recommend a plugin to a user.

You can try the plugin called "gpuPeopsSoft.dll" in which you have all you need.CD reading,sound,graphic...etc... The size is about 688 KB.If it doesn't work on ePSXe 1.7.0 then try that plugin on ePSXe 1.6.0
It works great;)

O.o? gpuPeopsSoft.dll is just the PEOpS Soft video plugin... >.>

To the OP: Do you have the volume muted for ePSXe in the "windows sound mixer" ?
If I remember correctly, Vista has "per program" volume control.

I K.N.O.W.
But this one has even sound.I am serious.I am using ONLY that plugin, and everything works. He might try ePSXe 1.6.0 with only that one...

The obvious thing that you are missing here S.T.A.R.S. is that you are using integrated ePSXe sound plugin.
Just got to Config->Sound and you will see that you are using "ePSXe SPU core 1.X.X." plugin. P.E.Op.S soft is only a GPU plugin.

Plugins can be multitype but to my knowledge no one has made that kind of plugin yet.

Hmm I don't think it's integrated. When I remove the plugin then I do not have ANY sound plugins provided...
Same for graphic,CD ROM drive etc...
If I get it back then I have all again.I don't know, maybe I am wrong, but this is what I noticed.
