I have searched this forum and so far haven't seen this question...

Is there a proper way to exit out of epsxe? Because every time I play my FF 7 cd, and I wanna exit, I click File, Exit, and it seems that I close out of ePSXe, but the music from the game I was running just keeps on playing. Also, because of this my computer won't let me pull out my flash drive, on which my ePSXe files are saved. Anyone know how to fix this and completely exit??

if your running windows. pull up the task manager, click on the processes tab then find epsxe.exe, click on it then click end process. that should kill the epsxe completely.
but as far as fixing that problem im not sure how to go about doing that

that is the correct way to do it, ive never seen this happen myself but its possible its a bug of some sort. what version of epsxe are you using, 1.7.0? for now i suggest you try making an image of the disc and play the game off that, exit out like you normally would and see if the music keeps playing.

Thanks, guys. You were right, it seems the only for me to really exit out of ePSXe is through the task manager, although before closing, it gives me a warning that my data isn't going to be saved and might get lost. Oh, well...

exiting out of the task manager is not the correct way though, what you were doing (file>exit from the GUI) IS the correct way. like i said earlier, try playing from an image and see if the music still plays when you do the correct shutdown method.

good way to get data corruption nice..have fun playing over and over and over doing it that way lol,why would you do it that way if it warns you beforehand?

Ingame->ESC->File->Close

Other methods are responsing in running tasks in background (except the taskmanager->process end-option)

But it would be great to make a shortcut for this, like a "boss"-key or something (even 2x ESC would be pretty nice)

the thing is that he has been doing the correct shutdown method (file>exit from the GUI) but for some reason it shows behavior that often happens when you dont shut it down correctly. its possible this could be a bug of some sorts in 1.7.0 but the threadstarter never stated which version he was using so its hard to narrow it down now.

Who told you data corruption would happen? 0.o The only way for that to happen is for the emu to be closed while its saving to the memcard. This takes about 4 seconds. So tell me, would you listen to all of Vistas warnings just to play and online game lol? You wouldn't get very far :p.

The memcard doesn't get saved if the process is end tasked.

nobody told me it's happened to me before on 1.6 when it crashed i hada use task manager to get out of it and later on my saves were corrupted when i tried to reload them and no i wasnt saving at that point when it happened.Not only that even if the saves werent damaged do you save every couple of mins in the game?I know I dont so therefore every thing up till the last save point will have to be done over.And as of vista I dont have that problem with warnings cause I do not use it and dont care to.

i have had the corruption occur, which is why i copypasta a backup of the file after long periods of play

you run the risk of losing any saved progress in your games, both memory card and save states, when you do that. the only correct way to exit out of epsxe is to do file>exit from the GUI. using any other method is like playing russian roulette with your game saves.
