I'm having a problem with mine. I looked on the Troubleshoot FAQ, and changed some things. But the game (Final Fantasy 8) still doesn't load. It loads barely enough for me to see the Squaresoft Production thing, but it doesn't go past that. Even then, I can't see it completely, there's a space between each part of a letter, like invisible lines. Anyway for me to fix this?

Multitap is buggy, few games (games that support up to 3-4 players) does not see gamepads that are connected on multitap enabled port.

More details:
I and my friends decided to play few games that can be played up to four players and while popular ones works fine (“Crash Team Racing”, “Crash Bash”…).
I managed to find a few that are unable to detect ePSXe emulated multitap.
So far I managed to hit into two games that does not detect multitap: “Frogger 2 - Swampy's Revenge” and “Rampage 2 - Universal Tour”, and I believe that there are more like these.
If needed i can post more games that does not detect multitap when i see them.

i don't know if these can be called "bugs" within EPSXE 1.7.0, but these're what happen :

- Rockman / Megaman X series. whenever i DASH, the emulator "produce" a terrible LAG, and the frames/graphics & sound start to skip.

- Brave Saga 1 & 2, battle stage. whenever there's a "transparent" (it's not actually transparent, just fast-blinking) object, like waterfall/smoke, the LAG and the skipping happen again.

one thing i noticed though : these "bugs" start to happen ever since i changed my system to AMD Phenom X4. none of those ever happen when i still use my old Core 2 Duo. :(

does EPSXE not compatible with Phenoms ? or is it the OS (XP64 Pro) & DirectX ?

my Plug-ins :
Pete OpenGL 2.9
Eternal SPU 1.41
EPSXE Win2k CDR (play using ISO)

my System :
AMD Phenom X4 9750
Abit AN78-HD
Patriot 4GB DDR2
GeForce 9800 GT 512MB

Not a bug, but probably not configured properly.

You need the dual core optimiser on there, otherwise bite the bullet and upgrade to Windows 7 or Vista SP2 as these contain proper support for AMD's wierd Multicore timing.

I don't know if it applies to AMD K10 processors though.
And even then, XP is not very good to handle more than 2 cores. >_<

Also, you DID try to force one core on ePSXe, right?

downloaded last night, installed, and the result is... nothing changes. frames & sounds still skip. :(
i guess i better try the "OS upgrade" trick.. or even better, swap my Phenom with QuadCore.. :(

btw, KrossX, what do you mean with "try to force one core on ePSXe" ? is it even possible ? how to set that ?

one funny thing though, if i turn on "use frame skipping", the sound don't skip. if i turn it off, the sound skip. weird...

hi, i have linux ubuntu 9.10 (karmic kohala), in this release libgtk1.2 was replaced with libgtk2, and now i can't use epsxe anymore because it crash, and i can't even install old libraries because the system don't allow me to replace a library with another that is older. is it possible to add support to epsxe to this new library?! tanks.

PS. i'm using epsxe1.6.0linux, maybe this is wrong thread, but here you are tolking about bug, so.... anyway if my post need to be moved, moderators can do it for me....

I have seen many people complain about the xbox360 controller.
The problem is not entirely microsoft's drivers its also the fact that epsxe uses Directinput for controller support while microsoft has a new version called x-input (read this) oOXInput and DirectInput (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee417014(VS.85).aspx) which provides support for newer controllers (including the 360 controller)!

I am playing V-Rally 2 (NTSC-UC) and the game's screen of menu appears wrong. In 1.6.3 the game work correctly.

I am sorry, 1.6.0 was, right now I have corrected it.

In relation to this version, I have seen some problems than this share with 1.7.0. There are options of sound than bring problems, the setting does not remember the internal "SPU IRQ hack" of the emulator if this restart.

, in 1.5.2 this problem did not exist, and in 1.7.0 has been directly removed
This was a very useful option if this It was combined with SPU "Timer" (very good method), in this way more games could do run correctly, and the SPUaSync method 's troublesome stutter was avoided...

(emulator SPU IRQ hack + Plugin SPU Timer method) > Plugin SPUaSync method. Why have they remove this?

Not sure if someone already reported this, but here goes:

Resident Evil 2 Dual-Shock Edition (NTSC)
Freezes randomly during cutscenes. (Dialogues, not FMVs!).
Freezes randomly during opening doors, or changing screens in an area.
Freezes even after loading a Save that's already further into the game, for the same previously mentioned reasons.

All these things do not happen in 1.6.0 and it works pretty much perfectly in 1.6.0, using the EXACT same settings.

I have tried ripping the CD again, in proper format, (CCD/IMG/SUB), but still no success. Reading from Subchannel also did not change anything.

So either my disc is just bad (which wouldn't make sense, otherwise 1.6.0 should have the same issues), or 1.7.0 has issues with this game.

for me:
1- Frame Limiter is Effectless when using PEC as a Video Plugin.
2-Gundam Battle Assault 2 Can't Run in 1.7.0
3-Resident evil 2 Problem, where the game hangs often (for long time) then continue.

No it doesn't!, really...

i can only use frame-limiter of the pete's OpenGL2, but its not like the ePSXe 1.7.0 built-in one! <== it can speed up Levels Loading:lol::lol:

the epsxe 1.70 sound there has no enable xa sound, cdda sound etc,
only one enable sound checkbox.

whn i play rockman/megaman x5,x4, the bg music keep looping. if i use 1.5.2 and 1.6, works fine.
i saw somewhere in forum saying by using -noseekinxa option, it solves the problem

i tried, but i got the error msg incorrect param etc...

is this the bug?

