I downloaded ePSXe v. 1.7.0 today (first version and only version I've used), and I while playing Metal Gear Solid, I found that the first save I created loads everytime, no matter what I select. I downloaded Memory Card Manager and looked at the memory cards. All the saves I made were there. So I deleted all but the newest save, saved the card and restarted the game. Still, the first save I made loaded, even with it not supposed to be on the card and the game registered that I had deleted the other saves.
Plugins:
Video: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.76
Sound: ePSXe SPU core 1.7.0
CDROM ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K Core 1.7.0
Any ideas? If noob mistake, crush away. (help would be appreciated with the crushing)

does this happen with save states as well?

Haven't tried save states. Was going the memory card route cause I heard it was better for disc and drive (though I may be wrong on that)...

I just tried save states and they seem to work fine, seem being my caveat that I only tried for about 5 minutes. Also, I forgot to post in my og that the memory card slots in Metal Gear Solid while being there, were blank name wise. i.e. no 12:00 heliport, 15:51 heliport, just blank spaces which I assumed (ass of me) the lowest line would be the newest (yes I tried every memory card slot, all went to the eariest save).
The only other game I have is Mega Man X6 (just bought the other day, with Metal Gear Solid (which I've been dying to play for years) and these are the first playstion games I've played since probably driver 2 when it first came out. So I'm not up on how they are supposed to look and act. Digress over, I'm not sure Mega Man is a good barometer of game saves. Any directions will be appreciated.

are you sure you have the thing set up right? in your memcard directory you should have 2 files with the extension .mcr. you also have to configure the emulator to be looking towards that directory. also i should have mentioned this earlier but it passed me somehow, MGS is one of the harder games to get working right on epsxe, while im not sure that it has any issues with saving like the one you are getting now but you might want to keep that in mind. if you just want to play the game and dont care about any of the flashy graphic enhancement stuff epsxe does then you should try the game on another emulator like psx.
btw what O/S are you using? are you running under an administrators account? can you also check to make sure your memcard directory and all the files contained within it are not marked as "read-only"? and another thing, how are you exiting out of epsxe when you want to stop playing? do you do file>exit from the GUI?

I do have two .mcr files in my save game directory,. I do have the memory cards set under the memory card section of ePSXe as one and two respecively, the first save did save, no problem, and the other saves, while not having a name (neither did the first save have a name for the block in game, though in the Memory Card Manager, every save had a game time and location).
I'm running XP, and when I exit, normally I X close down ePSXe after I esc out of the game ( I run full screen, cloned out of my 1300 Radeon Pro on my tv).
I am the Admin, so that's not the problem, plus I have no non admin restrictions setup on my computer. There are no read only files after I quit playing (should have mentoned before), I checked after reading some post right away, there are no temp files, read only or anything different than normal, just the same two .mcr files ( I have downloaded replacement files for them and they work the same as the ones that came with the og ePSXe download). I used the memory card manager to open the memory card files and the right save games are writing to the files, they just aren't reading in game.
I'm not against trying psx, but I do like ePSXe's better features (graphics an such) and options... If I can get shiznit working right with it, I'd love to stay with it. If I have to run both, I will...

dont exit out like that, do file>exit. this is why your saves are not being recorded correctly, closing out like the way you are doing now or via task manager has been known to do things such as what you are getting.

I deleted my memory cards and started new. I saved and exited with the file exit right after I saved in game, multiple times in multiple spots . Nothing saved to the memory card that way ( by looking at it in Memory Card Manager) though the game registered a save game and still started me at the same point as always. Is there configs for memory cards I'm missing? All I see is the option to select a memory card to each slot...
