Okay, so I recently built myself a new computer. It has an Intel Dual Core E4700 CPU, Nvidia 8800GT VGA and Vista Ultimate x64.
Now, I've come to put ePSXe back on by simply copying the old (working) folder onto the new PC and now whenever I start a game, either by CD-ROM or ISO, all I get is a black screen.
I've tested the BIOS and that works fine. I've tried different plugins for every option in the Emu and nothing happens.
Now I don't know if it's because I've gone from XP x32 to Vista x64, but I've not read about any incompatibilities so I've not thought that it was the OS.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ehem... You did reconfigure everything again, right?

epsxe creates registry entries upon installation so you need to download it and install it again. if that doesnt do it then make sure you patch your games with a .ppf patch since you are likely using PAL region games. also make sure you have DEP disabled because its been known to cause problems for some.

Which CD-R plugin are you using?
switch to another one.

The installer creates NO registry entries, all entries are created by the executable itself and the plugins it uses.

I think the issue might be that you're using x64 Vista. Though I've never actually tested ePSXe on an x64 system, I do know that certain software, especially those that need to do low-level operations (such as some of the graphics handling in emulators), can have trouble working correctly on an x64 system.

However, if someone DOES have ePSXe working on an x64 system, please feel free to prove me wrong.

Hope this helps.

@AfterYou: As you wish.... You're wrong. =P

I use x86-64 Windows OS, and ePSXe works properly (under WoW64 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WOW64)) as it should since it's a 32bit non-driver-based application.

@On-Topic:

As Squall said, the entries appear on first start (if none is found) of the emulator and when configuring the plugins (or first run, with default values being setted). That's why I asked if the subject reconfigured everything again.

actually epsxe does store its settings in a registory.... no matter where you move the installation, it shall remember your settings unless you reinstall windows.... then it starts up with the config wizard ( yet it was copied from identical epsxe when it was config prior to windows reinstallation)

PLEASE NOTE X64 OS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN BUGGY WITH ALOT COMPATIBILTY ISSUES...NOW ITS EVEN WORSE SINCE VISTA HAS BEEN INTRODUCED...stick with windows xp pro 32

right click epsxe.exe and click RunAs (Admin), disabling UAC may also fix this. as well as disabling DEP.

Set the plugins accordingly.

OP, post all your settings, and the name of the game you are trying to boot.