Hello!

I just thought to report that the game Hokuto No Ken Seikimatsu Kyuseishi Densetsu (a real gem published only in Japan by Bandai) works fine with ePSXe version 1.6.0 while it has major issues with 1.7.0: both emulators play the introduction nicely. Then you start the game and a prologue starts. In the beginning no problems, then the screen goes completely black while the sounds continues. I found out that this problem can be worked around if you let the whole introduction be played before coming to the menu. If you at any time push the Start button to go to the menu, the problem appears. But after the first fighting section, a new problem: the emulator quits to desktop, no error messages given. I used two different graphic plug-ins on two different computers and the problem is reproduced in the same way.

I realize this game is unknown to the most and that it might be difficult to track down the bug but I am available for testing Beta versions of the next ePSXe, if needed.

dont know the reason for it but Ryu's Ending doesn't load for Street Fighter Alpha 1, a CDDA game. The enter your name thing works but not the ending so it's not a freeze. All the other endings work.

EDIT: Nevermind, fixed problem by updating Eternal spu sound plugin from 1.41 to 1.50

Here is a few bugs to look into.

Sled storm doesnt play music not even if loaded with "Mooby2 cd disk image driver 2.8" surprisingly if load image with "Mooby...2.8" and i press esc epsxe will minimize but music start playing just fine.
The same iso works well with pcsx.

Destruction derby raw no music unless loaded with Mooby...2.8
The same goes for Wip3out, Ridge Racer revolution and Rage Racer.
Correct me if I am wrong but i thought this was fixed with epsxe 1.7
Maybe its something on my side?

I finished MGS disc 1 on 1.7..And now I want to play disc 2 on 1.6 so,how can I use my 1.7 memory card on 1.6? (Because of this changing disk problem that exists on 1.7)

I always get around that by saving the game at the disc change, then closing and re-opening ePSXe and starting the next disc.

Hey !
I don't know i can say it in english (Because i'm French é_è) so, excuse my errors please.
When i start a game with epsxe 1.6, it don't want to start and a message say something like : "The memory cannot be written" And it's turn off the emulators.
I can't download the emulators again because my computer can't use internet --'

I couldn't find it in "Search" on this forum, but is there a known issue with epsxe 1.7.0 not working in fullscreen when Windows 7 is set to 150% display size? I keep my display size pretty high since my eyes are bad, but whenever I went to fullscreen in epsxe, it would shift the entire window to the top right of the screen, with 3/4 of the window out of the viewing frame. I switched Windows 7 down to 125% and now it works perfectly.

Mega Man Legends 1
- use in-game save #1 (see memcard attached)

1. Enter door
2. Watch TV cutscene
> Listen to the reporter talking. She'll interrupt her speech (pause) when mentioning the police can't help and the city is doomed.
> She reads a news update
> Pause. Gets another news update about the blue boy.

ePSXe 170 = This dialogue happens -way- too early - does not sync up to the cutscene at all. She even finishes talking before all the events play out.

pcsx-r = When she stops talking to read the news flash, her speech syncs perfectly. Both times. Works great with PEOPS DSound.


This also affects some speech with the final boss (Juno) - he blabbers some extra words which did not happen with pcsx-r.


Note:
For pcsx-r, you likely have to set BIAS 1 (psxcommon.h). Or ask for our custom debug build (where it was tested).

Probably the cdrom read timing.



edit:
Seems to be system timing. Run with "-p -4" to get the cutscene to sync up correctly (or almost perfect).

Nightmare Creatures - SLUS-00582 - No music

Some time ago I bought this game and dump it.
It was a good choice because in the meantime the cd is not working and show some errors when I scan it (is not irretrievable).
Now to the problem:
I've tried with no luck to play this game with music.
My configuration of 1.7.0:
- VIDEO - P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.18;
- SOUND - ePSXe SPU core 1.7.0;
- CD-ROM - ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.7.0.
Someone knows what is the problem?

in final fantasy 9 on 3 disc at desert palace the boss Valia Pira when casting thundaga the game like freezes but i can hear the music and the i can do the command buttons but it is no good cose the boss dosent do his i let he just stays there and camera stays on him but when he is doing some other attack he can do it
wtf is wrong in there ???????????

ok so i beaten Valia Pira making sure that she dosent attack me with thundaga but it isnt the problem with the boss it is problem with attack in generla cose every enemy that uses it gots freezed i managaed to beat most of them but i cant beat matnis thing(dont know his name cose i cant find it on gamefaq :()cose he has to many health too beat and he casts thundaga at least at 5 round HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

My ePSXe has a problem. When I turn on, the first time the game runs, but if I close and open again, no longer runs, the screen goes black. I can only play again hours later

Is it a problem on the PC or are the plugins? I downloaded several packages and tested almost all in CDRoom, Video and Audio. But I could not find the ePSXe CDR WNT / W2K core 1.5.2.

Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance! (Sorry for the English, because I'm Brazilian.)

My epsxe 1.7.0 is working perfectly yesterday then when I decided to play today, it crashes. I tried Run BIOS, Run CD-ROM and Run ISO but still it crashes. What do I need to do to fix this problem?
