Is this even possible?

Background: I got a little cocky with my hot keys and I was using Slot 1 to Save/Load my progress on an RPG I was playing. So i turned on ePSXe and SAVED my state instead of LOADING and lost all of my progress... (State now loads game intro) =(

So is it possible to undo or reverse a saved state? I never saved to any other states and i can not see anything in the sstates folder that would help. Guess i learned my lesson on this one?

I appreciate any assistance. Thanks in advanced for your help.

i think there is a way but it is a long and complicated process and its not really worth the amount of effort needed to do it (i think it involves hacking the save state). you should use save states only when you really have to because they tend to become corrupted and can cause various other issues for some people. if i were you, i would use memory card saves as your primary method of saving and use save states either as a backup or when you cannot get to a point where you can save your game normally. be very careful with them because as you can probably tell by now, they are rather unstable.

and just as a warning- always make sure you exit out of the emulator correctly (this goes for both memory cards and save states). you should be doing file>exit from the GUI. any other method such as closing the process down through the task manager can compromise any progress you made during your playing time.

Damn, that sucks. You should always keep a backup, ESPECIALLY with RPG's! Of course, you know that now.

So besides keeping a backup memory card save on hand to load from, you can also use multiple save states. Press F2 to switch between save state slots, so just in case you overwrite one, you'll have backups.
