Help with Chrono Cross

I downloaded the rom for chrono cross, however after i choose new game on the main screen, the screen just stays black, this is not the first game i have tried on this emulator but it is the first that i have had trouble with, could someone possibly help give an explanation, thanks.

I know a guy who downloaded the Chrono Cross rom, then deleted it promptly after a Yes/No prompt came up asking if he wanted to be promptly raped repeatedly by Jonc and his army.
