Hey,

I'm playing ToP (made an ISO of my game, and patched it with the latest translation available, the one that came out on Christmas, last year) on ePSXe 1.7.0, and I think there might be a problem with voice-overs. I did a search around this subforum and found people also having problems with them. However, it'd seem my issues are different.

The intro is fine, all world map conversations so far are voiced, and so are the battles (normal hitting, special powers, death, victory cheer, etc), but the question is... how much of the dialog outside battles is supposed to have voice-overs?

For example, in one of the first scenes, where Cless talks to his father and Tristan, only Cless is voiced, and just a few lines. Another example is Dhaos revival scene, also near the beginning (sort-of). He's the only one with voice-over, and I'm not sure if all his lines were voiced.

I'm not using any savestates, for the record. Perhaps the game's like that in the first place, but the the voice-over placing seems to be so... haphazard. Or perhaps my copy's faulty in one way or another (you never know with imports). These are my PC specs:

- AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+
- 2048 MB RAM on dual channel
- NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT

I'm using Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41, as per recommendations. Here's the config:

Audio device: DirectSound
Buffer size: 80

[ ] Show realtime config window
[x] Wait for XA buffer is free
[ ] Cache VAG decode
Fine tune: 0
Rec option: REG write, DMA write
Reverb: Neill's

Audio out method: Thread

[x] Update before accessing register
[x] SPU IRQ - Wait CPU action
[x] SPU IRQ - Force interruption flag7

the recommendations have changed with 1.7, only the internal plugin should be used where possible.

Hey,
For example, in one of the first scenes, where Cless talks to his father and Tristan, only Cless is voiced, and just a few lines.

that is how it is actually, even without the patch.

i'm playing the translated ToP too on epsxe 1.7.

Oh, that explains it then. Thanks for your help, guys. I'll switch back to the internal sound plugin too. :)

yeah do that because im a long-time eternal spu user myself but this new internal plugin version works just as well if not better than eternal so i have switched over for this reason and i highly suggest you do the same.
