Hi, on every game I play that has voiceovers for the characters, they stutter in the movie sequences. How can I resolve this problem? Is it a sound issue, or does my comp just suck?

post the spu plugin you are using and how you have it configured. what version of epsxe are you using?

version 1.6
Eternal SPU Plugin Lite 1.41
Audio Device = DirectSound Buffer Size = 64
Audio out method = Thread
Misc Wait for XA buffer is free
Special Game Fix SPU IRQ - Wait CPU action
SPU IRQ - Force interruption flag7
The reason I have 1.6 and the selected plugin is that my comp isn't as good as it could be, plus it's a laptop, I can post specs if it will help.

in the spu selection menu what boxes are ticked? you should only have the top 3, leave the 4th unticked. i had the eternal spu setup very similar to what you have there, the only difference was i kept all 3 game fixes enabled. some people said the SPUasync audio-out method worked better for games that had voice overs like the RE games, but for me either setting worked fine.

Try with ePSXe v1.7.0 and the Internal SPU plugin.

That was my original problem, my computer can't run 1.7. No matter what options I use or what plugins I choose as my active ones, I cannot run 1.7.

what does it do specifically? does it give some sort of error message or close itself out?

Remains only the GFX card info, but you can the get full info about your system, as fellow :
GO TO : START/RUN, then type : dxdiag then OK.
Wait a few moments a window with tags will appear, go to the DISPLAY tag , there you go.
Post'em right away.

And make an iso. If the stutter happens in the cutscenes most likely is due to the disc streaming and the emulation can't keep up.

OK this is weird, 1.7 runs now... And to whoever said the thing about the ISO, the first thing I did was get that from my disc. I don't trust putting anything in my computer that wasn't made for it.

so what are you playing from now, the disc or an image?
Rift Warrior
July 21st, 2008, 05:52
I always use an image unless my comp gives me problems running ImgBurn, which I use to get the disc images most of the time. Sometimes I can get DVDFab to pick up the discs, and the images work better when I manage to use it..

try mounting the image on daemon tools.

Sorry for m lack of knowledge, but the only word I understood was "it".

you are using an image so instead of doing run>iso, try mounting it onto a virtual drive software like daemon tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5) and configure your cdrom plugin to look towards the virtual drive letter instead of your physical drive. daemon tools can create up to 4 virtual drives that you can mount images (ISOs) onto so that the game or whatever can be played without actually needing to have it kept in the dvd/cd drive the whole time.

OK, now do I just run the mounted image like I did before?
jonc2006

you configure the cdrom plugin to look towards the virtual drive it is mounted on instead of your physical drive and then do run>cdrom.

1- Install deamon tool, it'll create a virtual drive in your computer in addition to the one you have (real one :P).
2- After that, you have to move your mouse cursor to the daemon try icon on the task bar, right click and go to : VIRTUAL CD/DVD-ROM then to : DEVICE 0, then to : Mount Image.
Find your Game file (iso/image...etc). Click open to mount it.
3- After mounting, you need just to select the virtual drive to be used by the CD-R plugin of your emu.
HAVE FUN.

Once you mount the Image and use it as CD-ROM. Do the following configuration work without shutter?
PEOpS Soft video plugin (just for testing purposes) + Eternal sound plugin. (either Lite or not)
