Could anyone help Explain to me how i'm supposed to do the configuration for the ePSX??? I'm new to using this emulator and i recently had my house broken into and set on fire so i lost all my old cool style ps1 games and ps2 nes super nes and even N-64 and CB. So all i have is my laptop computer left which is a replacement so i'm not sure what all i have on this comp to know what my limits are. The laptop is a Dell Latitude D630 2gig of Ram Intel core 2 duo 2.0 gigGHz processor, not sure what the graphics card is called, but i read that its really good. I downloaded the 3 plugins that are required (which are up to date as of 2 days ago) and the bios but i can't seem to get the video,sound,or cd/rom, plugins config to work right. The Game is Chrono Cross to start with and i know its a legit copy, I seem to get as far as the title screen to start a new game and then the screen of the emulator goes blank, i get no sound anymore or anything and the screen looks like one of those projector screen plate covers with the horizontal lines and not a clear screen. The only thing that seems to work so far is the opening OVA will run. First problem, with the video i'm using the "P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.17" plugin the Sound is "Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41" or "ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2." and Cd/Rom is "Mooby2 cd disk image driver 2.8" for the Iso roms and "ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.5.2." for if i ever get any money to buy the games and run them off the cd/rom.
Now i tried to follow this one guys way, but a few of the pic examples seem to have been out dated so i couldn't follow it. heres the link to what i was going by : ePSXe Guide (http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/epsxeguide.htm) ...
And then i read something about compressing the files to be around 405mb instead of 730mb+ but i'm not sure if you're supposed to do that with the cd/rom plugin or not. So if anyone out there can please help me and tell me if i'm missing any plugins or anything i'd greatly appreciate it. Cause all i would like to replace is just 7 or 8 games that nowadays are too hard to find or cost like 60-100 dollars to get. I'm just trying to replace for now Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Wild Arms, Marvel Vs. Capcom, Vagrant Story, Star Ocean, Lunar 1 & 2, & FF tatics. So if anyone with the knowledge of this dilemma can help please respond...

To the best of my knowledge, Chrono Cross has been, and still is the Achillies heel of psx emulation. There are a lot of threads about this problem.
But one thing that might help you as it did help me immeasurably is making iso's of your existing games. Download alchol 120%, they have a setting for playstation games, and make images. Images run better and you don't have to deal with the heartache of poor cd-rom drivers.
As for gpu plugins, If you're not sure what your grafics card is or what it's capable of, I suggest downloading pete's D3d plugin, and just go with the "fast" configuration for now, and occasionally change the settings for whatever suits you.

Well the reason why I say download pete's is because it's a more widely known and used pluggin, in which has some game fix setups in it for chrono cross.
I still say try making an iso of your game discs first. I had the same problem with trying to run games and getting a black screen when trying to read off the cd roms.

the main problem with chrono cross is that it doesnt run well under epsxe 1.6.0, you need to use epsxe 1.5.2.
@threadstarter-
you also need to be using your own game images, im not really getting the best vibe from that last part of your post so if you are not getting the game images from your own discs, you need to stop now and purchase those games because otherwise what you are doing is illegal and we cannot offer support if that is indeed the case here. same thing with the BIOS.
