View Full Version : (Semi-ish)Transparent window problems playing final fantasy 8

I have been using ePSXe to play FF8, but have there are issues with the play when sometimes when switching between windows.

Example:

I open ePSXe and load the game. I play for a while and everything seems fine.
I then switch to a firefox window and view this webpage.
I then decide to continue playing FF8. As I switch to the ePSXe window, I cannot see the game because in its place is the section of the webpage which is directly underneath it. I can move this section of the webpage around the screen using ePSXe's window, but it won't display the game again.
Fiddling around with it by putting other windows on top ePSXe and dragging it around has the usual results too trivial to describe.

/End Example

I've had this a few times and I've barely got started on playing the game. Being unable to fix the freeze, I have to restart ePSXe.

I'm interested in a simple solution which will mean I get the game back without a restart, and failing that I will post the configuration details (are people using some sort of command line to post that information in other threads?) for some sort of plugin help

I would have searched around more but I've found this horrendously difficult to describe

Thanks in advance for any help.

PS: is ePSXe formed/spelt with capitals in the format I have been using?

How about the following?

Open ePSXe and load the game... play normaly with everything working fine.
When you decide to use FireFox, hit the ESC key to stop the emulation.
Once you decide to play the game again, use Run => Continue.

what are you doing specifically when you move between the emulator window and whatever else you are doing? are you leaving it in-game and doing a ALT+TAB to switch between other things or are you pressing esc to go back to the GUI first and then moving between other windows from there? and krossx just said what i was about to bring up- if you ever want to stop playing for a while to go to do something else but dont want to shut off the emulator you should just go back to the GUI and then do whatever it is you need to do, do not leave it running in-game. when you want to continue just do run>continue and it will go back to the game.

Thanks very much; I'll use the escape method to change between games

I normally change windows whilst in-game using the taskbar.

disable visual themes in epsxes compatibility properties (right click epsxe.exe and click properties)
