I just started to get into the DS emulation scene and I was wondering which emulator has the best combination of compatibility and easy usability...

PS: I am not asking fanboy war over the emulators and yes, I did search the forums for the ""best nds emulator"".

For me it is NO$GBA.
Unmatchable compatibility and speed.

Too bad that there's probably gonna be no more update for No$GBA

No$gba has more speed, agreed. But, iDeaS is equal (or maybe exceeds) in the compatibility part.

Who knows...

-NoCash is good in speed, but iDeaS is better and more advanced on 3d.

Well... Because there hasn't been any update for about six months, and as far as I know no one heard from Martin since then.

But like Mynemisbat-Zul said "Who knows... "

I personally think that NO$GBA is the best so far but iDeaS and NeonDS seems to be promising too.

We all hope there is an update to no$gba, but I'd say NeonDS is also quite impressive from what I've seen. A lot of hope is coming from that emu!

First off, this thread should be in the "Misc Handheld Discussion" section of the forum.

Secondly, don't assume the author(s) stopped working on any emu without anything to base upon. If the author(s) decide to stop working on the emu, then they will say so on their homepage, forums, etc...

Lastly, it isn't surprising that there hasn't been any update for no$gba in six months, since this happened before on older releases. If you have checked the History page on the no$gba homepage, you will see that there are some release that took about six months or more than that.

...but iDeaS is better and more advanced on 3d.

Can you explain ? for me iDeaS is worse for 3D, see Rayman DS, all the menu text is missing, this makes the game hard to start. And sometimes, the "ptizetre" in the menu gets INSIDE the rock instead of being on the rock, Carmen the whale sometimes gets upside-down, the camera sometimes acts as if somebody was kicking the camera-man from times to times.

And, when you start game (incredible exploit !!!), you've the intro where the camera goes forward as it should do, and after a few seconds, it goes backward up to it's initial position and then stops here.

Another annoying bug, Rayman sometimes becomes invisible, blocked in sort of an invisible cylinder-shaped wall, you can only see his shadow, and then he dies either by electrocuting himself as in electrical rays, by being hurted, or even by falling through the floor !!!

But this game seems to have more complex 3D, Mario 64 runs better, the only bug is that the character sometimes gets "teleported" to another location in the world, in a tree, or even off the world (in this case, you lose a life) !!!
This can be annoying, for example, when, after hours of hard gaming, you crossed the level and climbed a high mountain, to fight the boss on top of it, and then you get teleported at the other side of the world, exactly at the location where you started the level !!!

But this is for me. This could differ for other games, New Super Mario Bros is almost fine, it only has some small 3D/2D blending problems.

Don't think I'm saying bad things about iDeaS, this emu is great.
