I was using v1.60 of ePSXe, but then I decided to upgrade to the latest version (v1.70), so I copied my memory cards from the older version, and placed them in newer ePSXe's memory card directory. But when I play Final Fantasy VIII on the newer version I can't load my saves, all the saves are just in grey and cannot be used.

Anyone know why this is or how to fix it?

Thankyou.

EDIT:

Nevermind, I fixed the problem myself, I was loading and saving my game by pressing escape, then using ePSXe's own save/load functions, but when I stick with just loading and saving from within the game, then it works fine.

Thanks anyway guys ^_^

Use F1/F2/F3 instead.

Haha, I'm quite new to this emu stuff, thanks for the tip though.

thats for save states though, and to elaborate on what hanibal81 said- f1 makes a save state in whichever of the 5 save state slots is in use (use f2 to scroll through them) and f3 to load the selected save state. i suggest you only use them as a backup to a real memory card save because they are prone to becoming corrupt and when that happens it isnt pretty.

as a word of warning- when you save your game (this goes for both memory card saves and save states) never exit out of the emulator via task manager (shutting it down in the process tab in other words) or by hitting the X in the upper right corner of the window. the only way you should exit out is by pressing esc while in-game to return to the GUI and then do file>exit from there. if you use another method you run the risk of losing any progress you made during your session.
